Dungeons and Dragons, Pokémon style

Yeah, nothing happened lately so I've been accumulating, until it was time to do another gym. Only one left!

Last time we talked, N was a moe Disney Princess. He still is, but now he blossomed into a brave ~*~chosen shounen hero~*~ with an ancestral dragon-shaped weapon of mass destruction friend. Sorry, I forgot he doesn't do the tools thing, he ~*~befriended~*~ him with his ideals ~*~magical batshit determination of friendship~*~. Since I'm playing Black, it's the black one, matching his cap and his turtleneck.

Jesus. What kind of antagonist I've got.

Anyway, I have cool friends too.

→ male Dewott, now with everstone (Yoshitsune)
→ male Zesbtrika (Zeus)
→ female Swanna (Odetta) [fun fact: she evolved minutes before we watched Black Swan o.O]
→ female Litwick (Candelaria)
→ male Beartic (Knut)
→ male Druddigon (Drew)
→ male Darmanitan (Darío)
→ female Petilil (Florina)
→ male Tirtouga (Thorkell)
→ male Krokorok (Sandro)

I know, most obvious name for polar bear ever, but whatever. Except for Sandro (35) and Yoshi (43), all of them are level 40 but I get the feeling I should Audino-grind them a little more. Especially Knut and Drew, because FUCKING DRAGONS are coming up. Ah, I think I should catch an Axew too although it's weaker, the more dragons the better :|a

Either way. Twist Mountain was fucking horrible. I wanted to grind there but I gave up after an hour of absolute pain. Then I tried the swampy water at town and it wasn't better. I'm... going to stick to Audino-beatings for a while, okay? Okay.

AAAAARGH MY HATE FOR ICE DUNGEONS, but compared to the DPPt gym (AUGH) it wasn't hard. Brycen was ridiculously easy because BW is full of fire Pokémon anyway. I brought Darío and Candelaria, and they ate a lot of ice cream. About the guy himself, he's... uh... I don't know, really. I mean, he's obviously cool-looking (hurr hurr) and he's probably a little ninja himself, but otherwise we don't get to know him much. Even when he gets involved in the plot, Cheren goes with him. Him and the Mazorca Trio don't make much of an impression.

But here is the beginning of some serious running around like chickens. You see that huge millennial tower, linked to legendary dragons? IT'S BEEN PLASMA'D. Bianca, sadly, chickens out and decides to stay. I don't blame her, the first floor alone is horrible with all the Druddigons. I caught a Golett out of aesthetics but considering it was hard to catch because all my Pokémons killed them, I doubt I'd use it ever.

Cheren and Brycen fight like four grunts each and I'm left the rest. BASTARDS. A lot of PLASMAAAAAAAAAA! battlecries ensued. A Sage tells me again how Lord N has ~*~chosen me~*~. Yeaaaaah, considering he's been poking at me since my journey began, I'd say it's all his own special snowflake decision. I still think there might be hidden sexual connotations. Anyway, I really like the design of the tower. So I go up and see

...

A FUCKING GIANT 3-D BLACK DRAGON GRUNTING. Maaaaan, it really impressed me. Not that the dragon was there because I was spoiled, just the animation.

So, guys. We were late. The Villain Team leader ACTUALLY got the legendary Pokémon. And it's one with enough power to destroy a region. THE TIME TO FREAK OUT BEGINS *CHECKS WATCH* 5 MINUTES AGO.

We're doomed. Doooooooooomed!!!!!1!111!one

Ahem. Well, maybe. N goes and tells me that there's a second dragon (aka Reshiram, the fluffy white bro from the boxart) in an orb, and I should totally find it to challenge his heroshipness. And N isn't even going to stop me from getting it: he's looking forward to it!

...My Hilda is picking up her jaw from the floor. Good thing she went to the bathroom before going to the gym, too. That would've been embarrassing.

So well, N exits like a boss, and we're all outside with Mr. Juniper, just talking about how screwed we are now. Cue Alder to see what's going on in this thread, and let us know I have a date with Team Plasma at the fucking desert. They're trying to find the second orb. I arrive, Cheren also gets there but he got distracted by the desert pokes (probably grinding). That's okay, we'll get distracted by more grunts and Ghetsis wnats to talk to me. Fiiiiiiine. I dodge a lot of Cofagrigus and see that Ghetsis is telling Alder how much he sucks. This man is as nice as the smell of burnt Trubbish. Besides the fact they haven't found the light orb, we learn that Alder is a hippie hobo ever since one of his Pokémon died from a disease ;_; Poor man.

Wait, Professor Juniper is calling. We go to the museum, where everyone and Lenora were researching, and it turns out that the light orb was in the exhibition all along. Well, how about that! Right under Plasma's noses, even (remember that they went to the museum but were blinded by Dragonite skulls?). So yeah, we got it. And then they DUMP IT ON ME. At least they ask me first if I accept, but I'm pretty sure they were going to do a Zelda loop if I said no until I picked the yes option. It's not like Hilda has much of a choice: peer pressure from both Team Plasta Plasma and the good guys aside, I can't let the Pokeymans and the hoomans to be separated! Nuuuuu I love my Yoshi-tachi! ;A; So she swallows her absolute terror and takes the orb.

Remember when your Pokémon MC's largest problem was winning the Elite Four? Poor girl. That's what happens when your game has a plot, dear.

Interestingly enough Alder doesn't seem keen to face N, as he can tell he's chopped liver for Zekrom to om nom nom, but goes to the League to wait for him regardless. We all know that battle is a formality so N rises as Teh Strongest In Unova and people would listen to PETA propaganda. But anyway, there are important things to ask like for instance...

Juniper papa: So how do we resurrect Reshiram, anyway?
Everyone: ............UM GOOD QUESTION
Lenora: I KNOW! The eighth gym leader knows about dragons, he must know.
Me: How convenient :D

I left my game there, with Hilda drowning her sorrows in milkshake at the Nacrene cafe.

So, let's discuss! Zekrom was caught by N! Normally antagonists CAN retain legendaries once in a while, so it's not unheard of. But Unova's dragons have a specific mythology and theme going on. They're normally linked to heroes, not average human beings. Not only that (I'm getting ahead, but bear with me), one of them represents ideals and the other represents truth. Basically, Zekrom would choose Lloyd Irving and Reshiram Sherlock Holmes. So I'd think it's not only a matter of strength in the team -as we know with Cheren's plot, it's not everything- but more like inner strength in the person who summons them. Zekrom+Reshiram probably don't care much about what you want to do with them, but if the heart is brave and worthy for the thing they represent. Otherwise, I suppose the orb remains an orb.

THEN, N'S HEART TRULY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A HERO. This is a guy who's only an antagonist because of his point of view. He wants to be strong, change the world for what he thinks is best, protect helpless beings from suffering (of course most Pokémon aren't suffering from their trainers, but some ARE abused and unloved). So in short, he's a noble shounentard like the ones you see in Tales of games. But one who's wrong, sadly, and this is why he and his followers are the "bad guys". And he is perfectly aware that what he wants to do is cruel to some Pokémon who do love their trainers, which is probably something he realized because of MC. So... this hints that N may be batshit creepy sometimes, but he can't be a 100% evil guy. Not like Zekrom/Reshiram would care if he was, as legendaries are beyond shit like morals. But... he's complicated. And even more moe now.
