taotrooper: A baby pegasus eating grapes (Fantasia / I brake for grape)

Aaaaaaargh

You know what, I change my mind. If you've noticed and have been wondering why crossposted entries have been appearing and disappearing? Well, the LJ crossposted plugin in Wordpress is made of suck. So I'm going to go with just leaving links to the posts in the blog instead. You can comment here if you want!

Five easy to misunderstand gods (1/5): Hades

I'm really sorry for killing your flist, guys :( I had it set for private at first, but for some reason it didn't work.

I'm not really an expert in Greek myths, but I just want to say I really enjoyed this post! There'd be more of these...? :D

Thanks! And yeah, that's the point of having a blog about this silliness XD

HOLY--
If you weren't already on my friend list I would be staking you creepily from this point on, and probably hitting that friend button so hard just to keep getting updates on this. A study on Hades, a study on Hades and his misunderstood nature.

Fff--f--this is SO COOL. The coolest thing I've seen today.

Ah, but if I weren't in your flist already, how would you know about this? Mind boggling paradox to start your morning.

Thanks! I think your Russian fairy tales retelling are lots cooler, though.

Te quedo genial, Kiri :DD

The more you know ~* Ése es justo el punto! Enseñar un poco las idioteces que leo.

Gracias :D

Cute rundown! I always saw Hades as a guy who has a kind of crummy job, but tries to do his best at it. You know, sort of like a sanitation engineer. Not glamorous or particularly fun, but everyone would be unhappy if you did a bad job at it.

Can I request Hephaestus, if he's not already on your list? He's one of my favorites, and he's the god most people forget.

My mental image of Hades, even if it's too anachronistic, it's of this elegant CEO kind of guy sitting on a luxury desk and stamping/signing a lot of paperwork (...parchmentwork?) for people coming in -there's like 0.1% of emigration in Hades, so no one is coming out. It's a boring job that consumes most of his time, but it pays excellently. Definitely not a suave baddie or a woobie goth dude. He just doesn't come outside often because he's too busy, not a social butterfly (insert joke about butterfly = soul in ancient Greece here), and mostly he doesn't want Demeter to chop his balls off.

This top five is already planned out, but I'll say it's mainly for popular-ish guys who get an awful, unrecognizable butchery of themselves in adaptations. Hephaestus is pretty much ignored, forgotten, or doing very minor cameos. So, he's never messed up that much since he rarely shows up at all. I am thinking about doing an article about him in general one day, though! I'll need to research better first.

Me reí un montón con eso. XD Pobre Hades.

I love this! I cry inside every time Hollywood makes a movie with Hades the place or the god. Now I think it would be fun to do a version of him where he's a computer nerd, happily ensconced in his basement.

Here's a 2nd vote for Hephaestus. I hope he's on your list, too.

I mentioned above that my mental version is a rich CEO eternally confronting paperwork XD He can still use a computer and be all hikikomori in a basement, sure! But I will always defend my stand that if someone in this pantheon is a computer/techie nerd/geek, that's his nephew Hermes. Computers follow under waaaay too many of his areas!

Not in the list of top 5 misunderstood because like I said he's too ignored to be butchered this level of badly. I'm thinking about a normal post in general as soon as I research him better, if that's okay.
