I'm glad I made the TS challenge ^^ And I even got some feedback, even though there must be a few grammar errors around (I'm sure I saw something lacking a verb this morning, I don't remember where so I can't fix it). Of course, the first thing it came to my mind when I read the challenge was Naoko. And there's such a lack of Naoko fics! So she had to be the main character. In the end, there were 3 brunettes and 1 brown (if we count the 2 lines Li said), but Naoko was the star, a little shadowed by Eriol (but of course, that's normal every time when I make a fic! It's me!).
I'm satisfied because they thought everyone was in-character. I was a little afraid they'd sound forced. Especially Yamazaki's tale. I'd have made up a better one, if I had more time and muse. IC!Naoko is easy to do, and the other ones are so much more easier to stay on IC (God knows why preteens can't be successful).
The costume wasn't gonna be No-Face at first. I just came up with a dementor/nazgul/lame!scary!movie!killer black robe thing, plus a mask. But then I was glancing at my petit DVD collection, and it came along. Naoko would love this movie! And Sakura would never be able of watching it, I'm sure. Tomoyo must have a big popular culture knowledge, I'm sure she must, so she could be able to identify what was the costume about and the special date it was that day.
Now, Naoko and Eriol conversations. Are they that rare in canon? Well, it's not like they had hours of dialogues, clearly, but there are little things. Naoko's goal in the first saga was just being the creepy geek. But in the second saga, she seems to be, if not interested enough in Hiiragizawa-kun, at least intrigued and curious. Sakura is the closest thing Eriol has as a friend in Tomoeda, since Yamazaki is more of a colleague in trickstery. He seldom talks with Tomoyo and Syaoran, but the subjects are... well, Sakura-centric. You know, the friends of his friend/quasi-daughter/whatever. Chiharu and Rika don't care about him at all.
But apart from Sakura, nobody wants to know things about Eriol. Nobody? Think again! There's somebody who always asks him simple yet interesting things about himself. Who? Yeah, her. But she even notice stuff about him nobody else does. Thanks to her, we do discover little things about Eriol. She's CLAMP's tool to let us know stuff about the English boy in an indirect way.
I don't know why Naoko is interested, though. She never asked anything to Syaoran or Meiling, and they are foreign students, you know. I think it must be that she reads too many British literature books, so a transfered student from there must be a blast. I'd be delighted to have a friend from the UK as well. My Tech English teacher at college is Irish, and that makes her cool!
I can give you direct facts and quotes from the canon, if anyone wants them, in a different post. But I'll tell you, and I can swear it in a justice tribunal touching a Bible: if they had enough time alone, Eriol and Naoko could've had a long, marvelous, and interesting tête-a-tête. It could be about anything: from something trivial as piano and books to something more strange like mythical creatures or... magic. Think about it! There's a reason I want to write E+Nao, and this is it.I bet Kaho is not a good enough chatter

no subject
Actually, if I had made them go trick or treating, like I wanted to at the beginning, Naoko would've shown up as a Ravenclaw student XD And she would've started teasing Eriol off, telling him he could have an easier costume just drawing a lightening in his forehead with a red marker.
But that would be so
funnyOOC, wouldn't it? I like to piss Eriol off on my fics with the evident HP comparison.
