4. I finished (finally) The Count of Montecristo. The differences with Gankutsuoh are abismal, but I like both versions -the anime feels now like an OOC AU fanfic in space and vampires and with crack pairings, but dammit, I enjoyed it maybe because I read the book later. Funny enough, I found both endings too cheesy and "WTF this became canon?!", but apart from that it was good. Now I'll read Maskerade because I miss my PTerry.

5. Why the hell did I join clamp_lims?! I really have no idea what to do with that pic. My first LIMS and the first submission is an image theme. No on ;____; *hates image themes*

You know how icontests have weekly themes? Sometimes the challenge is that you can only use a particular, provided illustration in your submission. That's an image challenge, and it's especially awful if the given image is hard or you just dislike it. I don't dislike that one, but it's hard and I don't think I can make it pretty.

I think LIMS are more strong on images or lyrics or technical requirements. This is my first one, but from what I've seen... I just, dunno, was expecting the hard, dark pics to pop up in later rounds when I was already kicked out, and the first round to be easy so the bad or regular iconmakers could work out something.

I suspect it was the sci-fi trippyness. I do like the book better, of course. It's funny with GONZO, because I couldn't get past the first episode of RxJ, even if it had LOL flying horses and crossdressing. I don't know, I'm weird.

I really like Gankutsuou and I read the book way before I saw the anime. I do like the book more but I still think Gankutsuou did a very good job of capturing the themes of the original novel.

Really? Because I've only seen, like, three persons dissing it at most.

I'm glad most of the plot was kept in the adaptation (except for... alien parasites LOLWTF), so most things in the book I recognized seeing them before. I guess the only hugeass changes are more in the characters themselves and all those Albert-centric crushes. I have it all blurry so some day I might marathon the anime to sink in better.

It started out good but like a lot of Gonzo series it quickly went down the gutter (way to black and white for my tastes). I am only still watching it because I watched this far.

I agree with you that most of the major changes were character related in Gankutsuou. A lot of minor characters had much larger roles like Albert, Frnaz and Eugenie. Not to mention Eugenie was a lesbian in the original book but they conveniently left that out of the anime. I actually like the focus on the other characters in the anime, although I think the Count was a much more compelling character in the novel.

But I like lesbian!crossdresser!Eugenie better xP Funny enough, I prefer LOLalien!Haydee from the anime; in the book she was like over there to be a pweety pwerfect love interest and it turned me off so badly. And anime!Franz was awesome, when in the novel he started all interesting spying on the Count and shit, but then he disappeared only to be Valentine's temporary fiancé. Albert, I guess I like the same in both versions. Some improved anime versions of characters I like better, and some not so much.

But definitely, book!Edmond/Count can't be compared to anime!Count. And it's not only because he was the focus. His character was just more complex in the original version, unsurprisingly.

4. Oh, I haven't been able to find and I love Dumas. Maybe you like both versions because the differences are abismal. It's the Uncanny Valley of Adaptions: minor changes tend to bother me more than really big ones.

xDD Lo sientoooo. Los cambié porque tenía siglos con los mismos y quería usar otros.

Yo al final hice un icon como en cinco minutos pero no sé si lo subirán. Lo más seguro es que me sacarán a la primera semana y la verdad no es que espere quedarme mucho, ni que quiera, estoy en varios y honestamente me están comenzando a cansar.

Especialmente porque las críticas suelen ser muy tontas a veces (que me criticaran el tipo de font diciendo que buscara fonts en dafont cuando las reglas de esa semana decía que solamente podía usar las default del windows me hizo darme de facepalms por un buen rato) y sí, quiero mejorar, pero siento que no ayudan gran cosa. D:

4- Yeah despite the differences, I really like Gankutsuou. Plus, it was just so nice to look at. I'll probably sit down and watch the rest of RxJ at some point, but it definitely started to get boring to me.

5- Haha, it's interesting that you think that. Generally members of my contests seem to prefer image themes, but I suspect it's because then they don't have to look for their own images. XD

It's funny, because I knew someone who used to say that Gankutsuoh was fugly because of the trippy textures and other sort-of-seizure-inducing effects. I thought it was pretty original.

I normally don't like to be forced to use images. I like it when fma_icons does that because you guys offer several and you can choose from several kinds of stuff. But in the other icontests I'm in, they pick very boring pics to use (for instance, ccs_awards always chooses Sakura or Tomoyo images, which drives me fucking nuts. want to make a real challenge? choose images with other characters! and one of the mods complains all the time because members do the same old characters every week! I wonder why! *breathes*)

Pues no sé cómo será la experiencia de leer primero el libro y luego ver el anime. Es como... la misma historia, pero con en el futuro, y con vampiros alien, y con los personajes siendo gente con las mismas relaciones familiares y trabajos pero personalidades diferentes. Aunque tiene texturas que dañan la vista de buena forma y el seiyuu de Watanuki dando voz al prota! XD
