Wait, what?

Seen in my Cognitive Science text, at the beginning of the deduction unit:

The victim was stabbed till death at the cinema theater. The suspect was on the train to Edinburgh when the crime occurred. Our deductive system concludes: the suspect is innocent.

Then, at the end of the unit, this jewel of a paragraph.

- Search for models for some conclusions. The murder suspect is guilty. By post-hypnosis suggestion, they managed to get the victim stab himself to death at the appearance of a certain scene in the movie. This model is compatible with the premises.

...But who the fuck came up with that? Conan Edogawa?! Phoenix Wright?!

It sounds inspired by a certain Christie book, but the hypnosis played no part in the theater murder.

Is that so? It still sounds like some weird deduction, though.

Oh, at the end of that book the whole thing is just typical Family Member Wants Inheritance thing. XP
