Regarding: Harry Potter

Now that I've called your attention with the most adequate LOLcat macro I could find, let's talk about the Deathly Hallows, as it'll come out in three days.

To everyone:

I'll be able to find the book this Saturday. However, I won't be spoiling outside an LJ-cut or labeled posts, nor will be using quote icons. I can't guarantee the comments here made by other people will be spoiler-free, though. So please, be considerate and don't leave spoilers in comments! And I don't mean for a couple of days, mind you. Some of my friends won't be able to buy the book in months, because not all of us live in English-speaking countries, or Europe, or capital cities. Imported books can be a bitch to get in, for instance, Latin America. So don't be a prick and think about my friends and lurkers.

For the record: I'm a slow reader in English. The book's gonna take me from two to four days to read. Consider that for the next two points.

To the nice people who comments here but I've never added back:

Sorry guys. I love talking with you, but I'm a paranoid penguin at the moment and I'm afraid I could leave a spoiler troll unbanned. Therefore, I temporarily set the default comments to "friends-only". That doesn't mean I made the journal F/O, mind you. It just means you can't comment in any post at the moment. I'll change the settings as soon as I've finished the book, and we'll be back with the schedule. I apologize to the ones who don't even like or care about HP. Kisses, I'll see you soon!

To the flist:

Since I can read you easily, I'm most concerned about you guys. I have no way to filter which ones from you are Potterfen and which aren't (I can pickhand some if I've seen you ranting about teh pottah), since I don't know some of you enough, and interest lists aren't good indicatives for fandoms. So, I'm not doing a filter for the ones who might spoil me, because I have no idea who would (again, I can identify some who wouldn't, but that's not enough).

Like I said, I'm a slow reader, and I'm not looking for spoilers for this one this time. I might not be that into HP anymore, but I still want to know the ending the way it's intending: reading the goddamned book!

The point here is:

For the love of whatever you believe in. Use LJ-cuts for your spoilers, be them fake or real!

I mean it. Please do. Please, please, please with cherry on top. If you have the need to fuck people up, don't count with me. You don't want to make a despairing woman with toothache and a bloated face more angry that she already is angry.

Also, I'll be avoiding my MSN IM account. Sorry guys.

To myself:

To-not-do list until you read the book:
a) Don't read the friendsfriends list, you oaf
b) Don't read labeled Journalfen posts, you oaf
c) Don't read comments in random websites or blogs, you oaf
d) Don't go to message boards of any kind, you oaf
e) Don't read fandomsecrets or multifandom, non-manganime comms for a week, you oaf
f) Don't enter to IM accounts other than Y!IM, you oaf
g) DON'T CLICK ON SPOILER POSTS ON YOUR FLIST, YOU BLOODY OAF

To-do list after reading the book:
Change default commenting back, you oaf

Thank you for your attention :D Have a nice apocalypse wank weekend!

I definitely will be putting all spoilers behind spoiler cuts so don't worry. Actually I think I might even make a spoiler and non-spoiler post when I am done. :)

I won't even be back on the computer after the book comes out until Sunday and I plan not to get on live journal again until I finish reading it. Of course once I get back I plan to dedicate all my time to reading it quickly as possible. I should be reading it slowly to enjoy it but I figure reading it fast means less chance to be spoiled as long as some idiots don't spoil it for me at the convention

Probably that's a good approach. Me, I'm not sure I can be strong enough to avoid the Internet until I'm done with the book, especially since even if I read it as fast as I can, it'll still take me the whole weekend at least.

I'm really hoping you won't get spoiled D: With so many unknown people around, the chances look pretty high x____x

Is that your cat? Don't tell me it's your cat, it's the cutest thing!!!!

Thankully so far I've not been spoiled about HP7, I'm completely avoiding any suspect places and sources. God, this is so annoying, why isn't it Saturday yet? >_< 3 days it's too much, I'm not sure if I'll "get through" it harmless.

You can be sure that no spoilers will come from my LJ if not behind a cut.

Hah, nope XD I found the macro at icanhascheezburger.com

It's pretty annoying, yup. I was spoiled for HBP even before the book had come out. I thought it was a hoax and not a real scan, so I went and checked it out... So yeah, I'm not reading anything this time. And for OotP, I read about the death when I visited a friend's blog, and an asshole posted spoilers at the tagboard. Nasty surprise, I tell you.

I know you would, because you always do that with CLAMP ^_^ Thanks. And I hope you don't get spoiled, either.

[identity profile] chibiyuuto.livejournal.com 2007-07-18 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I wasn't spoiled by HBP, thankfully, but I was for OotP. I was so frustrated.

Tagboard? Nasty things XDDDD I hated to code them, argh...

Also, I'll be avoiding my MSN IM account. Sorry guys.

But I need someone to debate the pros and cons of skipping the field trip to read the book (who won't tell me "Go on the field trip" right off the bat) and bitch to because I still have no idea what the field trip actually is!

b) Don't read labeled Journalfen posts, you oaf
c) Don't read comments in random websites or blogs, you oaf

Good advice. I've been spoiled (and given up trying to remain as unspoiled as possible) because I keep doing those two things. The good part is, if the pre-storm wanking is any indication, the actual release will be amazing.

Dude, I understand, but I'm not sure which one of the contacts who never talk to me will copy-paste spoilers on me. There's a lot of people from forum days who are still in my list, and I don't remember how they're like. And blocking everyone but a couple of persons is kinda too much.

I'm avoiding those links so hard, because that was me last time. I was spoiled for HBP by following the JF links to the page 606 troll. I totally thought it was a hoax and was confident, and then suddenly the text was on my book. Ugh. So I gave up and read my flist posts about other things anyway, before finishing my book.

I'll try to revive Megan so she can spam the RP with OMG WENT TO HARRY POTTER RELEASE PARTIES and shit.

[identity profile] ayasugi-san.livejournal.com 2007-07-18 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
one of the contacts who never talk to me will copy-paste spoilers on me

Wow. Not cool, if anyone did that. Maybe after you've finished the book, you can get on MSN, pretend you haven't, and see who "spoils" you? Or maybe... (http://ayasugi-san.livejournal.com/240408.html)

I wasn't spoiled for any of the HP books, so I guess I'm making up for it with this one. Also, if you see any mention of scans, do not click/read. The whole book has been scanned and posted all over the internet, so the real pages far outnumber the hoax scans.

Yay Megan! If you do manage to revive her for more than the release, talk to me, 'kay?

Latin fans are infamous for that kind of things. I never went through that myself, although after OotP was ruined for me, a couple of friends (who were also spoiled) and I opened a group chat to share the spoilers the others didn't know about -and that way, I heard about Percy acting all smug and the Cho/Harry kiss, for instance. So, it's not only a prevention matter, but that way I can't be tempted to ask people who know (including you, sorry) via IM.

Vicki swore off HP completely, didn't she? Because I was thinking about dragging someone to a midnight release, but Eriol wouldn't be cooperative for shit even if he was awaken, and Spinel wouldn't like it either.

[identity profile] ayasugi-san.livejournal.com 2007-07-18 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and if you asked me, I probably would tell you spoilers, so I could link you to the teeth-gnashing.

She did, but she's very susceptible to pressure from friends, especially guilt-pressure. And it's been long enough that she's over the Eriol-Harry thing, so she's not worried about accidentally being too open.

[identity profile] ayasugi-san.livejournal.com 2007-07-19 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, ooh! Found a comment that's safe!

I hope that the scans are of a fake, and that the author is MsScribe.

It's the only way she could top herself. It would be the greatest wank ever. Ever.

From here (http://www.journalfen.net/community/hp_cornfield/25592.html?thread=6456056#t6456056), but there are spoilers all over the rest of that post, so don't click until you've read the book yourself.

[identity profile] hungrybookworm.livejournal.com 2007-07-18 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm basically banning myself from LJ from Friday onwards. It's the safest bet for me :(

I'm still crossing my fingers for a BLEACH crossover halfway through! XD
