Subaru saw someone he loved losing his eye at sixteen/seventeen (original Seishirou, actually.) Later on, he wished he had lost the eye instead. In X, his wish was granted, and a character poked his eye out.
This is WHY anime!canon!Kimi in a white trenchcoat, like X!Subaru, freaks me out.
Except if CLAMP go and do something X-esque, like killing Doumeki, Yuuko replacing Watanuki's blind eye with one of Dou-kun, and that way, with a piece of the ex-living spirit repelent, his powers get neutralized and his wish comes true.
