I reread Wish today, and I seriously had forgotten the large amount of sexual innuendo. It's just amazing. What's the target audience's approximate age, again? Dayum.
I watched XXXHOLiC #16 raw today, and I had so much fun regardless of the script changes. Well, they completely cut Yuuko kicking ass. Actually, Yuuko seldom appears in the episode at all. After Watanuki gets inside the jar, she goes inside with Mokona to eat and drink.
So no, no wings. Therefore, this could be a proof of Fei Wang being the guy behind it. Because, as you recall, we can't be having with Reeds in this anime.
I think they did mention the wink to Gohou Drug, though. Also, Zashiki's pins were Piffle brand! (However, "Piffle Phings"?! WTF Engrish?) Personally, I'm still a bit annoyed they renamed the Duklyon fast food chain in the last saga and, yet, the vases still had the D while the restaurant's name started with R. Yay consistence.
Because the White Day thing was out of the question, and the lack of Yuuko doing magic (does she even do something particularly magical in the anime at all?), they had to lengthen the silly things. It's not that bad for me, since I like the youkai and spirits in the series. It was like the Shiritori episode in a way.
We got Kudakitsune jumping at Watanuki a lot while he does different chores. Good stuff, very funny, I LOLed. The time inconsistence, though, hurts me. We never heard anything during the twin saga about Kudakitsune bothering Watanuki when he had to work at Yuuko's. It's just like that huge fox was just hanging around somewhere else between the wings thing and this episode, and just decided to glomp Watanuki that particular day. This is why I truly dislike the shuffle between arcs, because things don't get sense afterwards.
I thought it was funny how Kudakitsune bangs the floor with its tails in synchrony while Watanuki cleans the dust XD Also, in its big form, it sounds like a dog.
While Watanuki is outside, he finds a package at the well's mouth with food. Considering there's a blue firefly, I'm to assume Zashiki Warashi had sent it, perhaps as an apology of sorts. Kudakitsune likes the dish and swallows one of them.
The next day (or that same afternoon?), Watanuki, Doumeki and Himawari go downtown to do something. Himawari gets in a jewelry/mahjingies shop to see the stuff inside. Watanuki sees the hairpins and buys one for Zashiki -with Doumeki asking him in tease (I guess it's tease; Doumeki's voice is so monotonous) if he's into that-. I guess he buys it to thank her for the food? Or are the P.I.G. retards trying to push for het?
Kudakitsune pulls a Dino on Watanuki when he returns to the shop. Sans the licking, I guess? Back in the kitchen, he feeds Kudakitsune with one of the dishes. Yuuko enters and asks him about the dishes, and then she points out how one of the shapes in Kuda's forehead disappeared (it happened at the well, and I don't know why it's that. Something in the food?)
Mokona finds the jar at the storage room. It's colored white and blue, if you want to know.Are you sure it wasn't stolen from Galicia? Until he goes to the sacred mountain, it's the same thing. Same preparations, I think same dialogues (except the Yuuko thing), same sequence of events. Inside the jar is really pretty and shiny, whereas the mountain and the forest they added in it look sombre. The daffodils' voices are high-pitched with echo, which I found perfect. Them growing up and shrinking back was great.
Oh, and I almost forgot. Kuda keeps kissing Watanuki in his face. With strong kissing noises XDDDDLearn, Bee Train
Zashiki is as cute as ever. The flute music sounds pretty.
Here we'll have the changes. She actually apologizes for what she did to Doumeki and asks if he's okay. The conversation feels longer, but I don't know if it's because it is, or because they made it go slower.
When the Karasu Tengu appear, Zashiki tells them to stop. And they do and crash onto each other in midair. But then she grabs Watanuki's hand and they run through a forest, with the Tengu chasing them. It does sound funny because of the Tengu screaming, but I don't entirely get it. Tengu are supposed to be overprotective brother figures to her, so it's not like they're violent stalkers or angry ex-boyfriends or anything to run away from. I mean, they obeyed her and stopped!
And in that, she suddenly stops because of... I don't know why. And before the Tengu can hit Watanuki, Ame Warashi's voice's stops them. WTF?! What is Ame Warashi doing above their mountain?! I mean, sure, I love Ame and she's supposed to be in anime Zashiki's BFF, but... yeah. Do they HAVE to push her in every episode with this group? What is she, XXXHOLiC's Renge?
Her umbrella crashes with a tree branch and she falls. LOL.
Then Ame takes control of the situation and asks them why they're chasing them. And Zashiki says they're wrong, that she was crying because she got the hairpins and shows them to Ame. She asks what was that, and Watanuki replies. Ame takes the pins and puts them in Zashiki's hair -the side without the flowers, of course. She looks pretty but isn't that a bit too much?
And another plothole is here, because Ame doesn't seem to notice or care about Kudakitsune, when it was hers. For someone who's kind to flower spirits, she's lame to animals who were under her command. Man, even its former owner forgets about the poor fox...
Then they take them to the stone where Zashiki was playing flute before. If he jumped in the pond, he'd return. He says goodbye, and Zashiki starts crying again. And the Tengu go batshit again. Watanuki jumps in before they could approach him. Lame.
He exits to the well, like in the manga. Yuuko wasn't waiting for him, although she goes greet them when she hears them coming out. She leaves to the house, while Watanuki glances at the full moon, and a firefly flies around him. (P.I.G sures likes their blue fireflies)
We finish with Watanuki trying to eat the remains of the dish in a bowl of soup he made, but chibi!Kudakitsune manages to eat the small portion before Watanuki can. Poor guy.
In short, it had good things and bad things. It made me laugh, though, if I ignore the plotholes and the lack of Yuuko and the presence of Ame Warashi without a strong reason. At least it looked pretty.
