Nothing like it, baby

Ghost Trick post? Ghost Trick post.

No, really, get the hell out if you haven't played it yet. It's completely different to go through it if you know anything about Sissel. Just warning ya.

Okay. As weird and impossible and timey-wimey and twisty (but a good kind of twisty!) as the plot is, I enjoyed it a lot. Especially because the characters are such dears. Of course, eccentric but lovable characters are a given in a Shu Takumi game, but I was so pleasantly surprised with them. Even the most minor ones and the most cruel ones are easy to like. Yet as much as I love the main cast, I'd say Missile was the best fucking shit in this game. If someone hates Missile, even if they're justified because they don't like dogs, they have NO SOUL WHATSOEVER. Seriously, it's the most Badass Adorable I've seen since Amaterasu. But everyone is great: Sissel being a truly amazing protagonist, Lynne and her perky-sidekick-ness, Cabanela and his classy-cheesy motherfucker style, Jowd and his Manpain, Yomiel and his More Epic Manpain* (it's fantastic how likable he ends up to be by the end, once he stops being a bastard of a troll.) And the side characters are, like in Ace Attorney, just hilarious and unforgettable. Especially Bailey OMG.

Welp, about THE TWIST? I actually called it, believe it or not! It was random because I knew the black cat has to be important because non-spoilery fanart I had seen always features it. So I continued to make cracky theories about it. THE CAT IS RAY. OR, THE CAT IS THE MANIPULATOR. OR, CAT IS RAY IS THE MANIPULATOR. OR, THE CAT IS THE OTHER SISSEL. OR, THE CAT IS SISSEL HIMSELF... SOMEHOW. Then I spent like 5 chapters with the big hunch that Sissel was the cat, and everything like his illiteracy clicking in. So well, I would've been disappointed if the crazy theory was wrong :'D But seriously, I love that twist. Your heroes? A kitty cat and a puppy. Glorious! Now Ray's identity I didn't call, but I don't think anyone would! It was incredibly depressing and I had flashbacks (ILU GT fandom in Tumblr) to that Futurama episode. Sob foreeeeeever.

So ridiculous aside (and this plot has PLENTY), the ending was bittersweet. On one hand EVERYBODY LIVES! On the other, you're breaking up the cute pets with their owners and that's mean. On one hand, it's all fluffy and happy! On the other, even if history was rewritten the two most angsty characters can remember those horrible years (and the pets remember their previous owners, see previous point.) It's also sad to think that Sissel now has become a literal Schrodinger's, and he will outlive everyone ever. Can another supernatural fandom adopt him after this happens? There's a market for good-hearted, immortal, magical kittens, surely.

Besides that, the gameplay is fun, the animations are awesome, and the music is great.

* Now every time I see someone Manpaining in other fandoms, I will ask to myself: "but IS his pain like sinking inside a submarine?" as a scale of sorts. Incidentally Batman's pass the test because he's Batman.
