So in a moment of procrastination last night, I read Magic Kaito by Gosho Aoyama (aka Conan mangaka). Now, I've always liked detectives since I was little, but Japan's obsession with what they call "phantom thieves" is contageous. I've already read mangas about kaitou, like DNAngel and a bit of 20 Mensou no Onegai. Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne I didn't like.

But Magic Kaito, while not being serious, was so nice to read. Unlike Conan, which is all serious with random comedy relief, Kaito is comedy with random serious moments. I enjoyed it a lot, maybe even a bit more than Conan (then again, it could be because I needed to read something light at that moment).

(Sometimes it felt like something Rumiko Takahashi had created instead of Aoyama XD But I think that's since I'm not so familiar with Aoyama's comedy manga. I remembered [livejournal.com profile] toshikun's theory at Misión Tokyo, whether it's true or not I see where it came from XD)

I really like Kaito's character. I like how his dorkiness is so obvious in his manga, something you couldn't see in his cameos at DC. He acts his age a lot, and that's cool.

(Also, it's weird how I think he looks average cute normally, but when he's dressed up as Kid... dayum, he looks hot~~~)
