[Sharing shit] Cardcaptor Sakura by CLAMP

First canon pimping. Here's the 1/4 part of CCS. Pretty accurate to do it today, April 1st, day in which the main character was born.

Cardcaptor Sakura

This is the story of a pretty magician called Clow Reed, who had an unusual heritage for his time, a weird way to do things, a medium-sized reason to angst in the CLAMP scale of doom, and too much free time in his hands. He had made two cute creatures and a deck of magic cards and two Mokonas, but that was another canon, and he lived as happy as he could with them.

...Okay fine, the story is set decades after his death, and told from his heiress' point of view, but he's still guilty of everything.

So yeah, follow the adventures of 4th grader Sakura Kinomoto, who's forced to gather temperamental cards-spells with the help of a mascot who looks like a toy, a best friend who has a fetishist crush on her, and a foreign grumpy boy who knows kung-fu. The genre is magical girls. Not as epic as Sailor Moon, not as smart as Princess Tutu, but it's still cute and funny to read and it doesn't drag as much as the anime version, as there are less cards to gather. And the guys are pretty to look at, which is cool.

And there's the canon pairings. If the childish premise doesn't convince you, the not-so-politically-correct couples should. You want normal het? You got it. You want gay/bisexual teenagers? You got it. You want lesbians? You got it. You want male/asexual or alive people/ghosts? You got it. You want teachers proposing to their students? You fucking got it. And so on. This shit is bananas. Not as much as X and RG Veda, but you know, for the genre itself it's pretty WTF.

By the way, it's not gory as Tsubasa, and I promise you the main characters in CCS are pretty much different from their TRC versions. RLY.

Are you seriously posting the entire series scanned and zipped?

Hasn't this been published in most countries by now? Dude, that's not cool.... =(

Yes, sure, and I own the thing in my local release and some volumes in Japanese. Still, that doesn't mean everyone can buy it, even though it's available in gazillion countries. I couldn't find this manga in my homeland at all; actually, it's a miracle if you find any imported manga of any series at a price you can afford. And credit cards and online shopping sometimes are out of the question. Scanlations are the way I read manga, licensed or not, before I moved to Europe. I'm unable to forget my "roots", shady as they are. Even if I end up buying for legal what I liked afterwards.

But eh, it's true people who ARE able to buy it will leech this without giving money to the creators and publishers. Then again, a lot of people download entire discographies of bands/artists and entire TV shows without any remorse, without considering to get the CDs or the DVDs in a store. Sadly, this is the Internet, and everything is shared and distributed, legal or not.

Besides, I normally download scans of stuff I own or will own when it's out here so I can make icons or check the canon when I have no access to the books.

This warms my heart-my very first manga, this was, guilty of throwing me into the fando-WHAT?! I HAVE NO CCS ICONS?! Man...oh well, this will have to do.
Seriously, though, I watched the horrible hacked-up Cardcaptors, and I always wanted Li and Sakura to get together, but I figured it was a kid's show and they wouldn't. But then I picked up v.4 of the second series and THEY WERE HUGGING! Seeing that is still a nostalgic memory.
I'm an old fool...an old, teenage fool.

¡Muchas gracias!

(y a ti obviamente ^^)
