I don't even know how to pronounce that.

Well, I kinda gave up on retelling my adventures in Zelda. From now on, I'll just comment on the crap that frustrated/amused me. By the way, I didn't play yesterday because I was feeling PMS-y, so I'm still hanging at the Forest Temple with the baboon fanclub.

But I'll make a longer entry when I pass the fucking dungeon.

By the way, mom bought me a Wiimote as a part of her present (the other one will be a handbag, when we figure out what kind of handbag I'd wear). I was supoosed to buy the Nunchuck half by my own. Except it's sold out everywhere, so I'm screwed and won't be able to have my ass properly kicked by my brothers this Christmas.

I'll also make a longer entry on what I've read so far in One Piece when I'm done with the Skypiea arc.

And speaking of OP, I don't know what in heavens made me download Cross Epoch, aka Oda and Toriyama's very own Tsubasa AU fanfiction crossover of Dragon Ball and One Piece. Which, you know, would sound so scary in normal circunstances. And it looks like it broke the brains of everyone who's into shounen, but incidentally it didn't break mine. You know, after seeing Kamui and Subaru as vampires and Seishirou and Fuuma as their hunters, Vegeta as a sky pirate with Trunks, Usopp and Robin in his crew is kind of saner to me. And funnier. Actually, I think the whole thing was such a good crack. Funny, IC crack. OMG you can make an AU recycling your characters with them still acting like they were! It *almost* made me want to write Cross Epochverse fic, except I've never read DB.

Some comments on HOLiC #8 after reading the Spanish version:

1. LOL @ your usual weird transliteration of spirits' names. Karasu tengu are still "crow gods", zashiki warashi is still "spirit of Japanese houses" (WTF do they even mean by Japanese houses?! every house in Japan? houses that were made in a feudal Japan style, even if they're overseas?) except this time they went cuckoo and changed the "espíritu" in warashi for "espectro" (Spanish for spectre, ghost.) Dude, stick to ONE term, they all have different cognotations! Zashiki and Ame aren't dead human! And of course, who can forget Mugetsu's very own "magic ermine"?

The new ones: "bird gods" for tengu, "black widow" for the lady spider (LOLWTF), "ray demon" for the raijuu, "cat girl" for neko musume (LMAO).

2. I had completely forgotten about this part. After Watanuki and the karasu tengu were transported, Mokona asks this:

"¿Se las arreglará sin mí?"

Roughly, I'd translate this as "Will he handle/cope without me?"

*nods and smiles* There's no doubt. There you go. Larg is so obviously there to protect Watanuki. How was it translated by fans (or Del Rey), again? I lost the links to earlier-than-volume-10 translations, and I don't want to touch BWYS with a ten-foot pole for accurate translations.

3. Noes!

Bueeeeno. Ya sabes.

You know, I don't mind that they transliterate the spirits names. That's what they mean, after all. Things like "dioses cuervo" doesn't sound bad to me. *shrugs* What does bother me is when they make mistakes (WTF armiño), or that they can't just pick one and stick with it. ¬_¬ (And I would've translated zashiki warashi as "espíritu de las casas", period. Anything else goes in the translations notes that HOLiC should have.)

*weeps for the Clow/Yuuko moment, RIP*

Dioses cuervo, demonio del rayo and so on aren't bad to me. Probably it's easier to them to do that than gathering info on mythology to compile a translator's notes page, spiffy as it is. I also was fine with espíritu de las lluvias, but it's that: espíritu/spirit was fitting because it doesn't only mean souls of dead people I've always found Holy Ghost in English a bit misleading *shrugs*. I don't like it changed to spectre, because I use it with a different meaning, and it's not consistent.

Now, armiño mágico is just LAME and bloody confusing for people who don't follow the fandom but have seen the nine-tailed foxes in other series.

Hear you on the Holy Ghost thing

You're right about espíritu vs. espectro. Especially because there's a very WTF moment in volume 5 where they try to explain the difference and it doesn't make sense at all...

With Mugetsu, I still think they said white = armiño and left it at that. Bah. :/

That's the most confusing part, you know x____x During this whole volume, every girl-shaped creature except Neko Musume was refered as an espectro; even lady spider called herself a espectro. What are you, a dead spider?

Oh, I forgot to tell you I agree with you on Zashiki Warashi.

I think it was how most people relate armiño with those fur stoles, and linked it to Mugetsu's obsession with rolling around Watanuki's neck. Because you know, not all armiños are white, and there ARE white species of foxes, like the so-gorgeous arctic fox. They could've also used hurón if it was for its looks.

Every single day, my friend grabs me by the shoulders and relates to me her adventures in Zeldaland. Hyrule? I don't know. It's fun.
