Remember when I thought that crushing on minor Pokémon characters was sort of low? After my, I don't know, fourth crush or something I was fine with it. I guess the shame just fades. BUT NOW I'M CRUSHING ON ALMOST EVERYONE IN BLACK/WHITE BECAUSE OF FANART. I HAVEN'T PLAYED THAT GAME. I DON'T EVEN WANT TO PLAY THAT GAME. NO, SELF, YOU'RE NOT SHIPPING MAIN GIRL WITH N JUST 'CAUSE IT'S SEXY AND A LESS JERKASS KIND OF FOEYAY. Uuuuuuuuugh.

What else? I don't know if I should sign up for Yuletide. On one hand, the weird parameters to decide "obscure" this year were so suspicious and I understand why the wank. There's going to be a lot of point missed this time. On the other, I like the signup form. There are some fandoms and characters I'd never offer because, for instance, I wouldn't like to get a request for slash or incest or porn in that fandom. So it's easier to cover my back this time. But yeah, I don't know if I'll be able to get inspired in time and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the weirdness going on.

Speaking of CCS and Yuletide, did you see that it made the cut for "obscure fandoms"? Check out the list of characters; it includes "Mizuki", "Mizuki Kaho", and "Fujitaka Nadeshiko". If I hadn't found the list via FW, I'd be very tempted to submit some corrections.

At least you know one character and the RP version of the other. I DON'T PERSONALLY KNOW ANY OF THEM, IT'S JUST FOR THE PRETTY. Hell, the main characters in Pokémon are a blank state so anything ever is IC for them -for the rival guy not so much.

You have places like the Pit where anything that's not S+S gets ignored and/or flamed, while TvTropes says that Syaoran is the most common target of Die For Our Ship thanks to the countless Sakura/Tomoyo fans. Then there are the people who bemoan the "fact" that the fandom is run by T/Y-shipping yaoi fangirls, ignoring the comments, reviews, and fansite character profiles that adamantly insist that there's nothing going on between Touya and Yukito or Sakura and Tomoyo and how sick must you be to think such a thing...

▌ favorite pairing → I do sort of like Zelos/Sheena, but not to actively search for fanworks, and some days I wake up thinking they'd be better in a foursome with Lloyd and Colette. But I'm not sure I'm able to OT4 anything. I'm very gen in this fandom.
▌ favorite episode → I liked the faux drama when everyone on the party is left behind so Lloyd can continue, to then everyone be brought in time by a repentant Zelos. It was such a relief they were all okay.
▌ unpopular opinion → Just because Kratos sides with his son in the end doesn't make him suddenly a decent dad to me and deserving of anything. I understand it's not entirely his fault and his life is ~tragic~, but I can't help but feel Dirk was the one who brought up Lloyd and is truly his father (FFS, the kid recites dwarven vows like trufax). Then again, I just don't like Kratos so much and I'm really harsh on parent characters. And it pains me that I'm indifferent to the Mithos-Martel-Yuan-Kratos group because I normally love background flashback characters.

I think this game is onto me, especially the characters. Female professor, cute megane boy frienemy, cute ditzy blonde girl frienemy, rival with motivation beyond SMELL YA LATER and a Soujirou Seta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seta_S%C5%8Djir%C5%8D) sort of resolution, ridiculous yet deep down deep plot, more dragon legendaries. Bastards.

▌ least favorite character → DOES BEN COUNT? ;A; j/k It's hard because even the more vile and annoying characters have redeeming sides (yes, even Navi, and the trainwreck that is Tingle is mockable), so I'll say... the Ocean King because his fishy mind must be ALL KINDS OF AWFUL to have the worst temple in Hyrule history EVER. Fuck your sand.
▌ prettiest character → All incarnations of adult Link that looks like a LOTR elf are pretty, LOL. All Zeldas, including alter egos. Midna in her true form, Malon, Din, Nayru, Maple... there's a lot of cute girls, I'd be here all day. I'm convinced Kafei must be hot when he's not a shota.
▌ character I wanna marry → Man, I have no idea. I guess all Links eventually settle down because there's a hero bloodline so. The question is which one of them. Hopefully none that includes a ranch, I don't want to be a farmer.
▌ favorite pairing → I ship OOT!Link/Sheik|Zelda so hard. I thought at that time it was my first slash video game pairing and then... yeah. I haven't finished TP yet but something tells me I'm going to like Midna/Zelda.
▌ favorite episode → My favorite game is Ocarina like almost everyone ever. Why so unoriginal, self.
▌ unpopular opinion → I've never been in the fandom, so I have no idea what's unpopular or not. Maybe that I don't care if Sheik is (physically and mentally) a dude or a dudette or whether she/he counts as a transexual or not. She's hot either way. I do like the idea of being a girl crossdressing and binding her breasts vs Zelda growing a penis with Triforce magic, but that's me liking crossdressing girls and I'm fine with any headcanon.

Don't feel bad about that, that's how Lloyd feels, too. Even after he accepts Kratos as his father, it's as a second dad.

I know, but I don't get why most of the fandom seem to love Kratos and Lloyd's father-son dynamics instead of Dirk and Lloyd's. There's... barely one. Maybe they just like the drama, I guess. Or Kratos' bishounen-ness. I liked it better when it was called the first Star Wars trilogy.

I love Dirk and Lloyd's father-son relationship more, too, because Lloyd makes it so clear that he thinks of Dirk as his father, always has, always will. That's not something very common with adopted characters in fantasy stories.

My friend schellibie has definitely done something related to post!canon Al and May, whether its fanart or fanfic or what have you.
So if you haven't already checked out her stuff, I recommend that you do so!

But other than that, I so agree. There is so much potential for awesome with the Al/May ship, and I wish that fandom gave them more attention.
Al gets to be in Chinese clothes! Al gets to be in Xing! We can have Al/Ling bromances and Al/Lanfan friendships and awkward-yet-lovely Al/May romance!

And the fact Dirk is his dad first is what makes Lloyd's plot (and therefore a good part of the overall game's) underneath. Being raised by someone of a completely different race has made him so open to friendship with anyone different to him, no prejudice at all. This is particularly poignant for the Sage siblings, who can then learn to trust humans thanks to Lloyd.
