XXXHOLiC Volume 4 Part 2: Piffle Princess and Duklyon are everywhere
Splash page: Doumeki poses in his archery outfit, sitting in Japanese way, and holding his bow. Creepily enough, his shadow has a different pose, like he's about to shoot an arrow. And there's incense smoke.

Watanuki is happy: Himawari gave him a belated Valentine gift. So he jumps for joy, but before he can build a sand castle of dreams, Himawari gives Doumeki a Valentine gift as well XD And the box is the same, and the bomboms are the same, and she bought them at a cafe. Watanuki doesn't feel special anymore. But he's still sorta glad she thought of him.

On the afternoon, Yuuko, Mokona and Kimi go to the supermarket. The Piffle Princess supermarket! Yes, there's one. That people own the town, we keep seeing Piffle Princess brand anywhere. But anyway. Yuuko teases Watanuki about him and Doumeki getting matching bomboms, and recalls he had recieved 3 Valentines. One from the house spirit, one from Himawari... and the third? Yuuko tells him her gift was the remaining cake (as in the one eaten by Doumeki). She's evil, I know XD

Meanwhile, Mokona checks the sausages or bologni or something like that, and Yuuko glances at a pair of identical twins walking near her on the aisle. They both have long, wavy hair. They pick a fish, and one of them decides to get meat, just in case she messes up the fish. The other one tells her sister she should trust more on her cooking abilities. Watanuki asks Yuuko why is she staring, and she says the twins will be having meat tonight.

The next day, Watanuki finds one of the twins looking for her contact lens in the middle of the street, and he helps her looking. Out of the blue, the girl says he shouldn't bother, as «they're not going to find it». Watanuki feels some waves around the girl.

In the end, it went dark too fast and they couldn't find it. Yuuko says later that, they weren't conditioned from the beginning for that. Living beings are conditioned by several things. Forces of nature, pass of time, the body, our ego in our mind. Those are the chains that tie all living being. But there are some chains only people can use. And those chains tie those twins.

The next day, while Kimihiro was sweeping the school yard, he was thinking about the chains. Doumeki scolds him for not working, as he's the class rep and he's supervising the cleaning chores. Watanuki can't understand how Doumeki was voted as class rep, and admits he voted for Himawari. No surprises there, no. Shizuka heard him saying "chains", and interrogates him. (he's so curious and gossiper XD)

They go to Dukylon to grab a burger and talk after school. Yes, there is a Dukylon fast food chain in HOLiCverse! Doumeki asks if the twins were human beings, and Kimihiro admits he has no clue, and Yuuko didn't say. Doumeki tells him to be careful, and the pseudo gay chat takes place. No comments, I fell off my chair.

A waitress goes get the tray, and she's one of the twins, but the other one. She's the younger, the pessimistic one is the elder. She thanks Watanuki, and apologizes for her sister's behaviour. And then the elder says, "hey..."

She invited them to go out with her and the sis. Watanuki couldn't say no. He asks Yuuko if they're human, and she says yes. And then she asks him if they're college student. Yes, they are, they're on their second year. So he's gonna date an older woman, Yuuko says, and Watanuki gets offended as he only likes Himawari (as he keeps saying over and over...)

Yuuko then decides, after Kimi goes get some tea, she should make a long-distance call to Soel, erm, I mean the white Mokona. So black communicates them, and the dialogue is too good to be resumed:

WM: Hiiiiii! Good evening, Yuuko!
Y: Good evening.
BM: Good evening!
Y: Is it night in there?
WM: (Ev'ning!) Yes! Ah, Yuuko! Thanks for the chocolate cakes. They were delicious!
Y: I'm glad.
WM: We ate one each, and we loved them. Kurogane didn't want to eat theirs, he was sure you were going to charge him. (He didn't trust!) But Fye ate it at a gulp.
Y: AHAHAHAHA! Eating it at a gulp doesn't change anything. I expect something in exchange for White Day! (With interests!) Hey, where are you right now?
WM: In Outo country, Sakura's bedroom. Each of them has a bedroom, but Sakura's is the only one with a mirror. [Mokona is in front of the mirror while talking]
Y: And Sakura is not there?
WM: She's downstairs working with Syaoran. They put a cafe. Kurogane and Fye...
Y: A cafe?
WM: Yes, and they wear Mokona aprons.
BM: That's cute! ♥
Y: I think it's terrific. What's its name?
WM: The cafe doesn't have a name yet, but it has a sign! Fye drew it! &hearts [the black cat sign can be seen]
Y: [delighted] They should name it "Cat's Eye"!
WM & BM: That's from a manga you read!
Y: (Teehee!) Of course, a sign with a black cat, it's got to have that name! (or put it "City Hunter", I love Kaori Makimura!)
[Note: God, Yuuko is such a geek, ranting about mangas XD]
*clonk* *clonk*
Y: What's that noise?
WM: I don't know. It comes from the shop. I'm going to take a look.
Y: Be careful.
WM: Don't worry. See you later, Yuuko! (Bye!)
BM: (Buh-bye!)
End of transmission.
Y: White Mokona's pendant is a magic tool. Black Mokona's is a seal. It's been a while since Clow and I designed them. They seem to be working perfectly, though. As him [flashback of Watanuki arriving the shop] along with them [flashback of S+S arriving to the dimension] are gonna have it hard. Let's hope everything will be alright [she smiles fondly]

*brain broke, like every time she mentions Clow* Then, what does Kimi have to do with SS? And with Mokona Modoki's missions? What the fuck Clow knew about Watanuki?!?! Dammit, I want to know now!

So let's go with the double date. Because Doumeki was also invited, and now we'll see why. The older sis talks to Kimi about the lens fiasco, while the younger goes chatting with Dou-kun. Kimi asks her if having a twin is weird, and she says it is a bit weird, even though they get along fine, but «she and her sister are completely different». He feels the waves again.

They go to a cafe, which is the same place Himawari bought the chocolates. The younger is amused they both got bomboms on Valentine's, and she comments they are so handsome (but she's looking directly at Doumeki when she says that, and keeps flirting). The elder looks depressed, and thinks aloud. «Always the same...» As you know, every time I put the text that way, it's because there are waves XD So keep it in mind.

But Cat's eyes is so much more cute than City Hunter ! I LOVED that show as a kid ! Besides, imagine Fye, Kurogane and Syaoran in a thief tight body suit <33 is your mind broken yet or should I mention how some part of my mind keeps wanting me to fuzion Seishirou with Angel Heart ?

I couldn't see Cat's Eyes, but I do know it's from the same mangaka as City Hunter. I have seen the CH OVAs on cable, they're fun to watch (10T hammers XD)

Angel Heart is a spin off (sort of) of City Hunter, which happens after Kaori gets killed in a car accident. She had volunteered for organ donation in that case, but then as her heart was going to be transplanted it gets stolen by the Mafia, who wants to use it on their best killer. A young and very pretty girl called "Glass Heart" because she's so cold and emotionless. Anyway, the girl stays in a coma for one year, until they were going to unplug her, then she wakes up and escapes because in fact she was getting sick of her job... and eventually meets up with Ryo.
It's pretty good, in fact, almost as good as my favourite manga by this author (which is Family Compo)

You know, I think CLAMP is writing the Doumeki/Watanuki interaction in the usual way they always write boy and boy interaction. The problem? The characters are not going to cooperate. I can see them being friends, but Watanuki is such a strong character that I’m sure whenever the idea passes on the minds of the CLAMP ladies, they can hear him scream “HELL, NO!”

Also, I want to know too! There are way too many links already with Clow, the other Clow (the evil guy one), Yuuko, Watanuki and S/S. Give us some clues ladies!

That's a good theory. I don't think Watanuki's gonna cooperate ever, he's too straight.

Unless they pull a "Syaoran", and it turns out Himawari has weird yukitoish powers who attrack people with magic, and that's why he liked her and he was gay all the time.

Nah, I also don't think she's gonna end up with him. I still have the hope she's one of those double-personality evil persons (like Hinoto or princess Emmerauld) and she gives the plot a twist in the future, but as she is now, she's a boring character who's there just to be pretty and dumb. I don't like her, and I also don't hate her, I'm indifferent right now.

I like her (well I don't hate her) because she's not obviously in love with the hero. She act friendly toward both.

Well actually I find she's leaning lightly toward doumeki, but it could be the circumstance.

I also like she's not the perfect girl. I bet she can't cook that's why she always bought everything from cakes to chocolate.

She's definitely not my fav character but all together she's not that bad.

That's because they are clearly an evil mega-corporation bent on world domination. For one thing, the Piffle Princess herself is the most horrifying creature CLAMP has ever drawn...and for another, Icchan (our favourite deranged mad scientist ^__^) from 'Angelic Layer' was involved in a promotional marketing campaign with them. *wink*

(BTW, thanks for the story explanations. I was so curious about what was happening to those twins)

No, I disagree, the Piffle Princess bear is not the most hideous CLAMP creature ever (close, but not quite). That title is well deserved by the evil, bipolar blue dog plushie they made for Kobato. That thing is creepy!

I don't know how Nekoi can sleep with such a plushie watching her *shudders*

One thing that may or not be relevant, her name is written without Kanjis. o.O This could mean something... or not.

It usually doesn't: Sakura as in the character is written in hiragana in CCS, and I think in katakana in TRC (not sure about the last one, but it's not kanji). It must be cuter that way.

She can't be a spirit, since Doumeki (and everyone else) can see her. But there's something weird with her. She brings bad luck. Remember what happened when she touched the monkey's hand tube? It bended and opened. There's something odd, we just don't know what it is.
