About iconmaking, I think it's as valid as any other fandom activity of expression. Therefore, it is important and relevant, but when it reaches the levels of "it's serious business!!!1!" it's not so fun anymore.

Word. I don't why iconmaking gets such extreme opinions sometimes - you have the elitist Arteeeeests who hate everyone that uses crop&border icons, or you have the people who think iconmaking is stupid. Um, no. It's no more stupid or geeky than fanfic, fanart, RPG or whatever.
