A revelation

Yay, new default icon! ^_^

I was chatting via MSN with

threeleaf right now, and we started talking about Kakei from Gohou Drug. Just in case you know squat about him,
Kakei is a weird, mysterious guy who can see the future, and runs a drugstore with his boyfriend Saiga. Two 17 year-old boys work at the drugstore. You know, the usual: arrange items, clean up, sell... nothing out of the ordinary. Oh, wait, there is. The boys have psychic powers. Sometimes he gives them bonus jobs, all of them involving supernatural things, and they accept for the extra money.

Sounds familiar? I bet you think so. Pictures of Kakei here and here. He's also drawn, like everyone in that manga, by ~~Mick~~ Tsubaki Nekoi.

And another thing: we have serious motives to think he knows Yuuko. He asks, in volume 2, to steal a porcelain pot with daffodiles painted on it. And the same pot appears in XXXHOLiC, on Yuuko's "treasure cove", and Watanuki had to get into the pot for a reason I don't know as I don't speak Chinese.

That would be scary, if Kakei were related to Kaho x_x I can see that, though. ~~I bet Saiga is younger than him~~

That pot must be the same one, I actually compared the both of them and I can swear at least the drawing is the same. It would be freaky if there were more than one pot in that dimension (GDverse is HOLiCverse), so I can theorize it's the same one.

And considering Kakei's job is in the same line as Yuuko's (as in my-store-does-paranormal-things-for-you), they must know each other as colleagues. Maybe it was Kakei who gave Yuuko the pot personally.

Maybe there's a club for Clamp's mysterious, genki characters who knows more than the hero ever does; and they all know each others.

Maybe if we never get the follow up of GD (*sobs*) at least we'll have some crossover goodness.

Wait... what if...

What if GD and X are on hiatus because CLAMP wants to crossover them with XXXHOLiC and Tsubasa at the same time and connect all their four (soon five) mangas?

I wish it could be. Well, if done tastefully, because yeah i have a hard time seein TRC crossovering with some of them. It's such a shounen.

But the others...

however my impression was that XXXholic and GD were set after 1999. Okay, GD has this 90's fashion thing, but...

No, you misunderstand me. It would be

TRC <-> HOLiC (duh)
GD <-> HOLiC
X <-> TRC

HOLiC <-> X would make no sense. Except for the AU X characters in TRC that know Yuuko, but that's a different thing.

But I can see Syaoran-tachi arriving in apocalypse Tokyo. But that would make X less serious, and it would lose a lot.

errr why ?

I could see Holic crossovering with X. Afterall, Yuuko already refered Subaru. And there's this general feeling of similarities between TB, GD, Holic (the one time cases about modern life, darkness of the themes)

TRC with X would just hurt my brain. I could nowhere see Syaoran getting in it.

It's not for the story: it's more for the feeling I get that XXHOLiC will be dimensionally static. I don't think Yuuko and Watanuki will visit any dimension so far. GD is in the same world, so that's a piece of cake.

And X characters don't go through dimensions. I think they can be visited (I can picture Yuuko in that Tokyo on vacations, and meeting the Sumeragis), but they don't look like they can get out of there.

That's why the idea scares the crap out of me. And it is possible >_

Oh... I see your point. Well, I don't really believe X and XXXholic are in a different universe for one. But yeah, mood wise, it would be strange to have more than a Cameo.
GD and XXXholic would still be awesome to see more crossovers of. They're both drawn by Nekoi anyway ^^ (I think i love her art even more than Mopona's <3)

I swear, there are tons of moments when I see Rikuou reflected on Doumeki XD and some exaggerated gestures in Watanuki that I've seen first in Kazahaya, in a lighter way. Nekoi's art in both works is quite similar. And Kakei's glasses kinda look like Watanuki's. Yay for oval frames.

There's a reason I don't see XXXHOLiC and X in the same universe. No references and foreshadow to the end of the world, or something similar. Except for the Subaru mention, no elements from that Tokyo. Even in Tokyo Babylon, Sei and Hokuto got to talk about the prophecies about 1999 and Nostradamus.

I admit it could happen, but there are no clues so far.

And can you picture Watanuki screaming "what, the end of the world?!?!"?

Which is why i consider XXXholic as happening after X.

Well, of course i don't believe X will end with the end of the world.

I love Rikuou so much more than Doumeki *sighs* I think, apart from Yuuko and the pure, Corto Maltese-esque thing in XXX-holic, I would really prefer GD to Holic.

But their Japan is too intact to be after pseudo-destruction. Even if the Ten no Ryuu win the war, the city was in chaos.

Well, true, we don't know in which part of Japan HOLiC happens, but they certainly don't have an Osaka accent. So...

Actually, I've been hoping for that to happen. That or finding the TRC group on Clover! world...

that sucks. Kujaku is my THE one time favourite genki, mysterious character by Clamp. Counting Seishirou.

I heard RG Veda's gonna be translated to english when they're finished with Tokyo Babylon. Otherwise, you can't read french ?

No, there is RG Veda in Spanish, but it's an old, hard to find edition. It's sold out everywhere, and the edition is expensive and sucky T_T I saw one volume in a comic fair at 10€, and I couldn't buy it because I had already bought all Clover and I was broke.

And there are lots of characters I love that wear no glasses, don't be silly XD

Well, that's sad. Not even on bargain sales or Amazon ? I found amazing things as used books, even if it took me some time. Well, I only completed my own RG veda collection recently myself ^^ and i don't have all the clovers yet.
10€ is very expensive for one manga :(

Amazon is a big no-no without a credit card ;_; I've heard rumours there will be a re-edit, so I'll wait to see if it's true. I've heard crap about the RG Veda edition. For that time, the company was a newbie, and the paper quality was awful: pages would fall out.

I've been stalking bargain shops. I got some X volumes there I didn't have, you know ^_^ They also had some old TB volumes, but I already had the whole collection at the moment.

Let's see if I have enough luck on the next fair.
