Taking a break from HOLiC rants

I was just thinking about this while I was on the bus today.

I just noticed, 10 minutes ago, that in anime and manga normal rules of physics won't apply. We all knew that. We keep thinking about the obvious things (defying gravity, excess of energy, et cetera), but not so much about the small details.

Like glasses, for instance.

I don't know how many of you, friends and stalkers, wear or have wore glasses. I do, since I was 10. And one of the most annoying things about glasses, and one of the top five reasons why people keep changing to contact lens, is this one:

They slip.

Really, try to move a lot. Try to down your head. They will end up balancing at the tip of your nose. And you'll have to either take them off or pushing them back to the top.

But in anime and manga, few are the bespectacle characters whose glasses slip. And sometimes it's ridiculous. We've see every single guy with glasses in Card Captor Sakura doing sports with their glasses on. Why don't they slip or fall, that's a mystery. My theory is it must be Clow's magic working XDDD

And it doesn't limit to anime and manga. Books and movies, too! A fandom comes to mind... Imagine this scene:

Harry: Time out, time out!
Mrs. Hooch: What's the problem, Potter?
Harry: My glasses fell down. I can't see a bloody thing without them.
Mrs. Hooch: *rolls eyes*
Oliver: Everyone, look for the glasses on the ground! We need our seeker to see the snitch!
Draco: This is not fair!! It's the third time on this game that Potter's stupid glasses fell down!!! We're not going to finish this before the third millenium...
Snape: [in the benches] The same thing happened with his disgusting father, on all quidditch games... *shudders in rage*

That's never gonna happen, right? Right.

Let's face it, creators, writers and mangakas don't know a damn thing about glasses.

Except maybe Kubo Tite XD

Because all this conclusion came when I was thinking about Uryuu Ishida from Bleach, and how he keeps pushing his glasses up in this dorky, cute little way. That's what it makes him so real ^//^

Yes, I'm a rabid fangirl. So what, are you going to sue me?

Do you guys know of any bespectacle fictional character whose glasses slip? I'm curious.

... all I can think of is Gendo Ikari from Evangelion. ... He scares me, but he's always pushing his glasses up.

Oh, crap, I hate Gendou. But that's true.
Even though he doesn't move a lot, actually. All he does is stand in a spot giving orders, or sit down and ponder his plans of doom.

I can't picture the dumbass running and his glasses falling down.

Yeah, he's never really moving, but he's always pushing them up. Maybe he has a slippery nose or something. I just remember because I thought it was funny he was alway pushing them back up with his middle finger.

Let's see... Tatsumi keeps pushing his glasses up.

#2 Why I hate using glasses: If you go to the beach, you either end up with a funny panda tan or you take them off and don't see a thing.

And yet, again, this never happens to fictional characters.

A similar thing can be said about some character's skirts. They defy gravity.

Oh, yeah, he does! <3 Although he kind of does that when he's angry or frustrated, like a tic.

I completely forgot about Tatsumi. Bad girl!

I think Tatsumi is really, really sexy when he does that glass thing *dreamy look* *cough* anyway, yeah feel for you; I've had glasses since I was 3 (three !) so i was very happy when i started wearing contacts (15) glasses can be cool, but wearing them everyday, all the time can be so annoying and unpractical... *sighs*

It seems, in anime, that (usually) only evil guys push their glasses up. Usually just after the lenses go all reflective.

And they usually use their middle finger.
