OKAY, SO, EPILEPTIC TREE FOR POKÉMON B/W! I think I figured out why the letter N.
There might be a chess theme in Team Plasma. Not 100% accurate, but a good part of it. I assumed that the Harmonias just played too much Dungeons & Dragonsor Zelda: A Link to the Past, LOL sages, but what if it's half of it? I think it could be valid, because what's the color of chess pieces? Yup, black and white! In algebraic chess notation, the letter N is the knight. This could be a hint of how the hierarchy of Team Plasma truly is in the shadows: the king is not a king but a knight, and the guy dressing like a rook isn't a rook at all, but both the king and the chessmaster.
And there's a movement involving king and rook called castling. They have a castle. Thar.

J/K. They probably just ran a random generator from 1 to 26, because just one Latin letter sounds ~exotic~ and ~mysterious~. But then it makes me wonder, in-game, if he always was just called N or it's a codename for the king of Plasma. Maybe Ghetsis sucks at choosing baby names. Or his real name is so long, they shortened it to one letter out of laziness.
They both smile like creepers and have fluffy hair, it's meant to be!
Maybe he's like Mandark, and his real name is Susan or something and so he's denied it forever. ... I don't think the issue of his name is ever addressed properly, really, which is a shame. Maybe they'll add more info in a future third version?
