As I said in that post I made when I read the Magic Knight Rayearth manga, I happen to like Clef/Presea. I'm not exactly sure why, though. They've completely different personalities, and Clef doesn't seem interested in her in any canon -I understood they had Presea fallen in love with him in the anime, and so was her Sue twin sister, but I can't find manga proofs of those feelings yet.

I don't know, they look cute. And they are friends, you know.

And this is weird, as visually speaking this couple has a fat Eriol/Kaho parallel -couple I don't hate like Eriol/Tomoyo but can't exactly approve of, since I have a bias towards Kaho. Clef and Eriol are older than they look like, are wise and crafty magicians, and are trapped in a kid's body. Kaho and Presea physically resemble each other, although the latter is way dorkier. Unlike Kaho, I truly like Presea, and I'm happy they didn't kill her in the manga.

However, the fandom prefers Clef/Umi because the anime is stupid and gave some hints on Umi liking him or something. Haven't seen it all, not sure. Hence, Clef/Umi is, like, the Eriol/Tomoyo of MKR. Fanon liek whoa, and unrealistic in canon terms. Clef won't look at Umi-chan that way, never.

Sadly, Clef/Presea is not exactly the Eriol/Kaho, considering it's not canon either. And probably fanits hate Presea because she's "the competition."

Anyway, my point is this. I was reading a Presea profile today, and I was both amused and freaked out when I realized her seiyuu is Shinohara Emi. Why is that, you ask?

She shares seiyuu with Kaho.

And moreover, Clef? His seiyuu is Sasaki Nozomu. That's Eriol's.

...I'm speechless. The irony is strong in this pairing.

I'm not huge on the Eriol/Kaho thing, but nor am I huge on the Eriol/Tomoyo thing. In context, E/K's the sort of thing that makes me go >___>; but I would love to see cute fic about how they got together and stuff. XD;; Eriol/Tomoyo is the two of them being devious together. I can barely even see them being romantic. ^^;

Regarding Clef. Ah, my first CLAMP crush. He's such a cool guy, and so irritable. I seem to remember some manga interaction suggesting he likes Presea, but I'm not certain ... I'm relatively sure Presea likes him. XD; The Umi/Clef stuff surprised the SHIT out of me when I first saw it. O_O; I was always pretty sure the promoted pairing was Ascot/Umi! (I mean, he GROWS UP for her. That's *nuts*. (And he's so cute, too! XD; ))

*hugs* yeah ... well, if you find any good Clef/Presea stuff, point me there! =D

I don't like E/K because I'm still resented to Kaho and the way she broke up with Touya -tactless, she is-. Since Eriol is my favorite character, I'm picky about him and I'm not sure she's good enough for him. Now, if I had to choose between good Eriol/Kaho and bad Eriol/Tomoyo (or even good Eriol/Tomoyo, mind you), I'd still choose E/K any day. ~~I don't mind crack pairings involving Eriol/minor characters, though.~~

I love Clef, he's my favorite MKR character ^_^ About Clef/Presea canon hints in manga, I didn't see anything explicit when I reread the second arc last night. There are some scenes where they're standing next to each other, and we see Presea cares about the Guru, and she's the first one screaming when he had a sort of attack when the gate to the pillar test was opened by Mokona. But we could interpretate that as an old friendship.

Oh, Ascot/Umi is totally promoted! He even asked her if she had a boyfriend of she's interested in somebody. And there's this scene where they're having a ride on some flying carriot thingies, and Mokona chooses who goes where. And it sets Ferio with Fuu, and Ascot with Umi. When the bloody *GOD* is giving shipping hints, it's a big thing! And yeah, Ascot is really cute ^^

Now that's a good end for an entry. Anyway, my first adicction to CLAMP was MKR, I was so little at that time and I really liked presea, anyway i see her pairing with Clef a lot more than any other couple.
For some odd reasons i support the Touya X Tomoyo thing so that leads my fangirlism to Eriol and Kaho, just not that strong... ah

I think it's the anime's fault that Umi/Clef is so big. They gave some weird subtext going on there that doesn't exist in the manga. Suddenly, Clef was the ultimate Cephiro hottie (WTF?) with Umi, Presea and anime!Sue!Presea!twin all swooning for him. That's so weird. And Umi in the manga doesn't even care about any boy or young man or old man that looks like a kid at all.

I don't remember any Umi/Clef subtext in the TV anime. Was it in that horrible OVA? Maybe that's were it came from. Ascot's annoying too, but in the end I don't think Umi could care about any of them. I was always a big Ferio/Fuu fan, they are so cute.

Too bad CLAMP probably doesn't share my love of the idea of Hikaru/Eagle/Lantis. Come on CLAMP, you've done everything else, give us one three-way!

In manga there's the three-way! As Eagle didn't die, Hikaru keeps saying she likes both Lantis and Eagle and wants to marry both (OMGbigamy!)

I don't know about the anime, as I just saw the first part, but I've read in several fansites that some people think they see hints in some scenes. Or maybe ClefUmiers are like Harmonians in the HP fandom or Eriol/Tomoyo shippers in the CCS fandom, and delude themselves?

Because being close (or even not-so-close) friends always leads to romance. If it doesn't, it's the author's fault for breaking the rules of the universe. Do they have all the wacky symbolism like Harmonians, or do they skip right to the "They look cute together!" like E/T?

I know the manga so set it up for a three-way, but I can't shake that weird little one shot crossover comic with Lantis drapped over Hikaru with Eagle chilling in the background. Then again, maybe he's just not as possesive as Lantis.

Hikaru/Eagle/Lantis forever. Hikaru didn't have to choose a pillar, who says she has to choose a guy? Besides, Lantis is boring and one demensional.

Clef is still one of my favorite characters from CLAMP. I REALLY liked the fact that CLAMP made this super-cool character such a twerp.

I liked the manga way more than the anime (no Presea or Eagle death there) and I think that Clef isn't really supposed to be paired with anyone. The anime made my head hurt after a bit, ~~because of the the gratuitous fanservice~~ because some of the sub-plots were a bit contrived. The Presea/Sierra thing totally made me loose respect for the writing. (If you're going to kill someone off, make sure they stay dead, dammit.) It was like the writers went "Oops, CLAMP has that character in the sequel! Do something about it!" and, POOF, there's Sierra. Never mind that, in the anime, the fact that Ascot was responsible for Presea's death is never addressed, either. -_-;; Damnable plotholes... They need filling!

That's okay, rant along!

I think Clef is doing pretty well on his own, with no romantic relationships; it's just the kind of character he is. I still think he'd make a cute couple with Presea, though.

I think I only watched two episodes of MKR anime season 2 before my stomach rebelled.
