Self-service Italian restaurant = awesome

Am I a bitch for feeling an enormous joy over the fact that the Hotel Dusk sequel, Last Window, has no date or sign for an American release, while it's coming to Europe on September?

I-I mean! Here in Europe we go through the opposite (unknown or very late releases here if at all, and I say late compared to the American version). I should be sympathetic and feel bad, but it's refreshing to be on this side once in a lifetime. You guys have no idea how many things you have for granted. SO CRY MOAR.

Aaaaaand I leave a meme taken from [livejournal.com profile] kirarakim.

Ask me my Top Five whatevers. Fannish or literary or RL or otherwise. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what -- fandoms, characters, ice cream flavours, cartoon moments, women/men in my fandoms, OTPs, ideal holiday destinations, goals for the future, celebrity crushes, books I wish would be made into movies etc. And I will answer them all in a new entry eventually.

Hmm... top five girls in your fandoms?

Uuuuuh, can it be more specific than that? I know it's in the header of the meme, but it's too wide as a concept. Hell, I even call women younger than 30 "girls" sometimes, so I have no clue. What kind of girls? It's just... like saying "top human beings who happen to have female genitals and aren't old". Uh? I have no idea what to say for that one, really.

When you say childhood books, you mean "books I read during my childhood" or "books targeted at children"? B-because most of the children's books I've read were when I was over twenty.

...So you want me to re-read/recall 108 chapters, when my volumes are at my uncle's and One Manga died, and then pick just five, to then use even more of my scarce time to find the pictures/pages/quotes that come with it from who knows where?

Dude, that's not evil. That's plain sadism. Should I also catalog rice grains in length order? It's just as easy, really. Two months ago, it's not that hard. But now? I have no fucking clue whatsoever.

ETA: I-I just sounded more cynical than I intended |D I'm sorry about that. But yeah, that's a really hard request even after doing the actual choice, because of One Manga closing. And I'm really bad at remembering punctual chapter numbers, so I couldn't give images/links to pages like I intended with the entire meme.

It's not even a true reversal, since it's all but guaranteed that the game's getting a US release eventually, while sometimes games released in the US never see a European release. Though maybe I can be nonchalant about it because I don't even know what the game is.

For the meme, top five instances of fandom crazy. (As in, things that make you say "Oh, fandom" but are fun to watch from a safe distance, if that makes sense.)

You mean fandom as my fandoms or fandoms in general? Because I don't give a damn about fandom wanks anymore, and the worst I see in my fandoms are the cliché yaoi fangirls taking their pairing as canon or the usual character bashing for stupid reasons and well, that's not THAT crazy.

[identity profile] ayasugi-san.livejournal.com 2010-08-28 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I was thinking about fandom in general, and the all-time greats like Msscribe.

Um, how about top five favorite fandom-inspired memes?

I really can't recall enough epic crazies to make 5. Plus I don't enjoy/hate them that much anymore.

...Are there enough of those? I see memes as something global that the entire Internet knows. Fandom "memes" are kind of in-jokes that people repeat to death because they were funny at the beginning. I think they're jokes, not memes, and most of them are not that amusing. The kind of things I remember spreading to many fandoms are stuff like GQMF (and I dislike it) or those AMVs that get adapted a la Caramelldansen or the Durarara ending. But yeah, I honestly don't know/like enough of those general ones.

No me imaginé que lo querías hacer con imágenes y todo, la verdad. Hmmm. 5 personajes que te gustan mucho y su fandom ignora?

[identity profile] outou.livejournal.com 2010-08-30 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Speaking as someone who's been waiting a long, long time for Last Window to come out...yes. Very yes. ;_;

I'm glad that Europe is actually getting it, though, since it's disgusting how the entire region gets the shaft in video games even in this day and age. (What's better is that the DS is region-free, so Americans can always import the European version -- unlike the Trace Memory/Another Code sequel, which was developed for the Wii and never released in the U.S.)

And for the meme, uh...top five characters that you love, but everyone else seems to ignore/hate?

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2010-08-31 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I-I'm sorry. I guess I get a bit ticked off when people from North America make a lot of noise because something doesn't come to them first, since as a South American/European I'm used to wait for stuff. I am aware I'm being a bitch for feeling like that.

Huh, I didn't know the Another Code game for the Wii wasn't released over there. That sucks a lot. I still haven't played any because I heard they're so short.

Someone asked me for that question already but the comment is in Spanish XD

[identity profile] outou.livejournal.com 2010-08-31 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
No, that's okay. I visit GameFAQS every so often (coughs), so I have an idea about where you're coming from. The American gaming community is incredibly entitled when it comes to getting games; the mass of whining that comes up whenever some small title (or large titles, like the most recent Tales games, but we all know that Namco Bandai hates making money) doesn't get published over here is just plain stupid, considering what we do get. Seriously, we even got the new, Team Ninja-developed Metroid game before Japan did!

The first Another Code really is short, but since it's been out for such a long time you can probably get it for next to nothing online. The story manages to be deep and sweet enough to make up for the length, and the gameplay and music are nifty.

Curse me for not taking Spanish in high school! D: (I should have gotten that, though, since "ignora" and "personajes" are cognates and I actually recognized "te gustan mucho.") Okay, then, how about top five characters you hated or were annoyed by when you first saw them, but now love?
