That was foreshadowing

I liked the first episode of FMA redux. Not perfect for an intro, true, but I had more fun watching it than I expected.

The opening sequence is gorgeous, I tell you. And yay for Hohenheim in it!

In other news, anon has enlightened me and I have now discovered I've spent a year roleplaying and developing a "pretty" character with "no personality" all based on my own imagination. Or something.

I'm not saying the characters in Apollo Justice aren't underdeveloped compared to the Phoenix Wright ones, and that their potential wasn't exploited enough in their own game, because they are. But to say there's absolutely nothing in any of them... I get a bit tired of these elitists pissing on them all the time because it's not Phoenix-Maya-Edgeworth. I find the main cast of AJ more likable and adorable than PW's, true, and that makes me this enormous weirdo. But even if I didn't, I'd still see the personality they have. It's not that loud because the game never emphasized in it, but it's there if you open your eyes.

Or maybe I was hallucinating while I played it, since I'm pretty sure my favorite character is Klavier because of his canon personality (that apparently is only in my head!!) Go figure: at the beginning I thought the pretty Gavin was Kristoph and I ended up not liking him nor trying to come up with traits. And I find Klavier attractive later on because of his dorkiness and honesty. I don't fangirl out of shallowness. I... just don't understand these wankers.

I like the ending XDDD

I think it's this thing with fandom. They're tolerable as long as you agree with em. Your preferences are your preferences

Recently I'm liking Klav more than Edgeworth

It's cute as well! The opening dazzled me the most because it had more characters, tho.

That could be said about so many topics in so many fandoms. You disagree with us? UR WRONG. And I thought AJ characters were generally disliked or ignored by most of the fandom, go figure.

I didn't even like Edgeworth or any prosecutor for that matter till the third game D: *is truly weird*

I don't play the game but I am absolutely sure the character is not just a shallow pretty boy because I know what type of character you like.

I think, besides the irrational hate for that game of the saga going on -which gives others the desire to nitpick on the new characters to death-, it's a bit like your recent FMA post. This guy never angsts, and even says out loud and literally that he doesn't like to angst himself. And of course, that means he's shallow amirite?!

So (if you don't mind that I explain you the situation) when his best friend and his older brother end up being the real criminals -in different cases-, and his job is forcing him to defend them, he decides to go against it and be on the side of truth because he's strong in his convictions. Mind you, while the player in particular might not agree with this approach and think he's the lousiest antagonist, especially since no other rival/prosecutor does this kind of shit, the fact he makes such decisions and acts nothing like previous characters SHOULD tell you that he DOES have a personality.

But of course, since you don't get to see Klavier at the end of the case bawling his eyes out and singing emo lyrics for betraying his loved ones or the other way around (actually you don't see him, period), then it means he's a cold bastard with no conflicts, therefore he's shallow. And if you theorize that he could be truly hurt that the people he trusted are murderers, but decided not to suffer over that and take an optimistic approach instead of cutting his wrists, then it's all your imagination to justify the pretty guy and he's still shallow.

... why do people insist that Klavier doesn't have a personality. WHY.

Because it's not a personality they like? Because people might be fangirling over a character you don't like, and that must be because of shallowness? I'm getting so tired of this.

Then again, the anon and people agreeing with them are all saying no AJ character has a personality to begin with so...

I haven't seen the other games so I don't know how developed they are in comparison, but still, less development =/= no personality at all. :/ And Klavier is not a shallow character dammit.

One day I'll have to make a post about "characters I love but don't talk about nearly enough". And Klavier is top of the list.

I think it's once again ANGST IS DEPTH. Edgeworth, Phoenix's main rival/friend, is considered the best developed character, when you have to consider that a) he had three games, soon to be four, to get it; b) he's had at least two cases where he was personally involved (in one of them he was the suspect) which helped loads to give insight on his past; c) you get to talk to him a lot in breaks and right after court; d) I'd say half of his screentime was TEH WANGST or social awkwardness (he gets better, thankfully).

I keep saying that it's the game's fault for not having Apollo and Trucy talking with Klavier after the trials, because I've noticed it's when most prosecutors and minor characters get to shine their personalities the most in the previous trilogy. If instead of just going right to the hospital at the end to talk only with Vera we had Klavier popping in somewhere, and have them chat about how he truly felt about Kristoph (and Daryan) and going against them, these people wouldn't be able to complain about this they'd complain about something else then because he'd have more or less the same development than Franziska and Godot.

...Sorry for teal deering D: And I'd love to read you about AJ and Klavier.

Oh, come on. I'm finally playing them and WHY ARE YOU LOOKING FOR DEPTH IN THESE GAMES? WHY?

This is a series where you CROSS-EXAMINE PARROTS AND USE UNDERPANTS AS EVIDENCE. We've even had clowns (literally, it was a murder in the circus) as witnesses. Srs bsns.

Granted, that some characters can get (and sometimes have) interesting character development. I've cried over endings in previous games. They're silly, but they can do serious things well. Apollo Justice was a rushed game where they spent too much time explaining what Phoenix was up to in seven years, so the new main characters didn't get enough screentime to get good development. But to say they have no personalities and we're all hallucinating it...

Yes, but still. They make it sound like Edgeworth just came out of a Balzac novel.
