taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Sucks to be you Clow descendants)

Sucks to be you...

GIP. I won't be keeping this new icon for long, but this is what I feel about TRC this week: it totally sucks to be a Clow descendant. Amnesia, poisonous sword wounds, noisy distant ancestors, kidnapping, clonation...

Is it a family curse of sorts?

Now a meme I've seen around: the Ask Me My Fandom Opinion meme! I hope it won't turn into wank.

How this works:
1. Ask me one fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/fanlistings/etc. in general.
2. Just one question, please, but it can (and perhaps should) have sub-parts.
Naah, ask all you want.
3. That's it. It can be as normal or odd as you like.

Okay, something I think I've never asked you: what got you into fanlistings? I've joined a few to show my love, but the thought of all that work to maintain one... that is a lot of love you've got there, you know.

Dunno, they're addictive. I like to make designs, but sometimes it's too much work to mantain a website for a character or a series or a ship or something I really like but I'm not obsessed about. While adding and updating members can (and usually is) a pain in the ass, it's not really required to write content for them (unless you really want to, or if you incorporate the fanlisting to your shrine or viceversa; with my CCS fanlistings I notice I always give info and goodies; I'm a dork.) It's a lame form to do something related to that fandom or character without having to rack your brains.

Also, it's a funny way to interact with other webmasters. I made a lot of friends with fanlisting owners, which is cool. It's a bit overwhelming, though, because people can know so much about you, your obsessions, fandoms and tastes just by looking at the fanlistings you own and the ones you want to mantain. Eek.

And when the respective network approves you for a subject you really love, or another owner gives you something you really wanted for adoption, it's such a warm feeling (I had two AWESOME adoptions this year; you'd be surprised if I tell you, but I'm rating too much.)

My first fanlisting was Kenshin Himura from Rurouni Kenshin. Incidentally, Clow's was my third approval, and I've been the only owner he's ever had.

No, tell me! :D There's no such thing as "ranting too much".

I adopted Naoko (http://www.hiiragizawa.net/fan/naoko) last month because the owner decided she needed to let go a few, and of course, Tsubasa Chronicle songs have more priority than a minor character! You can't have a Sakura-themed layout in a Naoko fanlisting, boo! I was the only one who applied for the poor thing, and at least I had the satisfaction of letting the idiot know I'm a better fan than her. *is resented because she misspelled Naoko's last name twice in the FL*

But the one I adopted earlier! Words can't express the love enough, so I'll let the link (http://www.hiiragizawa.net/kurogane) speak for myself. I want to shrinify him, because really.

And for non-anime fanlistings... I don't know if you have read anything from Good Omens yet, but for the amusement factor: I was approved for Crowley... on 6/6/06 XDDD

♥ to both!

I haven't started Good Omens yet, but I know enough to get that, at least :P

Lemesee...

Which manga/animes have you always (or for some time, whatever) wanted to read but you still haven't? And why do you want to read/watch it/them?

[identity profile] bramblyhedge.livejournal.com 2006-06-17 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, so what's the main reason you prefer the FMA manga over the anime version (& yes, you can say "the Fandom/s" if that's the reason ^_~)?

Eek, eek, this could turn into wank. Eek.

Well, I tend to like manga over anime in most of my fandoms. Also, I started reading the manga, unlike a lot of people who were lured by the shiny anime (and it IS shiny, and I did enjoy it at the time I watched it, unlike some people think about me. Still, I was reading the manga before the anime existed.) But I like the manga better because I like the way characters are developed in the manga better. Also, Arakawa is the best shounen manga storyteller I've seen, and she has the ability to potentially break your brain in every chapter. I like my brain fried with some chips, thx :D The only time the anime broke my brain in an Arakawa way was at the end of episode 50.

Also: Xing characters ♥

Fandom has nothing to do with my preference. We have crazy people in both sides XD Actually, I'm not excempt from the crazy stick.

What about Ame Warashi do you find appealing?

She's a rain spirit AND she's a cranky bitch. That's appealing to me XD

Okay, since I failed the first time around...

SHEEP PLUSHIES. So British humour of him.

(You haven't failed. I just don't have an answer yet)

Let me see...

What anime/manga character you hate the most?

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
That's hard, because I think I'm not holding such a huge, visceral grudge against anyone in particular. There are characters I can't stand, like Chii or Kobato, and some others I want to cut their balls off, like Hoji in Rurouni Kenshin or Gendou in Evangelion or Envy in FMA -although he probably lacks them, anyway-, but I think there's no one I have such strong negative feelings for.

[identity profile] sha-chan.livejournal.com 2006-06-19 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
umm, Rurouni Kenshin: Kenshin Himura or Hitokiri Battousai? Why?
ext_387179: A sea turtle swimming (Sokka / beautiful day)

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2006-06-19 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, I like both. Kenshin is really cute and thoughtful on other people's needs. Hitokiri is rougher and more violent, but he's as much of an idealist as his adult self will be. I don't know, I love them both. They have their flaws and good qualities, sometimes even colliding.

[identity profile] sha-chan.livejournal.com 2006-06-19 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
and what do you think about Hajime Saitou? Who do you think would've won if he and Kenshin ever fought again? or do you think it'd always be some kind of a tie?
ext_387179: A sea turtle swimming (Default)

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2006-06-19 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I think he's a cool character, but I've never been interested in him a lot. Don't know why, since he's so complex. Then again, my tastes tend to be unpopular.

I think Saitou would've won if they fought before Kenshin had learned the secret technique. But after that, I'm not sure.

[identity profile] sha-chan.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
who do you like best? Kaoru or Tomoe?

i'll stop asking if you tell me to ^^'
ext_387179: A sea turtle swimming (Default)

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
And you keep asking questions I can't give an answer. I like them both, dammit. I identify more with Kaoru, but Tomoe makes me bawl like a baby. I'm surprised I support BOTH canon Kenshin!pairings.

I don't mind, go on XD

[identity profile] sha-chan.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
(just to think about something else..)

I know what you mean, and I think both of the girls were perfect for Kenshin at its time. Tomoe was just so awesome and she fit with Battousai. He was just like a kid, hurting, and she was there, all quiet and loving.
And Kaoru, supporting Kenshing and believing in him. Perfect for Kenshin's redemption.

Let's see~ what if Shishio was able to fight freely, do you think Kenshin would've been able to win?

Yay :D making these questions is fun xD

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Like, with no burns?

That's hard to say, because he wouldn't be able to do those fire techniques, would he?

But assuming he could... Shishio would win, I think.
