So I finished Apollo Justice last night. I think the only strong flaw, playing wise, I can think of is the less amount of crack and WTF characters compared to his predecessors. I mean sure, it had its moments, but most times it was quite the srs bzns.
On the other hand, the mysteries themselves were pretty good! It felt more detective-like than any Phoenix Wright game... which is ironic because the coolest investigation parts are done by Mr. Hobo. I liked how they connected in the end some characters I didn't expect to be connected at all. I feel bad for the people who were shipping a certain pairing because they were pretty much Peter/Claire'd (I thought that connection was sweet, myself, but I'm a sucker for cute family relationships and I didn't actually ship that).
I don't have time to rant about the characters right now because I gotta dress up for class. I've come to terms with hobo because he's neat... but he still didn't feel like Phoenix, and I felt like I was dealing with a different guy (pretty cool guy nonetheless, in the end, but I still can't think of him as Teh Wright). But I liked Apollo a lot, and Trucy is so cute, and Klavier is the win, and I'm sad Ema couldn't shine more and had such a lame ending cutscene.

In this game? A guitar player who's into rock O_ô
The translators for this company are weird people, especially when it comes to names. I mean, new main character, Apollo Justice. The minor characters get a lot of strange puns, too. And let's not go with the poor guy who was named Larry Butz, with the recurrent bad joke "when something smells, it's the Butz" (...meaning he gets a lot into trouble, not that he literally smells like a butt). In this game, there was a girl whose last name was Orly... and there were actual O RLY jokes! :O

I think the names fit the game, though. I mean, when your main character is called Phoenix Wright, stuff like "Apollo Justice" is just the natural progression.
Iroh
I think he's awesome. I wish he was my uncle/grandfather. There's the fact he can be silly and dorky in this wise-zen-old-man way, but at the same time he's so badass he can kick your ass with his hands tied. His backstory is also interesting and sad.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
He's secondary so far, but if it wasn't for him, more than a couple of important characters would never get the character development they needed to become Aang's teachers. In the end, it's thanks to Iroh that Zuko (and Toph) grew up and could be more essential to the main plot.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
I don't think I can relate in any way, but he has moved me.
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
I only talk about it with the people on my flist, and don't seek other thing than icons and the occasional links to fanart. The fandom in general seems too strange and bratty for me to venture.
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
I don't ship him. His relationship with Zuko broke my heart at least twice; I've always liked their dynamics, but since the season 1 finale I realized how much they love each other like father-son. I want him to reunite with the Gaang because his friendship with Toph is the win, and I want him to meet Sokka, now fellow Lotus Society member.

Not one thing that I can think of. Then it wouldn't be Iroh.

I think he'd annoy me XD There's also the problem I don't drink tea (GAAASP), and I'm bad at board games, and that could strain any friendship between us.

In this fandom, he is one of my favorites. Not sure about favorites overall.

If the person has a history of liking elder mentor characters, I would.

I have no idea, to be honest o_o Most of my flist seems to love him, however, and the only time I've seen hostility against Iroh was in fandom!secrets. By that, I suppose he's globally loved even if not "popular" in a fanworks way.

Yuuko
I find her so fascinating and mysterious and amazing. I've always liked the kind of character she is, the "be careful what you wish for" type, like Count D in Petshop of Horrors and Pamela in Tarot Cafe. But what makes Yuuko different is that she's human even with her 1337 powers and paranormality, even if she's bound not to interfere if possible. And there's the goofy, geeky, sweet side she shows in private. She's a nice twist in the archetype.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
You bet! And not only in her manga.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
I can't relate at all, and other characters in HOLiC make me feel for them, but for some reason that's part of her charms.
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
I've been there since the beginning ^^ And well, the fandom ain't perfect, but we're less wanky than TRC and X! There are gorgeous icons, too. Also, crossovers are a plus.
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
I only ship her in the past with Clow; with anyone else it doesn't feel equal, and I'm not into power differences. I love her mentorship with Watanuki a lot and how it's evolved. I also like her being the Mokonas' mommy although with her it's more like a big sister sometimes since she's so youthful. (ETA: Also, I wish we knew how much she knows Kakei from Gohou Drug. I'm hoping they ARE BFF!)
6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
I'll answer that when both of her canons are over. CLAMP might fuck up something about her, after all. I do feel like, sometimes, they use her in Tsubasa as a deus ex machina, and all these extreme payments in a row make her look more cruel than she must be; even if they're a vital part of her character's philosophy, they just happen way too often (again, deus ex machina).

Unless I get to be close with Watanuki, I doubt I get to meet her. Maybe I don't WANT to meet her, because that means I might get dead or screwed up by karma o_____o

I think I would, but not as "OMG SHE'S A FELLOW YAOI SHIPPER, YOU'D LIKE HER". I suspect it might happen often, considering her characterization in D/W fics D:

I'd say she is. I can see people who only read TRC finding her overrated, but HOLiC fans in general don't complain much about her so...
Touya
I like him. He's down to Earth and realistic, which is amazing considering
he's a CLAMP magical guyhow abnormal his life and family are. And he's one of the few characters from these mangaka who gets to do a Sacrifice For Love that doesn't bite him in the ass or gets him dead. That alone is remarkable and refreshing.2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
Not quite. He does one or two key things for the plot and probably has a more complete backstory than most of the main-secondary cast. However, he's still secondary. Even his two love interests did more to the plot than him, sadly.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
I can relate to the occasional grump, but otherwise not so much. I'm useless, never got a job, and I'm the one who gets teased by the younger siblings. But overall, he's just way nicer and cooler than I am.
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
As much as I keep returning to the canon, write fic, make icons, roleplay... the fandom itself sucks balls.
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
I ship him with Yukito and with Yue. I love his sister complex with Sakura and the you-are-enemy attitude toward Li. I also like a lot when Kaho tease him in the manga, although I can't stand their dynamics in the anime.

Several months ago, I would've said "MOAR TOUYA IN TSUBASA". Now that we're about to get him I don't want to ;_; What CLAMP can do to Clow country scares me.

Probably cordial classmate interaction. A bit aloof, but treating me nicer than he did with Nakuru. Mostly because he's kinda shy with people he doesn't know well. Besides, I'm a nutcase so he might want to stay the fuck away just in case.

He doesn't. I love writing him because he's fun, but he's not nearly a favorite.

...If the Pit is an indicative? Absolutely not. Which is strange, considering he's bisexual and has a boyfriend. In other fandoms, people would be so delighted to have someone like Touya. Instead, it's all about stupid AUs and/or making Touya straight, and a tiny amount of T/Y fics. There's not even doujinshi with him, unless it's Touya/Sakura shouta hentai ;____;

Watanuki is one of the most captivating main CLAMP characters to me. It's hard to explain it, but he's grown in such a great way and has always been so adorable.

Er. He IS pretty much the plot.

I relate more to his older self in temper. I'm too selfish to be anything close to him. But yeah, he grips me emotionally.

I don't ship him. I love his friendship with Doumeki and Himawari, and I've accepted the pairing that'll be canon, but I still feel he needs more friends and less OMGsoulmates. I like the mentorship with Yuuko: even if she's a mother figure, sometimes he acts like he's her mom. His friendship with Kohane. Pretty much all the relationships with every paranormal being he's come across -but particularly Mokona and Mugetsu.

Not change (yet), but I WANT THE ANSWERS TO HIS BACKSTORY TO BE THE LEAST PLOTHOLEY AS POSSIBLE, CLAMP!

She's adorable. She gets to be cute but at the same time smart and kickass. I think she's pretty impressive.

The thing with FMA is that I believe that practically all characters, minor or not, contribute to the plot in some way. She's important for some subplots, right now she's in charge of something big, but overall in a global sense the asnwer is probably no.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
I can relate to my teenage years: I had a soft spot for blonds and daydreaming when I was 15 :DDD Other than that, no. I rarely met my father, though, but it's a different circunstance.

...I don't like the fandom itself anymore, but I've made great friends with it.

While it's not one of my main ships, I do like Al/Mei. Of course, the best interactions are with Xiao Mei (I want my own vicious mimetic midget panda!), but also her relationship with the Scar-tachi and Marcoh.

I don't think so D: Although I haven't seen her bashed yet, since I've seen Ling and Lan Fan being labeled as canon Sues... I bet someone, somewhere hates her. But everyone in my flist loves her or doesn't mention her, at least.
Tamaki
I think he's amazing. He might be flashy (...then again, HALF OF THE CHARACTERS YOU PICKED are flashy), but he's such a nice, dorky guy. Even with his obliviousness and apparent stupidity for some things, he's so smart for others. I once said that Tamaki is so full of contrasts.

Fuck yeah. To the point I sometimes doubt if he could actually be the main character and not Haruhi. He got it all together, he got promoted to Main Love Interest, of course he's the most important one. Even in the anime finale they were all fucked without him.

I can't relate at all with anyone in Ouran, but he does grip me a lot.

I don't check it out. Seeing bitter discussions every month when I fetch my raw scans is enough drama. I bet there are good corners, but... I'm not interested.

Haruhi! I do like his friendship with Kyouya, and his dynamics with his family. Except his grandmother, because she's the devil.

If I were in high school time, I think I'd fangirl him and be a host customer XD He's physically the type I was into IRL when I was a teen. But I'd probably pull a Haruhi and go WTF when I get to see his childish traits.

Ayame

Lately I realized there is a kind of character that sometimes pops in my list of favorite characters: the flamboyant, self-centered, eccentric flirts with good intentions. AS SEEN IN HALF OF YOUR LIST. I wonder, do I like Ayame because of the archetype, or do I like the archetype because of Ayame? It's a question that still haunts me at night.
And when I played Apollo Justice.I like his over-the-top-ness and tl;dr. He's funny, and the reactions to him are funny. But the fact he's (slowly) learning from his mistakes is admirable, and that's what makes me like him beyond the nutjob he is.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
Not at all, to his dismay.
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
It's not the same in any way, but I was jealous when my brothers were born. I do understand about wanting to bond with the younger siblings, even with differences. But apart from that, there's no relating. I think Yuki grips me more, also.

I never peeked into it. I imagined there had to be lots of hating for the non-anime females (Rin, Machi...) plus the ones who scored with slashable guys (Mayuko, Mine...), so I refuse to check out.

I so thought my OTP was crack and probably one-sided, so it was a surprise when Ayame/Mine was canon XD I love to see his dynamics with Yuki, with Hatori, with Shigure, and with Kakeru. Ah, and Ritchan fanboying him, too.

Perhaps that he tried harder to understand that Yuki likes him better when Ayame's not rambling about himself. It could save some punches.

Oh, I wouldn't get along with him AT ALL XD I'd cling in a corner like Machi, most likely, but trying hard not to kick him at the same time.

He's a favorite in the series, but I'm not sure about all-favorites. I can think of guys in the archetype I like better, even if he was my first one.

Howl
First of all, he's a wizard. But his vanity and melodrama is just so amusing! And gotta love how he manages to break clichés in chain. He's not a horrible bastard who eats girls, just a metrosexual flirt! But a not a metrosexual flirt, since he keeps failing! And he's the royal magician with flashy suits, but in his hometown he's considered a bum!

My family keeps going at me for sucking at life, and I'm a coward drama llama D: But apart from that, no to both accounts. He brought it to himself.

It's lovely ^^ The few times I've hunted for fic or art have been great. Needs more minor character and pairings and Castle in the Air, but still.

He's meant to be with Sophie! I love his bond with Calcifer, and his relation with Michael. And in CitA, his interaction with Abdullah was gold. And the time he held Morgan was LULZ.

None at all! The fact he changed so much in the movie irks me.
