taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Jade / why yes I am awesome)

Argh, I needed that heart!

I must talk about this episode. There's just too much.

Okay, first things first, I was sad they skipped the "but I've been fragile since I was born *fakecough*" phrase from the game because it was such a glorious moment. And mind you, they had the perfect opening. I get a bit bummed when they skip the chances to show the sarcasm/tease side of Jade in adaptations. And after watching the whole episode I think it was even more needed, since the following scenes will show him as a very cold bastard. Hell, he even says he comes across as a cold bastard, so... what can I say.

The Jade/Dist showdown was done short, but it's probably for the best. It might not be as dramatic as the Anise/Arietta duel (which I really liked, even if it also broke my heart), but they fucking punched me in the guts. So Jade quickly steps in, and sends him to oblivion with a single Mystic Cage and zero effort -while people going "WTF, he undid the fon slot curse?!" because the anime had forgotten about it. Dist didn't even defend himself, but the punch to the guts comes from the fact he tries to appeal to Jade's feelings. "Don't you want to resurrect the professor and go back to that time?" he asks.

And then. FLASHBACK.

And as soon as I see this I went "Oh hell no dsjfhjshfjhs fuck yeah szhgjhagh!" because guys? I'm a SUCKER for fluffy flashbacks.

And this is a Keterburg days fluffy flashback, at that. My weak point! DX So I felt dread and delight at the same time like the nutcase I am. And of course, I went back to rewatch it later and screencap it.

......hsgshjfghsgfhsgf. It's. It's as low of a blow as I expected! H-happy times playing in the snow all together in Keterburg Square. Everyone's so cute! And I even got an official chibi!Peony, who's pretty much there to throw a snowball at Saphir's face, which is... accurate.

Then Jade comes, and they're all waving at him so happily. S-sob.

Jade Balfour, tsundere shota extraordinaire. And d'aawwww, he smiled back ;_; END OF FLASHBACK, I'M BOTH HAPPY AND DEPRESSED.

We go back to the present, Jade winces at the Painful Fluffy Flashback, and finishes his badass mystic arte to blow Dist up (but everyone did the Nebilim sidequest knows that he survives like the cockroach he is, so it's alright). And he says good-bye to Saphir, with his face in complete shadows.

Moving forward to the summit in Daath, and the fact it's only been some minutes from this duel and the moment when Jade sort of suggest the alternative of sending Luke. That's why I'm saying that Jade must look like a complete bastard in this episode. That he is, yes, but still. You just know that Guy would've kicked him in the balls if, you know, the world leaders weren't in front of them?

So, I'm amazed that they cut Guy and Natalia's speech to Luke, but they kept the conversation with Jade. Then again, it was probably necessary to let the audience know that the suggestion was pragmatic and not something he wanted to ask a friend for. I like that, however, because I love that whole exchange in the game. I liked seeing his face while he was saying that. Oh, and the fact they kept Anise's speech, after the whole thing with Ion breaking my heart two episodes ago? Ouch. Sob, Anise.

There's also Jade noticing that Luke lied about the doctor's diagnose. A lot in the same episode.

BTW, if I hadn't watched that on stream, I would've soooo made a picspam of Jade looking cool and pretty doing the Mystic Cage. But with that LQ it wasn't worth the effort. *goes to find screencaps*

FLASHBACK SO CUTE ;;

No he visto screencaps de ese episodio aún, though. Y las raws son mierdas enormes en .mkv que me matarían mi laptop a los dos minutos.
