23427th statement of the "I'm broken, aren't I?" variety
Well, I'm back from my mom's after an annoying weekend revolving around seventh grade maths. I kid you not. I hate tutoring my brothers. Danny never listens to me, and then he gets frustrated when the numbers won't add up or he gets a 5 on his exams. Argh.
I already got my birthday present from the parental unit. Mom is the kind of person who's unable to deliver a present the due day, which explains the strangeness of Santa Claus bringing stuff four days before Christmas (and she wonders how I figured it out...) but that's another story. It wasn't a surprise or anything, because she asked me if I'd like one of those and I agreed because it's shiny.
She bought me one of those portable DVD players with its own screen. She was already getting one from my stepfather, and I thought it was cool. So yeah, maybe an mp3 player or a Nintendo DS would be more useful in terms of my personality, but I needed a new video player anyway. Mine can't even recognize DivX, and that sucks -you can connect it to the TV, yay. It's really cute, and it even brought its own bag.
I borrowed Shadow of the Colossus from my brothers. I've only played an hour and so so far. I completely agree the graphicsand main character are drop-dead gorgeous, and it's my kind of action game alright. What's the issue, then?
IT'S ME.
I suck at videogames harder than I thought. Indifferently of genre.
I can't get the sword to show me the vital points. I spent like 10 minutes trying to jump a certain rift. I CAN'T CLIMB THE FIRST COLOSSUS FURTHER THAN THE LEG. I only could go to the top once, and then I fell, and then it step on me.
YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE EASY ONE, BITCH.
The sad thing is that I know what I have to do, but I lack the skills. sjdhfjksd hjkfh sjkdhf.
Emo and self-hatred aside, I must say Wanda is so, so, so pretty! I'm not sure if it's the Link factor or anything, but I find him hot in a physical way. His plotline is a bit hard to swallow though, because the whole bringing back the girlfriend from the dead by any means is pretty much cliché and corny. But that doesn't stop me from drooling over his cuteness.
But yeah, while normal girl gamers daydream with the Square-Enix eyecandy, I obsess over Okami and stress over Shadow of the Colossus, and feel guilty because I haven't finished the latest Zelda games. And we do have three Final Fantasy and two Kingdom Hearts, and I can't hold the interest so they're gathering dust. This is the reason behind the post title. I'm a freak even when GAMING.
ETA: Okay, beat the fucking colossus already. Yay me?

Hmm, maybe I should try Shadow of the Colossus sometime. I've heard a lot of good things about it..! But then I want to get a Wii and play Twilight Princess. D:
I also want a DS for Phoenix Wright... But I kind of want to buy Odin Sphere now.*cough* I have too many games I want. You're not the only gaming freak. :D;no subject
I don't watch movies until they're at least three years old or something, and my DVD collection is rather small. Still, I think it's nifty to have such a thing because I do download anime and some TV series, so I wouldn't have to turn on the computer to watch them (except if they are in a weird format like mkv and stuff, which sucks because I have entire series on that).
I know SotC will grow on me as soon as I can get the hang of the movements; I'm more into action/adventure stuff than RPGs. I have Twilight Princess for the Gamecube, and it's really cool as well -although I still love Ocarina of Time better. My brothers got it for the Wii, but I still haven't tested it. The controls scare me a bit, even if I've played Wii Sports.
I also wanted to buy a DS for PW because my flist is so passionate about it, but I found a way to play the ROMs so I'm more relaxed over it. *pirate*I normally don't buy a lot of games because I favor book and manga shopping over them, and I can borrow from the brothers when I own the same console (right now they're hooked on 360 and Wii, so I can't play stuff from them except old games). But I guess I'm playing way more than last year, maybe due to the fact I've found games weird enough for me to love.no subject
Ohh, nifty, watching anime on a portable DVD player. I just have a computer hooked up to the TV so I can watch it on a bigger screen. Small screens hurt my eyes sometimes, which is why I don't like getting portable stuff. :D;
I like both RPGs and action/adventure games (the few that I've played, at least) a lot~ I keep up with RPGs more though so I don't really know of too many good adventure games. :D; I haven't even touched a Wii controller yet. I should just go find one already...!
I actually tried getting ROMs, but I couldn't find any emulators that worked well!? XD;; *failed pirate attempt*I don't read any real books... just manga :D; I used to buy a lot of manga, but then I stopped so I just buy video games now. I have my PS2 and N64 all to myself! No siblings to borrow from since one is in college and the other is just into PC games. D: .. Yeah, I think I've always been addicted to playing a lot of games XD;;no subject
Ooh, I don't know how to connect the computer to the TV. I guess I normally just watch stuff on the PC because I'm lazy and lack the cables/skills for that.
I've really tried to get into RPGs, but after five and so days of playing my patience wanes and I move on to something else. It's not only being bad, but being unable to sit down and level up. I like to see results right away, and that's probably why I've only finished Zelda games XDDD; I've never got too far away in any RPG I've started, not even the easy ones.
It took me a while to gather all the needed files, but I found a way. Want me to send them to you? :D *sings "Yo Ho Yo Ho"*Awww, I miss my N64, I had to leave it when I came to Spain. Right now I only own the PS2 and the NGC (and a GBA), but since I'm not living with the brothers they're just for me. We can share our games from those two consoles, which is good. Sadly, the cube is dead and they haven't bought any PS game in ages since they're hooked on WoW and 360 now.no subject
My dad connected the computer to the TV so I'm not exactly sure how it works either, actually XD;; I do watch stuff on my computer when my parents are watching dramas on the TV computer though.
I really don't know why I like RPGs so much. I hate reading in general, and my favorite game (Xenogears) is pretty much a novel... with crappy PS1 graphics XD; I dunno. There's something about them that I really like. But if I really want to just have fun I play Ocarina of Time or Devil May Cry 3~
I would freaking worship you if you sent them to me. I've been dying to play those games, I swear XDD;;Aww, your N64 must be lonely. D: You could steal your brothers' Wii, and download Virtual Console games though, right!?no subject
And ahhh, how I sympathize with you on the lack of video-gaming skillz. To this day I don't have a video game console and one of the reasons is that I completely fail at--pressing buttons? *sobs*
Happy early birthday? ♥

Aww, I'm clumsy and not so much of a gamer (you just got me in this phase or something, because last year I rarely talked about videogames), but there are some of them interesting enough to try them out -since I'm not so much of a trend-follower and play some weird shit (I've tried to follow trends!). But the games with fandoms are either too hard/annoying for my style, or I can't afford them.
Hah, thanks :3

I agree on the hotness factor too :)
I loved that game and its melancoly atmosphere.

I already spoiled myself about the ending. It's a shame about him (and the colossi, poor dears), but I thought it was hella amazing and tragic. It was an almost CLAMPic twist, if you will. I think I'm going to love this.
I think I find Wander/Wanda/main character guy hot because he sort of reminds me of Link from Zelda in style. But he had nothing to envy most Square-Enix bishounen when it comes to looks, IMO.
