Oh Vanillaware

Well, that was short! Around 11 hours of Muramasa, and I got to the end of Kisuke's story.

Okay, so I admit I picked the dude first because I love playing as a badass girl and I wanted to save Momohime to last.

Anyway, this game is fun fun fun! My right wrist hurts from wiimote. I guess I'll leave the other story and further completion to a few months later. I'd say the gameplay is less frustrating than Odin Sphere, but it's sad it's not an entire improvement because of the overall shortness. Replay value, though? I can see myself replaying it, yeah.

And GOD, THE LANDSCAPES. THE LANDSCAPES. PRETTIEST THING EVER. OH VANILLAWARE.

I fucking hate ninja enemies. Sneaky bastards are sneaky.

Okay then. Let's go with Kisuke. Not bad to play as him. I like his cynical brattiness, even though the final wangst (his suicide, emo kid much?) was a little bit too dramatic. Then again, it's not as much as Odin Sphere's Shakespearean Wagner opera, and it was pretty much clear he was going to die anyway.

But my favorite part about this half? The females. I wasn't expecting cool girls in the "manly" story (if you can call manly a skinny guy who looks like L from Death Note cosplaying a ninja on Halloween; hot springs fanservice was painful to the eye). Still! I have such a ridiculous girlcrush on Torahime ♥ I think she's hardcore, which is odd since her role tended a bit to damsel in distress -I suppose it's the bushido leader pride and strong resolve what softens it for me, as for script issues Kisuke just had to be physically stronger than her. And yeah, I ship it, his crush on her was adorable. Another big favorite was Kuzuruha, the kitsune with less embarrassing cleavage. I digged her character design from the start, with the red umbrella and the braided white hair. But seriously, she's cool.

The ending was, um. See, I'm glad they had a happy ending, but they reincarnated as such lame kids that I wasn't so happy about it. The whole awesomesauce of the pairing was shipping warrior princess/cool vassal ninja. Not son of salesman/random girl he just met. Boring, man.

Woo, someone on my flist who has played Muramasa! I played through both stories once, and I have to say I hate the ninja enemies too. They're so damn annoying.
By the way, if you weren't aware, you can get more than one ending per story so there's some more replay value for you.

I want to play this now, but I must quit buying video games.

I bet it's a beautiful looking game especially since it's by Vanillaware

The ones with the fucking chain D:

Yeah, the game mentions it but it'll take a while to do Momohime's and then get the free time to experiment. Plus, the Wii is at my mom's place.

I should do that, too. Thankfully I have a lot of half-played PS2 games to keep me warm for some months.

It's gorgeous, I think even slightly prettier than Odin Sphere. There are a bunch of trailers here (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/muramasa-the-demon-blade/5552) to feast in the eyecandy.

I'd love to get Muramasa, but my brother decided to take advantage of the lowered price for the Xbox 360. My family's wholesale dedication to Nintendo has abruptly ended. :/ That said, if I can finish Mass Effect quickly enough, there's nothing keeping me from trying to get it myself and playing it during spring break.

Same here, we have the Wii from the year it came out. But nowadays, all my brothers do is playing FPS on 360 or MMOs on PC. Their NDS must be rotting, so it's not only fixed consoles. I had to actually rescue the Wii from the basement, because mom wanted to use Wii Fit and my brother wouldn't let her into his room, so they sent it there; mom never went down out of laziness, so I figured it'd be better in my bedroom even if it's just to replay old Zeldas and ToS.

I think there are decent games for the Wii, but they're harder to find here. I wish I could cross to the Microsoft faction like my bros, because I believe it's the best console of this gen, but there are only like three things in their catalog I want to play. And they wouldn't let me use theirs for a long period of time anyway (15 year-old twins, selfish as hell, easily bored). Meanwhile, my Vesperia copy is gathering dust.
