I'm now up to date with Avatar: the Airbender. Well, except for this week's episode. There's still not a torrent *pokes*

I might as well post my impressions, yeah. You know, except for the eeeeevil Fire Lords like Zhao, Zula (argh!) and Zuko's father, I like all characters. Really, I do.

I have my equal share of love for both the Aang group and Zuko & Iroh. Although I admit I go whee when the latter, since we see the other ones all the time.

In Aang's group, I find them all adorable. Aang could easily be a Gary Stu, all things considered, but he isn't. While he wants to have fun like a normal, uh, 112 year-old, he doesn't hide he's full of regrets and really wants to help people. While he's supaspeshul, he's also so human. He fears, he gets angry, he gets depressed. But he tries to put it all aside for his mission. And you just want to pinch his cheeks.

Katara is the voice of reason. Who knows where the fuck would Aang and Sokka would be right now with her. Not that they listen to her all the time, and not like she's right all the time -see when she got obsessed with divination: she's a silly kid, just like them. But she's the indirect reason why these boys can focus. But really, no wonder why she's a Waterbender: she really is like water.

Sokka, I sort of see him like Ron Weasley, in a way. The poor thing seems stuck as comic relief because of his temper, since he can't bend or fight. But even if he's "weaker", he has a lot of courage and inner strength. That scene when his father leaves was so touching. He really tries to defend the ones he loved, and that's what counts. And yeah, I laugh with him. He has the funniest faces.

Oh, and Appa and Momo are so cute. The animals in this show are so weird, by the way.

I liked Avatar Roku. He had to be dead (duuuuuh); it figures.

Zuko! I bet the poor guy is abused by fandom because, burns or not, he's still the hot one (pun intended: drum sounds in background). But yeah, I like him because, as a lot of people in my flist said, he's a 3-D villain. He gets a long ramble not because I like him most, but since he has the most interesting backstory.

It's so hard to see a villain with good motivations and a justification. And also, I admire him because he stood up to that general when he was younger. It was foolish, yeah, but you can see Zuko was more noble than all those Fire Nation warlords put together. And you can see, while he treated his crew like shit, he'd never sacrifice their lives for his goal. He's a relatively nice guy. Deep down the anger and angst and frustration and bad mood. But you see his contradiction since while I doubt he'd agree with a big part of the Fire Nation's plans, he still wants to be acknowledged by his father and return home. I daresay, without knowing, that he was treated by garbage by his family -except Iroh- way before he ashamed them that day. Zula being the main reason.

And now that we're talking about Iroh, I admit I fell completely in love with both characters and their relationship in that episode when Iroh gets kidnapped by Earthbenders. Zuko's road was a junction: he could forsake his uncle and master and easily fetch the Avatar, or he could save him. And see, he choose uncle over Aang! That literally killed me! They're different and argue a lot (it's more like Zuko argues and Iroh ignores him), but they care about each other. It's not just because they're family: we've seen how rotten the royal family is. It's because they only have each other. Zuko might be an impacient boy for Iroh, and Iroh might be a kooky old man for Zuko, but they respect and remain loyal to each other.

And see, Iroh is so cool. He's so weird and eccentric and happy-go-lucky and patient and wise -not smart, just wise. But you don't want to see him angry. He's a sly old fox and flip your shit out in a subtle way, that's why. But what amazes me is, he wasn't considered a traitor until the end of season one. He was still offered -and often- to become a general. Even though he followed the banished prince, he was still respected. And yet, he always said no. He'd remain with Zuko, his pupil and his foster son. The fact he infiltrated to the North Pole attack just to watch over Zuko, and when they said good-bye and hugged, it broke my heart ;_; I was on the verge of tears! And now that they're fugitives, nothing has changed.

*looks above* Dude, I talked too much about Zuko and Iroh. Maybe because they're not the main characters so the way they think is not so granted. And secondary characters always have this effect on me.

Oh, and... I'll get stones and rotten tomatoes for this, but... I like Katara/Aang. *gets a shield*
