Sakura: she's like a yo-yo, in a way

Again, I shrug to the inestability (IMHO) of Sakura's characterization and how rushed the issues are handled. I already ranted at Su-chan's the other day.

Again, I shrug to the S+S of any combination.

Again, my mind gets stuck in places nobody else is:

a) ...Yuuko looks so sad. I mean, she's looked sad or disappointed before when dealing with some wishes and TRC people. But there's this horrible sense of sorrow and doom on her face! I'm sure she knows what vision Sakura's talking about; she obviously has to. Is it because of this posible future? Is it because the girl's attitude -in a good or a bad way, dunno- breaks her heart? Or is it because there's a big, IC possibility Clow Reed (not king Clow, but Clow Reed) said that same thing to her, and that pains her so? (*hides shippism* what? he was her friend, goddammit)

b) Speaking of Clow... What a stupid thing to tell your daughter, king. Then I see probably Clow Reed was getting involved to change the future, and then I go all meta and wonder if he actually managed to change something in his own world (*cough*CCSplot*cough).

c) The Clow country fangirl in me is delighted to see/hear about priest Yukito again, even in such a peripherical way. And I'm amazed that he actually uses a room/cave filled with water to predict the future. Now his deluxe cover is several times prettier by this fact! Hey, this is all tiny new canon, but I really like that, and this time it isn't ambiguous *glares at previous king*.

Alabasta > Clow country yet, yeah, but I really missed that place.

d) POOR SOEL IS GOING TO SUFFER SO DDDDD:

The fact it's mommy Yuuko the one reminding Sakura of Mokona opposing made me go "awwwwwww". *pets her metaprecanon*

Alabasta > all desert countries. Touya, you're a really pretty king and so was your dad, but the Nefertari are so much better than you in everything.

I haven't actually seen the chapter yet, but my thoughts from what I know...

About a), I think it's a bit of the three things you mentioned. I do think that she doesn't agree with Sakura: remember all she told Watanuki about how he shouldn't make stupid sacrifices that'll end up hurting the others even more.

What a stupid thing to tell your daughter, king
I don't think it's stupid in and of itself, because it goes well with the themes of CCS/HOLiC and with the *real* Sakura. (I haven't thought if Clow managed to do it or not in CCS; I have it filed as "stuff CLAMP didn't even think about". But Yukito changed his own future.)

The problems I have with that line are three, in order of importance:

1. You can't just say that, knowing her circumstances, and not add "but you REALLY have to know what you're doing".

2. He told Sakura one thing and Touya the exact opposite.

3. ... it pains me, but. What I said in #2? It sooo reminds me of a Certain Character That I SHALL NOT NAME DAMN YOUUUU CLAMP

*fumes*

*waits until everyone stops hiding from her*

Seriously. If CLAMP is going to ruin (a) Clow's characterization, then please let them be two different guys? Pretty please? Or I will convince myself that TRC never happened and the HOLiC side is all about Watanuki.

I saw the Chinese scanlations.

Yuuko's job sucks so DAMN MUCH. I think the problem is she has to grant wishes whether she likes them or not. It doesn't matter that she knows if it'll turn out right or wrong. She has to suck it up and grant it, period. I think it must've happened a lot to her with those things related to Watanuki (the eye thing, the window thing...) Her opinion doesn't count: she can give an advice, but the decision is not hers and she can't push the clients in any direct way.

I meant the phrase was stupid because probably the king knew to some extend, yeah. You don't say that to a girl with "the power to change the world" either, I think. Probably Sakura would be angsting in silence instead of doing things that'll hurt people if the king had kept his mouth shut.

...I didn't remember that about telling that to Touya, but now I feel like headdesking. ;_; Of course Sakura can change her future because she's teh 1337, but Touya has to stay at the kingdom and accept anything during his whole life because it's fated. Or something.

Did Yukito really change his future, though? Just because Clow couldn't see it doesn't mean it wasn't going to happen. Perhaps he had the Yukito+Sakura visions when he was drunk and misread them.

If the King is Clow Reed I'll cry a lot.

Hmmm, I guess I might be influenced by personal interpretation with the Yukito thing? The way I understood it, it's not just that Clow messed up predicting Yukito's future: he was completely artificial, and he was created with a very clear goal. But then he went and did something different. (At least that was the impression I got from reading CCS alone. TRC makes everything stop making sense.)
