Rants about TRC, covers and vampires, oh my!

Later on the day, or maybe tomorrow, there will be a TRC 4 post. Because it's soooo random, incoherent and full of "teh OTP!!" I MUST mock the thing until it dies. Hehehe. =P

But now, something I wanted to post in a comment at Laurus' LJ, but I changed my mind and wanted to bring it here.

Let's see...

01: Syaoran (self-explainatory)
02: Sakura (self-explainatory)
03: Kurogane (self-explainatory)
04: Fye (self-explainatory)
05: Tomoyo (Kurogane's former "employer", the one who sent Kuro to Yuuko)
06: Yukito (the one who sent S+S to Yuuko, Clow priest, Sakura's brother-in-law brother's friend)
07: Chii (Fye's sextoy minion)
08: Touya (Sakura's hot brother)
09: Yuuko (plot yield, Mokona's co-creator)
10: Seishirou (Syaoran's sort-of fighting mentor)

The order I don't get: I think there's none. It depends on Mokona (Apapa)'s mood, the planets' alignment or something. No, really, it must be something random. Like for instance, they have a wheel with characters' names on it and they spin it.

Characters like Chii and Seishirou had covers because they sell, not because of plot importance. That way, fans of Chobits and Tokyo Babylon/X will be interested if they see those illustrations. And it worked with Sei! It's all about marketing, really. Because yeah, Seishirou is way more important than that bimbo filler, and he's going to be bigger in plot later on, but let's face it: there are more or equally relevant characters that appeared first. But this vampire slayer is sexier, and that sells.

I'm not complaining: I liked slayer!Sei, and he looks great. But then I wonder if we will ever see Sorata or Arashi covers. Or Shougo or Primera or Masayoshi. Or Chun Hyang or Amenosas. Or Emeraulde or creepy ol' Kyle. Or Yuzuriha, or Kusanagi, or cute lil' Ryu-oh, or Outo!Souma, or Oruha, or Chitose. Or Ashura or Yasha. Or PifflePres!Tomoyo. Or evil curly girl I-always-forget-her-name, or Syaoran!clone (Fei Wan IS going to have a cover, and I bet it will be in one of the later volumes).

You get my point, right? How can they decide what is cover-worthy?

I'm noticing that all coverguys, except from Yuuko, anyone can be linked to one or more of the 4 main characters. Then I wonder, if that's the necessary connection, then that means we'll be seeing covers of:
- King!Clow (Sakura and Touya's father)
- CCS!Clow (as Mokona's co-creator, and Fei Wan's... something)
- Fujitaka (Syaoran's adoptive father)
- King Ashura (Fye's... king? Enemy? Former lover? All of the above?)
- Nihon!Souma (Kurogane's co-ninja or whatever)
soon? [this was a long question, and this ends it]

Aaaah, nothing like trying to bring logic to randomness to kill your brains out. Still, the covers are oh-so-random.

However, just something to add: if Chii could get a cover without doing nothing, Watanuki easily can XDDDD Just kidding.

Moving on. I think they're letting the vampire subplot for the almost end, and that way they can suck a lot of money from Seishirou/Subaru fangirls. However, I think the idea of Subaru being a vampire and not Seishirou is so ironic. How can he be a vampire, from all CLAMPverse, if he might angst just for the act of feeding himself from other people's blood? Of course, he might've become cold and mechanic with the years, but I can see a young Subaru (or recently converted, if their concept of vampires is like ours... from all we know, they might be members of a sort of [magical or not] predator species, but that doesn't quite fit Sei's story) starving himself so he won't kill anyone. And Hokuto bitching because he's a moron XDDDD

Then I get an Anne Rice flashback and picture Subaru hunting rats, or just sucking a bit of blood from a lot of people without killing them.

Man, I really want to write that, but I don't have the energies and it's going to sound like an OOC Vampire Chronicles ripoff. And ever more ideas: Kakyou is the elder vampire XDDD He converted Hokuto, and then she converted Subaru because she can't live without his brother. That would be fun XDD
