taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Yuuko / Magnolia scent)

Why the fuck am I searching on botanics in the Japanese Wikipedia?

Yeah, guess the fandom. Come on, guess. Of course, the one that started the fucking magnolia paranoia.

It all started when I looked for the kanji hiiragi (柊) in google, because I suddenly wanted to know what kind of holly is that one.

Guess what. It's not even a holly.

Turns out hiiragi's species is Osmanthus heterophyllus. But see, Osmanthus are from the family of olives and have nothing to do with Ilex, the genus of hollies.

Incidentally, though, one of its common names is "false holly" (because some of its variations do have holly-like leaves, I assume).

Hiiragi are shrubs (or, if tall enough, short trees), their fruits are dark blue and look a lot like holly's, and their flowers are small and white with a pleasant fragrance. They're more common in Japan and Taiwan.

And now some more botanics that won't -directly- have to do with Eriol:

- Sakura (桜), cherry blossom.

- Fuji (藤), also known as the Wisteria genus.

- Nadeshiko (撫子), also known as the Dianthus genus.

- And who can forget Prunus persica (桃), which is the peach tree?

Enough already. There are more flower names around, but I'm a bit dizzy already.

I have two cherry trees one in the front yard and one in the back. the one in the front leaves small sour cherries and the one in the back are the ones we could eat. next year when the bloom I'll take pictures of them, like I did this year. I really love sakura blossoms.

I love red tulips. Nobody in my family has them anywhere. I also like pinetrees. We had a dwarf one once.

...So? What was the subject, again?

I can't take some picks of my tulips in my mom's garden, when they bloom. *she likes flowers*
