Bitching a little
Oh crap, Norma Editorial is gonna distribute CLAMP no Kiseki in Spain. I'm so scared of the price... I just know I'm buying them, I'm so weak...

Larg is the moon.
Soel is the sun.
Now this gives me an idea of symbolism, on how it fits their destinations. Of course, Clow's staff is a sun-shaped. Soel went on a journey with Clow's descendants from another world. And Yuuko's powers are from the moon, as we know very well. Larg stayed in Yuuko's shop. Moreover, Soel's personality is more of his father: likes food and surprising people, is a trickster and a flirter. Larg's is more like his mother: loves to drink booze and teasing dense boys, is a lazy bum and it'd rather watch to act. So in some twisted way, they're Clow and Yuuko's extensions. And mutual children. Who needs to procreate babies when you can make furballs with 108 uses?
And now, my turn to do a negative rant. Fear me.
Basically, this is how most fangirls' brain works. Take her favorite series. Does the two main characters are of opposite sexes? Yes/No. If Yes and the fangirl is not yaoi lover, then the conclusion is simple: then they are both meant to be. If Not and the fangirl is yaoi lover, then the conclusion is simple: then they are both meant to be. And that's how she comes up with her OTP. Period.

Sadly, it happens in the 75% of the cases. But in my humble opinion, there are series where you simply cannot pair main characters up because it's wrong and they will never ever love (or have sex with) each other and it won't make any sense.
Why am I saying that? Well, I'm sick of some XXXHOLiC fans who go all "omg watanuki and yuko r so gonna b a couple, dont u all agree? i mean, tehy always are together in teh covers its so obious and so kawaii!!11" or "I bet Yuuko does not only make Watanuki pay his price by cooking and cleaning, she evidently makes him do kinkier things to her *big grin*"
Excuse me while I keep saying What The Fuck infinite times. What do they think they're reading, Chobits or Tsubasa? XXXHOLiC is not about the pairings, unlike [insert random CLAMP series here], just no. And Yuuko/Watanuki, if it were to happen, would scare the crap out of me. Because even if Yuuko is luscious and flirts a lot with people, it's not her style torape seduce teenagers clients. At least that's what I think so. If she wanted something with Kimihiro (or Shizuka or Himawari...), she'd already get away with it!
Somebody should tell preteens that not always the main characters end up together romantically. This is not a frigging shoujo, for heaven's sake! In a CLAMP community, a girl was asking everybody who would you want to be in CLAMPverse, and I said I'd want to be Yuuko. And she replies me with, among other things, something along the lines of "i hope u find ur watanuki soon ^_^." Erm, what? Go back to your Chobits mangas and get out of my fandom.
And I don't say this because I ship Clow/Yuuko. I'm so close to sign up to the Ship Manifesto community in order to make a CY essay, just to see if I get any wanker comment...

I wonder how Yue took Mokona Modoki's creation. More people to share Clow's affection? I'm sure he kicked them a couple of times, when Clow and Yuuko weren't looking.

About the actual post, now: Suddenly it makes a lot of sense why Clow has a sun-shaped staff, even if his power is of the darkness. I'd never thought about how they complement each other! The more I think of it, the more convinced I get that you're right and CLAMP's been planning HOLiC for a while...

Worse evidence! From the Soeru no Raagu translation they're making me to Spanish:

I, for the other hand, have a problem with her personality. Too genki, and she's hiding something. She could end up having an evil double personality, knowing CLAMP. But I digress.
I just can't see Watanuki with anyone, I suppose.
