No, I'm not turning this into a U2 lyrics post. OK. First of all, Happy Roasted Bird for Dinner to the Americans. I forgot to say.

So, let's be random. I've been saying there's something weird with Watanuki's looks since forever. I've been linking this guy with Clow and people related or linked to him for a while in crazy theories. I've said a couple of times the first time I ever saw him, in the cat ears illustration, I thought Eriol. Of course, you'd say, CLAMP keeps making similar-looking characters like any other mangakas, there are a lot of clones in this universe, and Watanuki IS drawn by the same lady who drew Clow and Eriol, so it's a normal thing.

Dude, yeah, it was a normal thing! Until volume 3, that is. In the end of the basilisk angel game minisaga, Yuuko says a particular phrase, that shows: a) Clow knew about Kimi and b) Yuuko mustn't be so angry at Clow if she can nostalgically smile while saying that (OMGOTP!)

Suddenly, everybody in my flist noticed smiling!Kimihiro looks familiar, and that killed their brains XD First, I thought it was my fault. All the subliminal stupidity I keep saying stuck in their heads and finally affected them? But no, apart from the fact I'm a nobody and shouldn't think so high of myself, I've seen people having similar opinions who haven't read this journal.

The other day, a random person joins my Clow fanlisting, and then joins my Watanuki fanlisting, and in the comments field he/she says he/she is convinced Watanuki is Clow's son because they look the same, and because his birthday collides with Sakura's, who is her daughter in another world XDDD And people, this was like more of a week ago. I doubt this member knows me at all, so I couldn't influence him/her.

And my Watanuki essay, which I published in Yuuko's Shop and was originally posted here, made corinn have some crazy theories of her own, which were exposed in the site's guestbook. About what she's telling, well, I believe it could be, just not in that world, since Watanuki had parents and it wouldn't fit. Maybe an alternate!Kimihiro from another world is actually the lovechild of yet-another-alternative!Clow and that-world's-alternative!Yuuko? Well, that'd certainly explain a lot. It's an interesting outlook, and feeds the ship at the same time.

And even if Yuuko is not the mother, the premise could work. I can see a different Kimi being Clow's son. Or grandson. Or nephew. Or cute little relative.

Also, in the guestbook, someone called Heimdall agreed Watanuki does have things in common with The Boy Who Lived XDDDD

Oh, and people.
You know, in the next volumes, the slight Clowish smile?
It. Gets. Worse.
And not only with animals and creatures: also with women and children.

Ooh, I almost forgot!
Have you noticed, in illustrations, Kimi almost always wears Chinese outfits and dandy gentleman suits?
Uh-hum. Yeah. Let's not start on magnolias again. Which means "secret smile". Now, whose smile, in particular?

I had a weird dream last night. I was on a shore or dock, or at least in the border of water, and some dolphins came and played with me. It was so sweet ^^ And then, when I walked in/on (can't remember well) the water, I saw a red moon in a reddish sky. I looked for the camera, and I had three. One that took pictures in red hue, one in blue hue and one in green hue. I had taken pictures to the dolphins with the blue one, and I use the red one to shoot at the horizon with the moon. I keep walking, turned in a corner, and it's all in darkness. I get to an elevator with my family, and I wanted to take pictures of my brothers with the red camera, since I wanted to develop that batch of pictures and they were wearing red T-shirts. After that, I can't remember.

My dreams are all strange and symbolic. This one was really vivid, though.

I think it makes a lot of sense that Watanuki is related to Clow in one way or another. They definitly look alike.

Maybe Watanuki will be sent in the past and become Clow ! okay, maybe not... ^_^

That's OK, really.

Now, seriously. I don't think they're the same guy, as the powers just don't match.

But still, and apart from that, I feel perhaps a young, teenager Clow could be a little bit like Watanuki, so maybe Clow was sympathetic to the boy (in, well, whatever way he knew about him and discuss with Yuuko), because he sees himself in him. A strange boy, good in manual things, and born with an unusual gift that felt more like a curse to him.

I bet there was a moment of his life when he wished those visions of the future would stop. I believe Clow was not so serene all of his lifespam, so he could be cranky and moody for, I don't know, a century or something, until he got used to it and achieved a zen state and a permanent smile.

Age can do wonders.

But why Watanuki ? He has to have something special so that Clow knew him and talked about him. More than his gift I mean. Oh I don't know, the problem is there's already so many people related to Clow in so many different ways, so it's difficult finding a new thing.

I can't even *deal* with thinking about the Clow, Watanuki issue. I'm certain that "MS,S" is going to to radically contradicted by canon any minute now, as it is (especially Part 3 -- and yes, I say this to torment you). {sigh} I don't think that I can deal with Watanuki being a direct relative, or... some variation of reincarnation.

For instance, the whole "Watanuki lives with some sort of Dursleys kind of relatives" died the moment we knew he lived alone.

But that's why I'm talking about relative worlds. It's just playing with the "what ifs".

I don't know, maybe being his (alternate dimension) son would be too much. But he can still be a distant nephew or something. (And in spite of my meiosis jokes, please don't let it be a different reincarnation- that'd be going down the "illegal Animagus #56453" path...)

I know! Watanuki is a long-lost relative of... Nadeshiko! Yes, he is a distant Amamiya cousin, hence the similarity of his power/curse to Touya's and Nadeshiko's ghost-seeingness. (Wait -- Nade seeing ghosts might not be canon. Hm.) And Clow cared because of the future Fujitaka-ness.

I've only seen the first three American manga, so I dunno a lot. Though, I got my hands on some (technically not-quite-legal)scanlations that I should read...

Anyway. What I want to see is a flashback or something to Kimihiro around the age of 10. I have a feeling he'd look like Eriol with Yuuko!eyes. He's the only one I've seen so far with those cat-like eyes of Yuuko's...

And regarding how you think it wouldn't be possible in Watanuki's dimension.... and certain things...

I have heard that CLAMP has stated that CCS, X/1999, Tokyo Babylon, CLAMP Campus Detectives, Duklyon, and Man of Many Faces all take place in the same universe/continuity. I heard this before xxxHolic was released, and in several places.

It is my belief that xxxHolic takes place in said same dimension, due to certain references Yuuko makes regarding Sakura and Subaru. If so~~~ Watanuki could theoretically be a child of Yuuko and an alternate!Clow. Or even ccs!Clow. How? In my convoluted mind, something says Yuuko is a witch of timespace. That's what dimensions are to me. After all, isn't there something funky about the times in the worlds Syaoran-tachi travel to? Anywho... Since we do not know the exact circumstances of how Watanuki's parents "died protecting him," we can't concretely say they're dead. OR, the thing the fortuneteller said could refer to who he perceived to be his parents. It could be that he was adopted-- that he left his 'real' parents for his protection. Or that Clow and Yuuko 'died' to protect him from something very messy involving the supernatural.

I dunno. My mind is convoluted and always looking for connections in symbolism and foreshadowing.

ANOTHER IDEA! I just got it.
Okay, if xxxHolic takes place in a continuity different from CCS and the rest... Hypothetically, he could be another alternate!Fujitaka child. He liked to cook, and was a Clow-clone. XD Still doesn't explain the eyes. I swear, no matter who the father is, he must be Yuuko's kid. In some way, shape, or form.

Because I am a conspiracy theorist like that.

And besides-- what else would better explain how Yuuko is teaching him instead of charging full price and granting his wish?

I haven't "read" the rest of the manga. I just happen to tumble into Chinese scanlation boards and look at the pretty pictures with unreadable (for me) text. Spoiler whore, myself.

But anyway...

Not CCS. The rest of them are, but certainly CCS is not in that universe. You can trust me in this one since I've read the first four entirely. And it's a well-known fact Duklyon and MoMF are indeed in the Campus dimension.
I doubt XXXHOLiC is in the same dimension as X. Yuuko knows lots of people in lots of dimensions, so I can understand her knowing Subaru.
XXXHOLiC is in the same dimension as Lawful Drug and Suki Dakara Suki, that's for sure. And it *seems* CCS is the same dimension as well.

OK. The first idea, as in Watanuki adopted. Well, that would explain the "you don't live with your real parents" line, ne? I think that one could work XD

The second theory. I've always fancied the idea of an alternative!Fuji being the dad XDDD It's just that phrase, "you dad taught you to cook"... in CLAMPverse, there's always one dad who is an excellent chef AND could have a bespectacle kid.

And for the Yuuko's son part, well, I'd totally pay for seeing the Yuuko/Watanuki shippers' faces if something like that happens XD
But it's not wise stablishing a blood tie for eye shape. If similar eyes are proof of family, gee, then almost every bishounen in the early works would be related to each other! This is the same mangaka, and similar features tend to appear between characters. But Yuuko being related (close or far) to Watanuki is a sweet theory. Not necessarily the mom, but maybe an aunt, or an ancestor (um, well, it could happen, how old is that lady??).
