I needed that to pump my blood, ow

...My heart. It's been stomped, knocked down, covered in darkness, then covered in light, and finally melted in glee.

Why are you so cruel and good to me at the same time, ending of Slayers Next?

afhasgdhgasjdg Lina/Gourry ♥

But shippiness aside, I was just mentioning how lovely in the crack area Next is last night -and damn straight, it is. Today, today it chew me. The love, the friendships, the stubborness. This is how an anime must be to me. It knows when to take itself seriously, and it knows when to be silly or give out fanservice. It's usually hard to find a balance. I think I might have to blame Slayers for making me love comedy-drama equilibrium in some of my fandoms.

Come on, guys. It's fantasy, it's campy, it's filled with explosions and shiny magic, it's got great females, it breaks the fourth wall. But even if there's so much done for the lulz, the plots are also heartbreaking. Just... give it a chance. It's as good as your Doctor Whos and your Gurren Laganns. Hell, for me it is better. Slayers is fucking amazing, and if upload servers such as Megaupload didn't suck so much on me, I'd even share it with you guys.

Ah, time to have dinner.

Hear, hear!

But I already watched Slayers XD

edit: On a side note I think there are still working links on [livejournal.com profile] anime_downloads if you want to pimp the series. :)

The whole point was to convince people who never checked the series to watch it, yeah. and it was kind of bleak to make a short post consisting of "adahdagdgjag OTP shgagjd"

Re: edit. Really? Because that was the first thing I checked, and yet one of the first posts on the Slayers tag was about the old links to be dead and stuff.

I know I was just being silly, I think its cool that you are promoting it. It's a classic. :)

But these links work for Next and these for the original series still seem to work. But I didn't check every link.

Man it's been a long time since I was in the Slayers fandom, and a long time since I've seen anyone talk about it with this much love.

I wish I had something interesting to say, but i can only agree whole-heartedly with your post. Slayers is my favorite series ever - nothing will ever change that, and it stands up over time. I have so much trouble finding things these days that have even fractions of franctions of the levels of storytelling and awesomeness and sheer joy that were overflowing in every minute of Slayers.

The last four episodes of NEXT are pretty much my favorite thing ever, and because I have the season on VHS I haven't watched them in years. But thank you for reminding me -and putting into words- what a fantastic and beautiful thing it is.

I never see anyone rant about Slayers at all XD Hopefully it'll change with the new season coming out precisely today.

I'd say One Piece is really close to Slayers in those senses, although it's so damn long and it's hard to keep on. It's a whole different subgenre, yeah, -pirates with weird abilities instead of magic- but the plots are great and the friendships are quite strong and it can get funny and epic at the same time. If you can check it out I totally recommend it!

You're welcome :D I just needed to rant about it because marathoning the first two seasons messed me up too much in overflowing love.

I think you're absolutely right! Slayers Next was by far the best season. That finale was exactly what everyone was waiting for and I adore it with all my heart! After that was Try, but it didn't have the same feeling of the other two, it was something quite apart, though I liked the introduction of Luna Invers, even if we never saw her except in the op xD

I taped the final episode of Slayers Next because it was so tremedously good. My shipping was answered at last! I also have the end of Try because I liked that song Somewhere so much ^^ And the end of Slayers, because it was good, and Rina had her hair all white ^^

Well, Try was a filler arc and the original author wasn't involved, so it figures why it's not the same. Still, I kind of liked it at the time. And it wasn't as bad as, say, the Rurouni Kenshin filler arcs. Damn, now THOSE were painful to watch even not knowing they were fillers.

Next is awesome because it had the best crack while having such a painful plot. I love that balance. Even if they hadn't the kiss at the end it would've been good (but of course, it makes it better :D)
