Wow, it DOES look ugly...

Still, from people complaining, I thought the new update page would be WAY worse. But yeah, ugly. And boring. SixApart's motto must be "if ain't broke, fix it anyway."

If you haven't seen this: OMG Mugetsu/kudakitsune plushie! ♥

I had three things to do today:

a) Pay the remaining payment of college. I, um, well. It was 9:30 am, and I was soooo sleepy, and I misread the receive. It said the whole year was two hundred and something, and this payment was eighty-something, and I understood I had to pay the two hundred (which I didn't have) so I left. FAIL from me.

b) You'd think El Corte Inglés, the biggest department store in Spain, would have employees who know when a certain game will arrive. Not only that dumbass had no idea, but kept arguing to me that the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess didn't exist and never would.

"But the official Nintendo Europe website says otherwise!," I replied. "There IS a Gamecube version, and will be released tomorrow the 15th."

"Well, er, even if that page says so, I haven't heard of that game ever coming here, sorry," asshat said.

And then she went ahead and told me they (El Corte Inglés) aren't going to get any new Gamecube games ever, and the only ones they were going to sell are the old ones they had over there.

...Way to go, asshole. Your ways to scare customers away is astounding! *thumbs up* Also, Elcorteingles.es disagrees with you as they're selling that game that doesn't exist and you guys aren't getting evah. If it wasn't for the shipping rates and the 10-day delay, I'd buy it online.

And then my uncle asks around in Carrefour, and they don't know about the game coming out tomorrow either. *facepalm* What the hell, department stores in Coruña. At least they didn't deny its existance while implying the Gamecube is obsolete.

In short, FAIL from everyone, but especially from the retarded Corte lady.

Tomorrow I'll be calling the stores anyway. Oh, I think my brothers and my mom know a videogames-only store, so I'll ask them the number.

c) Picking the new LCD monitor up and installing it on Larg. If you think having to deal with the new update page is bad, try to adjust your myopic eyes to a new resolution. I'm going blind or something. It so happens the monitor CAN do 1024x768, which is the largest resolution I can handle, but it looks all crispy and shitty. The 1280x1024 looks perfect, but after half a hour of doing random crap my eyes hurt.

So I'm using my Toph icon while I'm adjusting to this shit, because I'm wondering if I'll go blind. Hopefully, I'll be able to find settings to make 1024x768 suck less.

OK, I'm making a disk defragmentation now, so I'll move to the laptop. Meanwhile, a meme.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, amewarashi sent to me...
Twelve mon_starlings drumming
Eleven icephoenixs piping
Ten csakuras a-leaping
Nine icons dancing
Eight slayers a-milking
Seven books a-swimming
Six ducks a-laying
Five po-o-o-olar bears
Four star wars
Three emperor penguins
Two smashing pumpkins
...and a duklyon in an astrology.
Get your own Twelve Days:

A Duklyon in an astrology what?! But the rest is sorta amusing XDDDD I love how they picked up my animal interests because it sounds like the original carol or something.

And "fiiiiive polar beaaaaars!" makes me think of Lost. And I think I've seen an image (I don't know if it was fanart or official crack art, but I recall seeing it) with chibi Gourry in a cow costume *brain breaks*.

Can books swim? Wouldn't they just at the best case float and get too wet to be readable?

[identity profile] su-chan.livejournal.com 2006-12-15 09:47 am (UTC)(link)

O Centro Mail? O Game Centro Mail?

LOL Colbert.

[identity profile] suikascented.livejournal.com 2006-12-14 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] suikascented.livejournal.com 2006-12-15 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)

SixApart's motto must be "if ain't broke, fix it anyway."

Along with "if it is broke, then break it some more".

About the Corte person, discount "department" stores are notorious here for compartmentalization. If you ask a random employee where a type of item is, half the time they won't know, and sometimes even the "specialist" won't know, either. For their employees, quality isn't important; what is important is the wages and making sure that they follow procedure to the letter. Chances are that your encounter was with someone who was told by a superior to say that they wouldn't be stocking new Gamecube games ever and that she should stick to that story, no matter what.

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2006-12-14 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It was most likely like that, but she could've told me politely she had no idea when and if they were getting it, and that's it, no annoying "explanation". I would've left in a calm way and without starting to loathe the videogame department of that store. A less patient person would've never set foot on the store again because of the uncalled rudeness and wiseassery.

[identity profile] ayasugi-san.livejournal.com 2006-12-14 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
If possible, I'd avoid that store from now on. Especially because, if she was following "procedure", it's likely that the store manager told her to say that; probably for reasons along the lines of "never tell a customer 'I don't know'". And if that's the case, then other sections of the store are likely to have shitty service, too.

It kinda reminds me when I asked for a certain kind of denim jeans to my uncle when he went to N.Y.C., and since the store(s) he went to didn't have it exactly like I wanted he told me "they don't exist anymore!"

Sad thing is that store is the most complete department one in the city. At least I don't buy my clothes there because they're so expensive, but in some other areas they're better packed than the one I normally go to (the one I said they didn't know either but didn't make shit up.)

[identity profile] threeleaf.livejournal.com 2006-12-15 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
