It gets really strange when your mom goes and tells you over the wank they had with the main administrator at their Spanish-speaking cat photo group at Flickr. In one hand, you feel extremely embarrassed by both your old woman and the crazy bitch with whom she has the fight with, and want to interrupt and say "why the fuck are you telling me this I don't care" (but I figured she'd need to let it off her chest). On the other, and that might be the part of me that reads fandom_wank, I thought it was hilarious! There was name-calling, trolling and spamming (by the admin, no less!), menaces of leaving forever in four days, one or two banhammers, several women in Argentina not going to bedbecause someone is wrong on the Internet!, the bizarre bonus of people calling each other on the phone as some sort of odd alternative to flocked posts (so people supported my mom on e-mails... and phone). And the coup of grace: the crazy admin bahleeting her own account, leaving several important pictures as red X's (taking her toys and leaving?).
I'm still not reading the wank or what's left of it, however, because I dislike crossing the Internet streams to my mom's corner of the 'tubes. Too bad, because the admin sounded extremely batshit and my mom actually didn't wank that much on public.
It took a good effort not to laugh at the phone when she told me, or going "ooh, banhammer! lol troll!" at several points of her narration, I'll tell you that.
