Eh? Eh! Eeeeeeh?!
As awesome as this minisaga is... the last page killed my brain. Again. It's been a while since CLAMP doesn't do this.
"That shop was created in preparation for something that will happen in the future. Because of that, Watanuki came. There are no coincidences in this world. Everything that happens, must happen."
Ok. What. The. Hell.
My first reaction was thinking about the Tsubasa people and the Mokona Modoki project. But then, that means Clow's1274th wish was involved in the shop's foundation. Then, didn't the shop exist before Clow and Yuuko's hot nights of sex alliance?
But! She says it's something that will happen in the future. So it either hasn't happened yet, or BWY is messing up with the strange future verbs in Japanese.
So it comes down to:
a) something that will happen to the Syaoran-tachi
b) something involving Watanuki's fate
c) something that Fei Wan and/or the wings person will do that must be stopped
d) all of the above
Of course, option b is definitely in the equation, because DUH. But I get the feeling those TRC and CCS crossovers are not there just for selling. Think about it.
ETA: Still, this doesn't say Yuuko's shop existed or not when she decided to help Clow. And so far, we see no mention to clients on the Mokona Modoki translations we have so far.

Anyway, I pretty much agree with you. And I vote for "all of the above".
About how old is the shop, though, I have no idea. It's killing my brain just to think about it..
I guess it'd make sense if the shop existed before she met Clow, or at least before they made the specific plans for Watanuki and the TRC crowd; she could've had her own premonitions, even if they weren't to clear, about "hey, it'd be useful to have a shop like that". Or something. Or maybe it was the old diviner that's friends with Yuuko. Or Mokona. Who knows.
...gaaah, I don't want to think about it. T_T I already have too many specifics to avoid when I write.

And now, I'm stuck with REM's "It's the end of the world as we know it" in my head...

Oh, no... that song is in my head reserved to X.

CLAMP always wanted to create Yuuko: a powerful character who knows and links everyone in the CLAMPverse. So I think the reason they made HOLiC first is because maybe they felt this character had to be introduced before starting TRC. And of course, TRC's main plot depends on Yuuko's intervention.
However, I believe both works' concepts were developed at the same time. I always say they ARE independent, but there are some moments when the links come and go. The Koryo palace's barrier was broken because of the spirit ball Black Mokona ate on the 1000 ghost stories night. This world was saved and this feather was retrieved because of the spirits that Watanuki attracted.
Most of the time, though, they don't need each other. The problem is we won't know how much do the works need the other until we hit their endings. Maybe the finales will clash? Will we get to see Fei Wan in HOLiC? Who knows. I don't think HOLiC owes TRC its whole existence and it's an extraordinary manga on its own. However, TRC owes HOLiC a lot.
