Glass half full or half empty?
1. So new FMA anime on the works
On one hand, I'm not bitter enough to say it's going to suck enormously regardless of how they do it. On the other, I've been brokenhearted enough by anime of my favorite things (incidentally, it wasn't Hagaren itself but XXXHOLiC what kicked me in the nuts the most) not to going to be jumping for joy if/when they say it's based on manga. It could bring good things and funny scenes, perhaps, but BONES does have a history of putting cactus juice in their screenwriters' drinking water. So, I can't be sure they're not going to screw it up, but I'm not grinch enough to be sure so soon it will be screwed up. Benefit of the doubt and all.
(And I'll be sort of pissed if they do an almost flawless adaptation of the manga but it doesn't become as liked as the first series (or more). Or people don't watch it because they've already seen one FMA anime, or try to boycott it because it's not Edward And Alphonse's Most Excellent Gypsy Adventures In Nazi Germany. Urgh.)
2. So new Slayers anime gets C&D'd
I guess this means no relying on LJ to know when clandestine subs will come out, right? GodDAMMIT, I hate it enough when we foreign fans are screwed up by American licenses. But it's even more annoying if it's not even licensed yet to begin with! The levels of paranoia are just so high. I don't know about you guys, but I'll pretty much check illegal torrent sites once or twice a week in hopes to see a sub or resort to slow-as-hell Spanish fansub groups if it doesn't work. I'm not bothering with raws and text translations. I'm multitask, but not that desperate.

Well if it's like most of the other not-licensed-yet C&D situations, the Japanese company asked them to send it out for them because they're wanting to crack down on it over there as well. The Japanese anime industry isn't doing that well lately either. *shrug*

I have no idea how usual C&D's work, but I did hear it was more of the Japanese company than Funi in this case. This was the first unlicensed case I've stumbled into. And yet, I do believe the LJ fandom doth protest much for not getting it in a silver plate. I have no problem with hunting for illegal things on my own; that's how people did it before.

I haven't dealt with it more than once or twice on a series, but I think that's because I mostly follow manga titles anymore and they don't crack down on those. I actually had to defriend

At least something good might come out of it, in a personal level. My 14-year-old brothers were watching FMA: one couldn't even finish it, the other I think he didn't drop it but still thought it was getting freaking weird. I've tried to brainwash them to check the manga, but they're too lazy to read it. So if BONES were to make a manga adaptation and they don't screw up with Ling and Xing too much, they'd finally be able to understand why it's my favorite manganime series.

So that's what's going on? :( I was wondering why I couldn't find the lattest subs. That sucks mightily.

As for those fools who cling to the original anime and swear nothing can be better, I'll just ignore them. The original anime is pretty good, but really the manga is so much better.

Good enough reasons for me. It's part of my new policy: when in doubt, ignore it.

Also because I hope there might be cool Ling-centric filler episodes before the plot goes weird, a la Hughes.

then again what wasn't?). I've found that, ironically, Latin fansubs tend to be more dreadful in terms of grammar and spelling than Spaniards ones (especially since Spanish people are more netspeak and hoygan in forums and such than Latinos). Good thing I "speak" both Mexican and Castillian Spanish, man.Revolution Spanish subs in Frozen Layer are up to episode 6 while I've seen clandestine subs of 7 in English. No idea about the quality, though.
