Answers from the great beyond

Today I, like an average five year-old kid, have many questions.

Why is my family so full of fail?

Why has April passed by so fast? Have I done anything productive?

How do I fill my free icon slots? Where do I find icons/caps for my weirder fandoms?

Why no books on the Norse pantheon in my bookstores? Or Celtic?

Why hasn't my package from YesAsia arrived yet?

More importantly. Why am I crushing on a Pokémon gym leader I haven't met yet because of fanart? D: OH GOD WHYYYY?

ANON MEME

<------------- This is the only weird fandom icon you'll ever need.

This reminds me of Leonard Bernstein's I Hate Music, if you've ever heard the last song in the cycle.

If it's Morty, then I think half of the fandom is crushing on him already. Thus it's still unexplained, but not unprecedented. :D

I have that one saved, actually! :D

No idea :o *googles the guy*

But it's still embarrassing, even if I'm not the only one :| Japanese fanarts with him and his ghosts are adorable, however.

I want to replay that game so badly.

I wish that the official artwork for the series was anywhere near as good as the fanart. Seriously, the amount of imagination and skill that's poured into Pokemon is probably only surpassed by the Umineko no Naku Koro ni fandom.

I should just finish my incomplete Zeldas before

I've seen some cool/cute art in TCG cards, no idea how official that is, but most of them are still fugly. There are so many fandoms where the fanart is more mind-blowing than the official art, yeah. Or there isn't official art at all!

I crushed on him just by seeing his sprite in CRYSTAL, so... |DDD;

Good luck with everything else D| *sends love*

But you were a teenager then and I'm 27 today D: I blame the fanart.

*waves*

...I was? Whoaaaa. Anyway don't feel embarrased! Think of it as his natural charm?

I guess :o I WAS a teenager when Crystal came out, so.

All the fanart I've seen is HGSS!Morty, who has a different design than in GSC and the anime. Do you mind?

Why no books on the Norse pantheon in my bookstores?

I admit to having quite a few of those in my bookshelf as accusing evidence and reminder of the heyday of my Lord of the Rings obssession...

*covets* I know there are a million of them out there, but in my city I have yet to see many. The only one I stumbled into was going more about Viking society than the gods and shit.

If it's not too much problem, could you please rec me a good book from the ones you have? I guess I'll have to hunt for them on Amazon or Book Depository, but I'd like to invest in any that's not lame and doesn't just stick to Odin-Thor-Loki.

I don't have them in front of me but I remember a couple of books that might come in handy for you: I have the Edda sagas in Spanish, the Alianza releases are pretty good. I always like to have primary sources alongside guides so I'd rec you get a copy of the Edda to start with. Penguin has a pretty straightforward guide. I really like that author, this is also by him and I even prefer it to the Penguin guide, but they are both useful. My favourite, though, is Exploring the Northern Tradition.

Hope any of that helps.
