The crack...!! as soon as there's a version that fits inside a CD, I'm so downloading it! Silly costumes and human outfits = teh win! Dude, the ladies have less tackier taste than the guys... except Yachiru. And Rangiku. But that's sort of expected.

I don't know if the chapter was boring in itself, or if it's that people all over HOLiC comms had predicted this would happen, but it was kind of "meh". I was expecting at least some backstory, you know - and all we got was "yeah, I wore a girl's kimono, let's change the subject". *sigh* I mean, they don't even have the excuse of fanservice now, because it's not like they showed the picture or anything.

The fact that they're still shoving Watanuki's foresight in our faces should make up for it, at least a little. Except it's the same stuff we've already known for the last couple of weeks.

C'mon, CLAMP, I want my HOLiC back.

I don't know. I'm a bit tired Doumeki gets to do so many things for Watanuki, and we still don't have any character development for him. I know you're really fond of him, but he as a character keeps boring me more and more. He always acts the same way, makes the same face gestures. We know anything about him besides he's good at sports, popular, and his grandpa was a temple priest and exorcist. Sure, he's a nice, concerned guy, but what else? It doesn't help the POV is permanently stuck in Watanuki, but there are a lot of fandoms like that, and the minor characters are still better developed than Doumeki. With only four human characters, you'd think it would be easy...

Touya is deeper than him. Rikuou is better in snark than him. Doumeki... doesn't do anything for me at all. And the more XXXHOLiC revolves around Doumeki/Watanuki -with no individual development for Doumeki, I mean-, the most frustrated I'll be. I'm in a point I'm only reading for Yuuko and the creatures.

Sorry for the bitchy rant. It's not your fault.

I actually agree with you about Doumeki's character development. I really like him, yes, but it's like he got development until the eye saga and then he just got stuck. This chapter could have been a great excuse to give him some depth, and they wasted it.

I think the problem is partly the PoV, like you said, because we only ever see him interact with Watanuki (and half of that is pretending on Doumkei's part) and only a little bit with Yuuko. They always show the same side of his personality. Touya was a lot deeper because we saw him with Yukito, Sakura, Shaoran, Fujitaka, Kaho, Nakuru... If it had only been Touya/Yukito, he'd probably have looked like a boring pile of sap, too. I want to see Doumeki when he's not making puppy eyes at Watanuki, for a change.

At least they made Watanuki tell the grandfather that they're starting to get along. Even if he doesn't realy show it, it's good to know CLAMP are going to make them friends before they get to the Twu Wub.
