Whose magician's, I ask?
I'm really depressed now. I need some cheering up.
Anyway, I just watched the Tokyo Revelation OVA because I was bored and curious. Besides the change of order in events, sure, it looks kind of faithful to the manga.
- I've seen someone complaining of the opening sequence, but me? I LOVE it. Then again, I'm a magic dork, and they're throwing magical sigils at us, and how can't I not smile when I see, from all things, YUKITO's sigil? Animators get an A for that (not A+ because I kept expecting Clow Reed/Eriol Hiiragizawa's sigil, woes). Yuuko's and R!Syaoran's are looking neat, too! <3
- LOL, they felt like it was a comet or something. It doens't help the last movie I watched was Stardust! I even expected a crater.
- You know what I've been thinking? If these OVAs are so canon-compliant, that means Mokona's seiyuu will actually have to ACT! :O Damn it, could it be?! Mokonas with personality and brains, in my Tsubasa anime?! It's more likely than you think!
- When Fye stands on turning his back on the camera, wind on his coat, staring at the city's devastation. THIS IS X WORLD, ALRIGHT.
- ...Oh man, I thought we'd have less Sakura floating and listening to voices. *snaps fingers*
- However, there's more BLOOD. Good start! Laws on physics on Syaoran, finally! Keep it going.
- ...Dude, you can see like... Kakyou and Yuuto's hairbangs, and Kusanagi's facelines. Mystery, you say? What mystery? Anyone who hadn't read the manga and read/watched X will know they're the Chi no Ryuu before the hoodies are lowered! The funniest turn of events, fucked.
- Kurogane yay!
- And the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fight begins. Even as a cynical, it's cool shit to watch.
- Not even eight minutes, and golden vampire eyes are already kicking in.
- .......That's so skinny it doesn't look hot.
- That solves Kazuki's hair. But she kinda looks/sounds boyish. The again, so does Nataku. Even Kamui looks more androgynous.
- ...Changed my mind. The girliest one is, once again, Kakyou. But that ain't a surprise...
- That water is so BLUE, goddammit. Ocean kind of blue.
- "Kochi ga Kuro-taaaaaan! ^o^*" "KUROGANE DA!" <- probably last time I shipped it. How depressing.
- What do you know, I actually know they're talking about medicine by the dialog! Thank you, Mononoke!

- Kazuki isn't so genki over Mokona. Then again, it's so badly drawn I wouldn't find it cute, either.
- Glowing water. But the amazing thing is that it's glowing blue and not PINK OMG! :O

- The floating Sakura in water... at least I haven't seen pink yet. But I'm having flashbacks of the first CCS movie. Hopefully, Subaru won't cosplay as Madoushi. *gives you that terrifying mental image*
- Hold on, they're already on Star Wars scoooters?! Not that I care much about Fuuma, but I just realized they cut or postponed the Tower People. Huh.
- Kurogane: ...If I pwned him psychologically, why aren't I killing giant worms and he's babysitting instead? I'm bored!
- Green worm bloodshed looks like a ribbon. And why is Fye giving the final blow on the first worm, when in the manga he didn't even shoot? That's not character developing, it's Stu'ing him up further.
- Yay, they kept Kusanagi's I EET U XD It was more amusing in manga, though.
- After Syaoran hacks the worm, I remembered all the SuperStu!Syaoran stunts on Bee Train's series. Trufax. At least characters are geniuinly surprised here for some seconds.
- ...Ah, that makes it postponed.
- They also postponed R!Syaoran till now, I see. I like how the things above twirl.
- And why is Sorata sooooo far away from Arashi?!
- Fuuma's ears are big, or is it me seeing things? It's like larger than his nose.
- WTF happened to Sorata's hair while Karen is speaking? Maybe it's bad light, but it looks weird.

- Ending is all LET'S PUT PEOPLE ALL POSING TOGETHER LULZ. And poor Kusanagi doesn't even get Yuzuriha besides him, bummer. They're like, pushing Saiki/Yuzuriha or something.
- I think Kakyou is checking Subaru's ass. His subconscious is canalizing another world's self that finds teen Sumeragis pretty.
- Errr, that last one is clone post-eye-eating, right? The why does he look so sane? And so, um, fruity? It's like he stole Eagle's wardrobe. Which makes sense since Sakura is all Infinity lolita lulz.

IN SHORT:
- They deceived/confused me with the sigils and that annoyed me. Is it so hard to draw Clow's, bitches?
- I thought animation and character design was average. I mean, less ugly than Bee Train's, sure, but it wasn't OMGdelicious. And when far away, every character looked awkward.
- There isn't a dream sequence with the Syaorans interacting, nor clone going batshit for a fleeting moment in front of Kurogane and Fye. I think that's the biggest plot change. Probably some fans will complain for Fuuma getting the short end of the stick, though.
- There's a lack of cute, especially when Kazuki or Kusanagi talked to Mokona. Appalling, because that's the only cute in the whole goddamn arc.
- I'm glad nothing and no one glowed pink.
- The music wasn't recycled and was less over the top, praise the Lord.
- Will Clow get his mention in the next OVA? Will she look ugly while mentioning him? Inquiring Clow/Yuuko minds want to know.
- I still don't give a shit about this arc, though. So for me, the OVA was fine. 7/10.

I also love how pimp Kuro was. Giving Syaoran a piggyback ride, manhandling Fye, and then topping Sakura. Lulz.
Also, Fye's voice = almost disgustingly gay. Like WOW. Thankfully it seems the seiyuu for Syaoran finally hit puberty, so he's not as hard to listen to as he was in KH and KHII... And Kuro sounds his like balls are swinging between his KNEES. Good grief. I like Sakura's voice though... And I really wish Yuuko had more lines. Her voice (from what little I could glean) sounds awesome. (And I kinda wanted to hear Watanuki too.)
Ah, it's the new trend of titling things something that has absolutely no relevance to what's actually going on. ...Scratch the "new" part.
I'm going to look for Fuuma's ears.

I didn't comment on the seiyuu because I've always been either indifferent or not fond of them (exception being Watanuki in HOLiC, and he didn't talk in this OVA anyway; Yuuko is good, but not close to my mental voice).
Actually, my only strong thought on Tsubasa seiyuus is that my level of hell surely includes anime!Mokona saying retarded things in repeat.And I don't care enough about the Tokyo characters (Kamui, Subaru, etc) to have any thoughts on their voices.Fuuma's ears were half his face or something.
