Because I'm a liar and a procrastinator and I DID read manga in study time.

Okay, okay. You know me. I always have to have my secondary character group to swoon over. And I've decided...

*raises hand* Hi, now I've become a Kou-tachi fangirl~ Ahahaha, did you see that coming? But their group dynamics and devotion to each other is just so... squee.

I mean, I've always liked them a lot, but Reload just nailed the coffin and overwhelmed me.

I -was- worried over Kougaiji's brainwash. It was so low, and between that and the experimenting on Lirin, it just crushed Doku and Yaone. Poor guys, I was like OHNOES at the end of Saiyuki with them. And I feared he'd never come to his senses again.

I was proven wrong. And HOW.

I went awwwwww when they both switched sides during the Kou vs. Goku postfight, going "sorry, but THIS is our side because we CHOOSE to be here, whether the master likes it or not."

But-but... what I didn't expect was for that simple act to make Kougaiji to wake up! And for him to run and save Doku's life back! And then when we got the confirmation and he summons his creature, I was so happy because that showed he WAS back. And probably wiser, and understanding how important his "servants" (they're more like friends -and family) are to him and where his loyalties should be at. They need him, and he needs them. That's their light.

That DID it for me. I love those three. I do. I have a crush on Sanzo and I like his companions, yes, but I love the Kou-tachi.

And then they go to save Lirin and Kou pwns Ni. Ahahahaha priceless! Too bad that bastard didn't seem to care that much... Yeah, I hate Ni. He's intriguing, but too much of a bastard to me.

Speaking of Lirin, I really want to know what happened to her. No, that's NOT an invitation for spoilers: I'm just saying I'm worried for her.

Anyway, it's 4:00 am. Gotta go.

ETA, 8 hours later: GIP

ETA2, 5 hours after first ETA: Okay, new decision after one more volume and some Gaiden. If I had to slash anything, then Hakkai/Gojyo (and Tenpou/Kenren, which are better for me) will be.

I'm still not ready to hit the fandom yet, but it's good to know ^^ Sadly, I do like the Ten/Ken chemistry better than their reincarnations', and I get the feeling there can't be that much of fic for them around.

What do you ship in Saiyuki, by the way? *is curious*

You'll be surprised, there's also a good number of fics for them. (Really, ask and I can name at least five authors that write them ) Of course in the Saiyuki fandom I've found something quite unique: writers write different pairings, try new things and most of the fandom doesn't angst about it. In fact, most of the fandom will ship more than one pairing... or just throw a dice and ship any of the main four + usual secondary characters in any form. And some authors can make it work.

Also. People write gen. GEN. Yes, it exists.

A good way of understanding how awesome the fandom is: Saiyuki week. A few months ago someone declared a week to express how much they liked the series. The result was A LOT of posts that covered pretty much everything: essays, meta, manga analysis, icons, fic, etc.

Also... I've never seen a wank. They might exist. But I haven't seen one. On a different note STAY AWAY FROM FF.NET. You thought there was badfic in your fandoms? Here, the badfic will scare you for life, it's like a black hole of horrible. There's OOC and tentacles and...

As for what I ship... Well, I like Goyjo and Hakkai (as well as the marshal and the general...), but I like Sanzo and Goku. The problem for this last one is that I won't read anything that has any OOC... and so it takes a genious of an author to make a story work without forgetting mayor canon points (like Sanzo's touch issues...). Is not a pairing I have to see "happening". It's already there in a way or another, the best fic are those that stay true to the canon.

There are OOC + tentacle fics at the FMA fandom, actually.

The touching issue (and the trigger-happiness; having a relationship with him shooting at you for anything should be fun! XD) is the main reason I don't ship Sanzo with anyone. But yeah, the pairing is cute, although I like Goku/Nataku better. Actually, except for the incest pairings (not even Hakkai/his sister), Sanzo/his master, and Ni/anyone because he freaks me out, I think I don't mind any particular pairing.

As for the Kou-tachi, I'm so indecisive I ended up declaring Kou/Doku/Yaone OT3. I just like any combination of them.
