taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Winry / eye for mechanic details)

Nnnnnnnnnnnnng!

The mouse's scroll wheel is broken! DDDDDDDD:

The rest of the mouse works fine, but it's extremely annoying to be unable to scroll a page. Weirdly enough, the third button under the wheel is perfect.

I have no money to buy a new mouse. Not until next month.

By the way, I bought FMA #4 yerterday. I had completely forgotten how adorable Winry is in this volume. Of course, there's the Hugheses overload, which is cute and sad at the same time. And also Bradley's first appearance. It's so incredible to read all of these right now and see all the foreshadowing.

There's also the Black Hayate omake, with military goodness. I wonder if the Eastern country which Havoc says they cook dogs is either Xing or the island Breda said shogi comes from.

I must read FMA some day. I've been watching the anime and so far Winry annoyes me because in one of the early episodes she uses her feminine wiles to get guys to buy her things, and that's a trait I cannot stand in RL or fiction! I so want to like her. Hopefully she improves for me.

Uh, WTF *can't remember that in the anime at all* No, she never does that in the manga. The most presents she's gotten were regular hoop earrings from the brothers, and that was just to apologize for stuff; she didn't ask for that and never uses her curves for anything.

And hell, even if you still dislike manga!Winry anyway for other reasons, you really should give the manga a huge chance. The plot and characters completely different to the anime version, and it's really complex and detailed for a shounen.

It's in episode eight, the filler they added in with Barry the Chopper. While she doesn't directly use her feminine wiles (I mean she's eleven at the time, so she doesn't really have any), she does seem to beg in a manner that I would consider OOC for her manga self.

I think someone on the anime staff really didn't like Winry... >>

Dayum, I really didn't remember any of that. I do recall I disliked that episode's premise, especially after meeting manga!Barry's amusing side. Then again, my memories are all foggy about the anime, maybe because the canons were mixing in my head for some time, and I had to choose and focus harder on the manga for sanity's sake.

Volume 4 is one of my favorite volumes. In fact I think it was that volume that made Fullmetal Alchemist my absolute favorite manga. I love what Ed was scared to tell Al about. I love when Winry hits Al. And the resolution between Ed and Al is so perfect.

And that is also the volume with Hughes...

You know, I cried over the flashback. Which is odd because when I first read it I didn't, but yesterday I totally shed a couple of tears.

That volume is so good. It was pretty cool to review it.

That's been happening to me a lot lately actually. Not just with FMA but with others things as well. Things that didn't make me cry the first time around suddenly make me cry. I cried on the bus when I was reading the part when Winry confronted Scar and that didn't make me cry the first time I read it all. I think I've become more emotional lately. :)

And since I don't want to reply too many times. To your comment above, I actually liked episode 8 of the anime. I didn't like Barry in the anime either (he just wasn't as fun). But the scene with Ed running away from Barry through the meat slaughter house was really intense.

Yes! I'm following [livejournal.com profile] fma_reread and it really breaks my brain how many details are meaningful. This series is so much love. ♥
