Game companies have put me in despair!

→ I think I understand why I'm not doing a 30-days meme yet. I'm too indecisive so I'm bound to get stuck at it. (Okay, and I still haven't found one that convinces me entirely. Maybe I should say screw it and do any of them anyway, just to update more than once a week.)

→ Haha wow, this is the fugliest piece of Okami merchandising I have EVER seen. Really, CAPCOM? Finally a figure of Amaterasu and she looks like a scary feral dog with rabies and face cancer designed by a 14-year-old furry fanartist? SON I AM DISAPPOINT. I'll be over here, puking and hoping I don't have nightmares tonight.

→ Speaking of hype I don't get, I'm not really interested in Catherine, the latest ATLUS mindfuck project. It's not the horror or eroticism what turns me off. I could get through random porn scenes if the plot was good, maybe, if the case was different. I'm just very conflicted by this game being titled with a female name while the main character is a man whose profile sounds quite douchebag to me. And the Catherine person? Oh, she's a literal femme fatale who seduces dudes in dreams to kill them or something like that? Oooh, sexy women are evil and scaryyyy. Oh, the poor guys are victims of sexuality and oh, the manpain to have your ex-girlfriend pregnant. Of course. Whatever. Stay classy, ATLUS. Pizza cheese never looks like semen. I-I guess? IDEK

→ Oh the other side of the spectrum, I tried Persona 2: Eternal Punishment in a PSX emulator. Why this one first and not Innocent Sin, you ask? FEMALE ADULT PROTAGONIST, BOOYA. I like having an adult party in a JRPG. Except this is one of those SMT games where you get your Personae/demons by negotiation. Goddammit, I hate negotiations, I never know what to say and I always get it wrong. It's a shame the gameplay is putting me off, since from what I played (2 hours, sure, but still) the plot was intriguing. And Philemon is hot intrigues me too.

→ Incidentally, it's impossible to import P3P to Europe. All stores are forbidden to ship it to the EU countries. I wonder if it's common bullshit for all PSP games, or ATLUS is planning to localize it one of these years. Or maybe they're just jerks.

→ It breaks my heart how much I care about the Apollo Justice (the game) sometimes. I swear I could make a shrine just with my extensive (and probably unpopular) opinions about Klavier Gavin. It might be because he's my favorite character to RP as, so I give too much thought to his characterization. I care a lot about all the main characters in that subfandom, but he really depresses and cheers me up at the same time.

This post is depressing! And two days for the next Ouran chapter in Japan, so even more depressing. I'm going to watch happier things, like stupid British TV or something.

Sony put a ban on importing any PS stuff to Europe. I know, it sucks >_>
Damn them, they're the only ones whose console I don't need to mod to play imports, and they prevent me from getting their games.

And Apollo Justice (and Klavier) is awesome ;)

Ah, so it's in general and not ATLUS? My God, they suck balls. What's the POINT of making a region-free portable console, then? They're giving people more reasons to hack their PSP for illegal homebrew. I guess I'll stick to Nintendo DS, as I can buy legal games from anywhere with that one. And I'm glad I've never bought a Sony console in my life (I got my PS2 on eBay) all of a sudden.

Weirdly enough, I'm more saddened by this one ending than FMA. Which is odd, as I love and miss Hagaren lots more. Maybe I was prepared for that ending, while this one was like checking last month and having the news slapping my face.

I can't say Ouran ending saddens me more, but it's a really hard blow especially since it's THIS YEAR :( I've known the series was most likely ending for some months now... but yeah, I can't even ;;

I haven't been keeping up with Ouran online, is the next chapter the last one?

Nope, it's the chapter before last. It ends this September in Japan.

Reading your thoughts about Klavier always makes me really, really glad I'm sticking to my flist for the AJ fandom. It breaks my brain that your opinions are the unpopular ones.

I almost always have unpopular opinions in every fandom, I think.

[identity profile] beastoftheseal.livejournal.com 2010-08-22 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess so, but... this particular situation breaks my brain because it's not "I'm interested in [something few people like] instead of [popular stuff in that fandom]" and more like "I can see that this guy has an actual personality that you're all ignoring".

I mean. THE PERSONALITY IS THERE. I didn't imagine it. :|

Funny you say that with a Kero account, because "I can see that this guy has an actual personality that you're all ignoring", that's exactly how I felt with some CCS characters. Soooo, nothing new here!

[identity profile] laurus-nobilis.livejournal.com 2010-08-22 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
... sob, yes, tell me about it. But while I can sort of understand it with characters like Clow, it breaks my brain that fandom does it with someone who is such a major character. I mean, there's a difference between "AJ has less developed characters than the previous games" and "LOL NO PERSONALITY AT ALL".

Dunno, main characters CAN be bland. But Jesus in a rollercoaster, it's not like Klavier (or Yukito or the Eriol-tachi) is a Twilight character. Besides, I still think that he's more subtle and smartly done than many popular characters in PW.

[identity profile] laurus-nobilis.livejournal.com 2010-08-22 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
main characters CAN be bland
Oh, yes, definitely. I meant that it should be much easier to see Klavier's personality than, say, Clow's or Spinel's.

... I do think people have no excuse with Yukito or Eriol or even Nakuru. :|

I haven't seen enough of the other games to compare, really. But maybe it's because it's subtler that people miss it? I don't know, I'd like to think people don't immediately assume non-emo = shallow but I don't have a lot of faith in humanity.

People loved Edgeworth before he outgrew his emo, so... what's this faith you talk about? (Disclaimer: I do like Edgeworth, but it took me two games to stand him)

I really wish that manifesto comm for characters was still active. I'd like to analize him, but at the same time I don't want to subject my flist to endless rambling only two or three would care about. Maybe I *should* make a shrine.

[identity profile] laurus-nobilis.livejournal.com 2010-08-22 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, I miss that comm so much. If only I wasn't so lazy busy I'd make one myself.

I don't know, I like the idea of LJ posts because you get dialogue that way. And people who aren't interested can just remember the scrollbar is their friend~

Best. Comparison. Ever. At least, it made me sporfle IRL.
