Instead of sulking about how the new CLAMP shoujo-disguised-as-shounen manga is going to suck big time, I'll resort to the usual brainkiller post. You know me. The usual.

I was gonna go to bed with my blank mind, but nmow I can't. Before that, I downloaded some advanced TRC and HOLiC raw scans, scanned by the noble and generous

flowright. A couple of coherent things to say about them.

- The return of the kitsune kid from the ramen cart! *-* And it saved Watanuki, awesome! God, I love this manga!

- No surprises about the true identity of the "secret weapon" of the "bad guys" from TRC. Really, I read in a board some people theorizing about it, and they were right.

OK, that's it. Now to the actual brain damage. Scan by Flowright, but I resized it and compressed it a little. Still big, though.

Is the staff passed on or something? But then shouldn't Touya have it? Or was Clow the king and the priest? But more importantly, why on earth is he holding a MOON staff??? I mean, I guess the type of powers *could* change from a world to another... but then why does he still have the CCS mahoujin? Sakura's mahoujin changed when she switched from "darkness" to "star", after all. Or maybe the shape of the staff has nothing to do with the type of powers, and that's why he had a sun staff in CCS in the first place. BUT IT'S STILL YUKITO'S STAFF.

This is very interesting, specially since it's Xxxholic and not Tsubasa. You see, in TRC these things are usually small glimpses into the past, but in xxxholic there's more like a symbolism.

Clow's robes are, without doubt, the king robes from Clow Country (I know, I spent two hours coloring Touya's for a wallpaper) and, while he IS holding the moon staff, his mahoujin is still the sun.

Now, since it's canon knowledge that things as destiny (a.k.a couples still together) and souls are the same; I think is safe to assume that this Clow is at least similar to the CCS's one. Clow Reed power was more sun inclined, but when the time came for making plans he always used moon-based powers (the bell, Kaho, Yue, Yukito). Maybe to keep the balance? Clow seems to be all about balance: Yue and Kero, Soel and Larg, the cards; it's all balanced between yin and yang. Even his magic was a balance between western and eastern.

The staff IS important. I'm sure of it. Re-read the first chapters of Tsubasa and tell me if Yukito doesn't seem to be foreshadowing something. Mark my words, CLAMP loves full circles and TRC will end were it all began: in Clow Country.

Yeah, you just resumed the things I was too dead and sleepy to say last night. It was painful, because they wouldn't come out in logical, connected phrases.

What if it wasn't his staff?
I mean, what if he created it for the next priest (he knew it was Yukito), the same way he created the bird staff for Sakura to capture the cards?

And another one, following one of yours.

What if he really was the king and the priest, and Clow!Touya doesn't have enough or the kind of power (for instance, he wasn't a clairvoyant) to be his sucessor as magician? That's why he only took the crown, and Yukito, who could see the future, was lent the staff of priest?

Yukito's is not Clow's staff: he liked it so much he copied it ^^;

Yep, with the clone sexless being that is Nataku from X, you would expect he would be the guy in the shadows and not an alternative!Syaoran.

This reminds me of a videogame I played (one of Zelda) when you have to face your own shadow. It's gonna be like that, two Shaorans fighting, but with Sakura-hime watching and going "OMG hoe!" I'm still uncertain if this fact is gonna make the story more interesting or more predictable.

That's exactly what I feel about it. It could be good; there are countless stories/legends/whatever where the hero has to face "himself" as a part of his growth. That's why Luke sees his own face under Vader's mask, that's why Harry and Voldemort have "sister" wands, that's why Ged from the Earthsea books has to face his own shadow... there are countless examples.

The thing is, I'm not sure it can be pulled off in TRC. So far it reads too much as "Sakura is a princess and Shaoran is peasant and they're childhood friends but what happens when she loses all her memories WILL LOVE TRIUMPH??? Plz buy kthnxz!"

TRC is nothing more of a canon, CLAMP-made baaaaad AU fanfiction. And Fye and Kurogane are the ~~Gary Stus~~ original characters XD
