Canon-raping your eye color since 2005

A thread in a board made me realize something.

Okay, I've been trying to find a screencap of the moment for almost an hour and I give up. But the point is, in Tsubasa Chronicle, Mokona's eyes are purple when they open.

I knew there was something wrong with those eyes, but only now I realized that it was that.

...now that I think about it, how did P.I.G color that black manjuu's eyes? I forgot. ETA: Checked. They went with BLACK.

I'm so glad I've given up on those animes. Tsubasa #30 alone made me want to kick something, and that was one of the good episodes...

Ah, no, I meant the previous one (the one with Clow, which is the only reason why I watched it anyway). I haven't dared to look at the Fujitaka one either.

I didn't remember that TC!Clow had such a girly voice... :/ Seriously, though, my problem with that episode is that it looked like a big "We're trying to fix what me messed up" neon sign.

It's hard to pay attention when you spend the whole episode thinking that Izumi did this so much better.

And I only thought that color was a little bit unnatural for Soel when I saw the first season... yay for BeeTrain ^^u

I think the one with chibi!Fujitaka was #31... and every time they dare to mess with Fujitaka and the previous king, I cross my fingers. And when I saw the preview I was like "One Piece no Kuni?" XD

But actually, I liked #30. It's a little bit too sappy and emotional and I'm getting fed up with the filler Sorashi (even though I love them), but they blended it nicely with Fei Wan's wish to "fight against death", Yuuko finally changed her clothes XD and Clow/Eriol was in character, so I can't complain.

Sorry, I haven't watched since... dunno, so I can't remember episode numbers at all. But I'm also afraid to watch that episode so...

I didn't like King of Clow's voice. Then again, I don't think Touya's voice fits him, either. I did like Yukito's better than his CCS one.

Yup, they didn't get the color right. I also had the feeling something weird was going on, but it wasn't until today it hit me. But then again, purple-eyed!white!Mokona still looks WAY better than black-eyed!black!Mokona. God, IG's black Mokona with its eyes open wide is CREEPY. Like it's going to suck your soul by looking at you.

This reminded me, Ohkawa-sensei asked the Director on that Ayakashi event:

Ohkawa: "Why is Watanuki's eye blue?"
Director: "EHH!? That's how it is in the original!"
Ohkawa: "Really? We decide the colors for the eyes 5 seconds before painting them XDDD"

I always say most of the main CLAMP characters have at least three different eye colors/tones. Especially in XXXHOLiC. I was getting the feeling they choose a random color to do each pair of eyes when they have to do color pages or illustrations.

See how Watanuki's eyes can be purple, blue or brown! Yuuko's can be red, yellow or... I think brown, too?

But an animation studio can rotate the eye colors at will, or the viewers would kill them.

Not really. Of course, when the masochistic vein or the TWS kicks in, you can always watch it in YouTube. That's what I'll do with TC; I do want XXXHOLiC in my hard drive because I'm stubborn and some episodes aren't bad at all.

Ok, they (Production IG and Bee Trai)are doing a rather "OMGWTF" job in animating Tsubasa and Holic, but I don't understand this witch hunting towards them by the CLAMP fandom, who, probaly, have never heard about other works from these great studios.

Witch hunting? I think you're talking to the wrong person here. Yes, my tone tends to be bitchy, but I've rather enjoyed some of the HOLiC episodes and think it could've been worst. I might be bitter over some petty things, like the Clow crossover or the Mokona personality+backstory, but I've seen worst opinions than mine. I'm probably too much of a manga whore, or I'll have high standards and won't ever be entirely satisfied. Who knows.

And I've seen series by P.I.G. Actually, I thought the movie was really nice and exceeded my expectations, so it's not like I think they're "so meeeeeen 4 screwin up manga woe" or anything. I disagree with some of their arc order decisions, but I don't think they screwed it. (well, except Mokona...)

On Bee Train, sadly, they lost me when they had sonambulant Sakura flying over Hanshin. I really don't understand what crack they smoke each week, but I respect the ones who disagree with me and love the anime. I might look scary, but I'm not a insensitive wanker who flames everything.

Dunno, all my fandoms have the manga and the anime versions being different from each other. Sometimes I find that nice and interesting, sometimes I just want to kick someone in the crotch. It varies in each case.
