Whoo boy.

- Just the fact Teddie is my favorite character should say a lot.
- Or that I can't understand for my life that Adachi is so high esteemed by fans. He's not that cool, I just find him overrated.
- Or Dojima/Adachi.
- While not one of my favorites I like Yukiko and think she's the most badass in the party. I always use her.
- I don't pair up Souji|MC with anyone, even if he's this big pimp and I joke saying everyone in the 15-18 age range would hit it or be gay/straight for him. In my gameplays I don't date anyone.
- The only male bromance I can see turning romantic is Kou/Daisuke (and screw Kanji or Yosuke, I still think Daisuke is the biggest closet case and the ex might've been a beard). Souji/Daisuke I prefer as a friendship.
- Incidentally, everybody is bisexual like it's a CLAMP manga.
- I don't understand why people ship Rise with Naoto and/or Kanji, when she clearly ships them together. To make things worse, I think she and Teddie could make a lovely couple or at least awesome BFFs.
- I doubt the Dojimas went into the extremely fluffy mode you see in fanart any time soon. They can get there, but not immediately after their SLs are done. Maybe after December, though.

Yikes, it sounded more ship-oriented than I really am.

- The first anime is neither the second coming or the apocalypse. I enjoyed at the time, now I think it's not as well written as I thought. But geez, I don't hate the screenwriters' guts like the rest of the manga elitists.
- The movie, however? Barf.
- The concept of anime homunculi was actually cleverer than the manga, but I loathed the execution. I would've preferred it if they were all completely unrelated to the rest of the cast. It fucked up Izumi and Scar so much.
- Winry Rockbell is AWESOME. Why is this an unpopular opinion?
- My flist either love or hate Olivier, but I'm actually indifferent to her.
- Hughes was cool, but still kinda overrated.
- Roy/Ed is the least sexy pairing I have ever seen.
- Greedling > Devil Nest Greed.
- The hottest guy in every FMA canon? Manga!Scar's brother. He's got the face, the body, the brains, the exotic air.
- The real thing that annoys me of Brotherhood is not the cuts or filler scenes, but to be finishing so close to the manga. It's kinda stealing its spotlight. And there's gonna be some people who'll pass on reading the finale because they'll see it with purty colors instead. Not cool.

Agreed! I once read a theory that the OMG HATE coming from both sides of this issue doesn't really come from quality, but because of the fact that the manga and the anime ended up going in opposite directions about values/moral of the story/etc, and I think that made sense. (I know the anime lost my interest when the Elrics pretty much decided that since they'd screwed up so much already they might as well stop trying.) But in terms of quality itself, I think the anime was pretty good at wrapping up its own story. I avoided the movie because people had warned me about it, though. |D

I will never understand Winry hate. Never. Being indifferent to characters (or even disliking them) is one thing, and I don't think one needs objective explanations for that or anything, but the amount of Winry-bashing is baffling.

No idea about the Greed part, but I suppose that some fans of the first Greed could be bitter about him returning but not with his own body. Or it could be worse if they disliked Ling to begin with. But really, I don't know how popular or unpopular this is. I digged DN!Greed, but not remotely as much.

More than values, I've always thought the difference lies in how much/little angst and dark and mindfuck the fan prefers in their fandoms. The first anime goes heavier in those. Arakawa's story has its share of bad things and WTF and nightmare fuel but the tone is warmer and more optimistic.

Yeah, I think the overall tone has a lot to do with it. The manga is mostly about people seeing the GOOD things in the world in spite of everything. Look at manga!Scar versus anime!Scar, for example. Both developments make sense, I think, but they go in pretty much opposite directions.

Ah oops, I meant people who won't be reading the manga at all afterwards because they had Brotherhood, but I didn't specify. I can understand preferring to see the animation to B&W lines, but there are more details in the manga that didn't make it to the anime. Since I'm one of those almost OCD fans who jump to the original source if they love the adaptation enough and it's somehow faithful, I just don't get people who don't do this. But I know it's something irrational from my part.

Winry is amazing. I also do not like Ed/Al or Roy/Ed. There are only two people I can see Roy being with. Riza and Hughes. Mostly Riza, since Hughes is married and all lol

I haven't seen Brotherhood yet and I want to just need to find the time. But I agree with you on pretty much all of these.

I don't exactly ship Roy, but I support Roy/Riza on the principle that they have a great partnership already and it makes sense. Hughes' crush on his wife is too cute and strong for me to understand the appeal of Roy/Hughes, and I say this as someone with bromance slash pairings in many fandoms.

I don't really have many unpopular opinions as I don't poke the fandom itself and I'm ridiculously behind, but there is this about shipping in Gintama:
- I honestly don't see the appeal and popularity of Hijikata/Gintoki
- I don't really ship here, and even less crack pairings, but I think Shinpachi/Yamazaki makes sense. I don't even know...
- I can't see Kagura with anyone, she's too young and odd for romance. The rivalry with Okita might be hilarious, but seriously.

- I don't ship Phoenix/Miles. I mean yes, the subtext hit me like a truck and stuff, but I still can't get into it. And it annoys me when this pairing is allll other people talk about or write fic of.
- I do agree that case 3-5 is the best, most epic one. However, I think the writing is chaotic and narmy and the plot is hard to make sense of. I do like it a lot and makes me cry, but 1-5 and 2-4 are way more solid.
- They might be less developed and sometimes ridiculous and not as endearing to half of the fandom, but I still think that most of the Apollo Justice cast is more relatable and adorable than the originals.
- My favorite prosecutor and male character is Klavier Gavin. That alone would give me shit.
- I love Maya, yes, but she's the least useful "loli" sidekick of them all.
- I reeeeeeally dislike Franziska. And to my eternal frustration, I'm the only one I know who does, and the reasons why I can't stand her are the same why others adore her.
- I LOVE Ema's NDS science minigame gimmicks. I'm still disappointed that the spin-off was about prosecution and not a whole game of detective!Ema spraying luminol and fingerprint dust on shit and throwing snackoos at people. They were really close to do it, but there's this producer dude in CAPCOM who pissed on my fandoms twice last year.
- I want to see more Jammin' Ninja references in new games. It sounds so cracktacular and more fun than the Steel Samurai saga.

- I cannot ship Luke FOR MY LIFE. At first it was because he was so dense for that, then it was the realization he's mentally seven. It comes a bit hypocritical since I do dig Ion/Anise and that's much worse, but Ion was a really mature kid from the beginning. But somehow, any ship with Luke feels like a relationship with overprotective older siblings, or with uncles if they're more adults. It's kinda incest-like in dynamics.
- Corollary: Asch/Luke squicks me more because it's EMO IN STEREO than them being physically twins.
- I think Guy is straight. Were I forced to pair him up with a dude it would be Ginji because of the similar interests, but I believe he ironically likes tits.
- Also, I think in canon Jade is asexual. Or at most, a gay man who wants to pretend he's asexual.
- The only reason I can't get into Asch/Natalia? I think Asch doesn't deserve Natalia anymore. She's too awesome and deserves someone better who doesn't turn his back on her because of his complexes.
- He's amusing and fun to mock, but Dist is my least favorite out of the five Keterburgers. I wish there was more fanworks for Nephry (and Peony/Nephry that is not gaiden-based) and Nebilim.
- People seem too eager to tag Peony as gay in the closet to slash him up. I call bullshit: in my headcanon he's bisexual in denial. I think he still likes girls. And I say this with my OTP being Peony/Jade.
- The anime adaptation was pretty decent. I think the main manga is OOC, though, except for that gaiden with Anise and Dist which is too cute for me to consider it non-canon.

- I don't get Tomoyo's appeal. I find most rabid Tomoyo fans to be even shallow about her. There's the ones who like her because she's beautiful and is pretty enough for <insert character they like here>. There's the ones who like her because she's the magicless, kung-fuless BFF sidekick yet perfect in mundane terms and they can self-project themselves easily. There's the ones who love her because OMG HER LOVE IS SO PURE AND SELFLESS and I have the suspicion most of them would give a damn if this wasn't a yuri crush. Me, I think this PURE LOVE is several kinds of creepy because a) THE TAPED FILMS ARE CREEPY and b) it's too idealistic not to feel at least one bit of a selfish tug in the heart for not have your love returned and c) does she even have friends that are not Sakura's as well?

- I really liked Meiling. That and the larger focus on Yamazaki, Chiharu, and Naoko were my favorite things about the anime.

- Yukito is not boring at all. And thinking this doesn't make me believe he's the second coming of Christ. Hell, I used to think he was indeed boring until his identity issues and Yue popped in.
- I think Nakuru, although boobless, must have or seem to have female genitalia as a part of her cover-up in school. I'm not sure she wanted to, but if someone accidentally see her naked it'd be messy to call Eriol to delete the memory. Mentally, though? Yeah, she probably sees herself as genderqueer with more female tastes.
- Dating two guys who aren't your age does not make you a pedophile whore. Especially when one of the guys has been around for almost forty years, not counting memories of hundreds of years. Is it so hard to understand that Kaho fell in love with Touya and Eriol because of their mature personalities, and not the jailbait?
- Sakura/Syaoran is dull.

Similar feelings here; I'd be very into Tomoyo/Meiling if I liked Tomoyo better. As it is, I don't get why more Tomoyo fans don't like the ship, since Meiling connected with Tomoyo much more than Eriol and is more likely to understand her feelings than Sakura.

Re: Nakuru, Eriol probably had a Talk with her about the ramifications of choosing her own gender, which she may or may not have understood thanks to her emotional immaturity. I think Eriol probably went with a perception filter to keep the secret; if she wanted people to think of her as female, then they'd see what they expected from women, same for if she wanted to be seen as male. As she grows up, I can definitely see her taking advantage of her natural genderqueer state to be either gender as she wishes, or even try presenting herself as both genders or genderless.

Apparently, yes. And it's sad that the common opinion of Kaho has actually improved, since most people don't think of her as an active predatory pedophile anymore.

I rather like Tomoyo! Not a crazy fan or anything, but I find her very amusing and she's one of my favourite characters in the series behind Touya, Syaoran, Yue/Yukito and Nakuru. I think the creepiness is actually one of the reason I find her so amusing XD

I really like Meiling as well, but kind of... like, I want to like her more than I actually do.
