Finally back home

Well, it could've been way worse.

Food was fine, there wasn't fights -unless we count Danny vs. their new laptop, which eventually became Danny vs. The World, or mom vs. WTF-Windows-XP?!-, and I stayed over to sleep (I like my bed at my mom's~). Oh, and I had home-made burger for lunch today.

The bad part was being treated as tech support. Actually, I stayed over so I could give mom *more* tech support today. Nnnnnng.

Also, this Christmas? It needed more cowbell Wii.

I wish I could say something more coherent and witty, but I'm too lazy.

And dammit, nobody is on in any IM client D: I'm bored to death. Speaking of Death, I could finish watching The Hogfather today?

Merry Christmas!
I am actually surprised by how many people are on LJ right now. I think people are having fun posting their list of christmas presents.

Samewise if you celebrate it!

Huh, my flist is kinda quiet today. I think I've only seen like three people posting about their presents. The rest of the posts are fandom-y or random season greetings in giant, red/green fonts.

Oh. That's sad, I really like the holidays as the artists tend to post little doodles and pictures. Even some people who don't normally post art.

I'm more in fanfic-directed fandoms, so it's all about the stories (advent calendars, secret santas, yuletide...)

But I think my flist is just quiet in general. The thick activity is on communities, and yet, they're not that active today.

Feliz Navidad, aunque tal vez ya un poco retrasada. En mi caso todo fue muy tranquilo, cenamos con unos amigos de mis padres en casa y poca cosa más.

Nunca hay suficiente Wii

I see a lot of people into fanfic and I think it is interesting, in fact there are many times I would like to know more about it, but I don't even know where to start. I've poked around fanfinction.net a few times over the last couple of years, but it is a lot like wading through tpopspace, for the good articles, you need to know where to go ahead of time.

You should stick to LJ. Join comms about the pairings or series you like and check what's posted in them. LJ writers are less bratty, so it's less likely to find Mary Sues or crappy AUs in here.

FF.net is 90% crap. No wonder it's known as "the pit of voles".

Igual ^^

Are there normally just fanfic communities, or is it just in the regular community? Or is it all just dependant on the size of the fandom/popularity of the series? Say I liked Hellsing and Hana-kimi. Are they too obsure to have fanfic, or would it be easy to find?

Dunno, it depends on the fandom. The best way to find out is making an interest search and see the results. I've never poked those two fandoms around -even though I did read Hanakimi- so I have no way to know how branched they are.

I think I will poke around now that I am on vacation. It just seems from the few fanfics I have seen on the Hellsing comm. that the authors seem to be very up to date with the Japanese releases. I like holding my books, so unless it is a weird series like Hellsing, I am not aught up with everyone.
