Down with the twin saga
After a not-so-refreshing Monday afternoon in the college library, surrounded by physics formulae, and with salty peanuts and lemon Fanta running through my veins, what could I do? Simple. Ranting about the last part of the twin saga. It's kinda long.
XXXHOLiC volume 4 part 4: I want a chocolate Mokona, too!

White Day. When you must return your Valentine's presents. In the usual park, Watanuki gives Himawari his White Day gift: a box full of chocolate Mokonas made by him! God, they look yummy. There are white chocolate ones and dark chocolate ones. A hand takes a white chocolate Mokona and puts it in his mouth. It's Doumeki, who came toleech steal taste food! Watanuki is hysterical, since he didn't only ate his Valentine, he's also eating his White Day. The nerves! Himawari doesn't seem to mind sharing her bomboms, though.
Then one of the twins goes by, and Watanuki thinks it's the younger, but it's a genki, serene elder. She tells him it's thanks to him she's happier, as things don't screw up that much since she started thinking possitive. Doumeki offers her a Mokona, even though it's not his, which angers Watanuki again; and Himawari offers her a can of tea she brought.
The elder asks Kimi if she's her girlfriend, and he denies it franticly. Then, sad, asks if she's Doumeki's girlfriend, and he denies it with a popping vein. She feels a bit relieved, and admits it's a splendid day, nice weather and pretty flowers and all. He smiles at her, with a patented Clow smile.
Back at Yuuko's, Watanuki presents his White Day present (I don't want to think what would she do to him if he doesn't return her, um, present.) They're butterfly-shaped sweets! They're pretty, and taste good. As Kimi is in a good mood, she interrogates him, and he tells her about the elder's new optimistic outlook. Words are wonderful, he says. She agrees, but... words won't only condition yourself...
The elder was working now as a waitress in the cafe, so she invited the three of them to visit her sometime. Watanuki and Dou-kun go, but Himawari is absent as she had a piano lesson (really, what's up with CLAMP girls and piano lessons!), and that makes Kimi cry as he's again stuck with Doumeki instead of Himawari (Ohkawa won't stop until becoming him gay, right? O_oU). The elder takes their order, and she seems really depressed and disturbed. Also, her fingers are all bandaged. Kimi wonders what's wrong with her, what could've happen to her if everything was going fine.
The answer: the younger. She appears, as she had come to check on her sister, and she sits with them. She was worried because at home she'd slip cups and dishes, so she was not sure about her working there. When she arrives with the tea, shaken, younger tells her «to be careful, not to let the cup go.»
And bang, right to Shizuka's sleeve. Yes, waves around the elder.
«See? I told you. I knew a work like this one would not suit you.» Elder shivers while younger starts attacking her. Just a week, and her fingers were like that. She was getting so much worse. Their parents were worried. «And with so much water, the wounds will never close!»
Then her fingers bleed.
Watanuki understands Yuuko's words: the younger's words were binding the elder.
Younger doesn't shut up. She should quit the job. «She never liked to talk to strangers.» «She can never be a good waitress.» «Once she burnt her legs serving coffee.» «What if it happens again?»
Elder falls on her knees. The waves had become threads tying her body up.
Kimi acts and tells the younger she can't know that, and tells the elder she can't blame herself for something that hasn't happened yet. She must do it first! Younger argues: what if something happens to her? A voice tells her then it should be her responsability. It was Yuuko at Kimi's shoulder. Then she talks to the elder.
Who easy is to live chained by words. If she lived happy that way, then nothing, but... wouldn't she prefer to feel the joy to accomplish something she was working at, instead of being like this. Elder cries. Yuuko asks her if she has a wish. She nods. Then tells her it has a price, is she willing to pay? She nods. Then she's gonna grant the wish.
Yuuko gets close to her face, almost like she's going to kiss her (remember Dark Chii? well...) She asks her what's her wish, and puts her finger over the girl's lip. A little wave comes from it. Then elder screams:
«I want to be different!»
And the threads are cutted by her words.
Back to Dukylon, a different day. Elder shows up, now her curly hair short. The price for Yuuko was her hair -she had brought a bag with it O_o-, but she's not upset. It helps her feel she's changed. Her fingers are not healed yet, but she yet feels different. She's never going to give up again.
So she decides to confess to Doumeki. He bows, flattered, but tells her it can't be. She smiles, not hurt at all, and younger passes through and tells her he told her the same thing to her when she confessed. They smile, as it's not a big deal. She gets up, to order something to drink, turns and thanks Kimihiro.
Then he gets melancholic and talks to himself. "About that time, I also thought I couldn't make it through. And I didn't thank you." Dou-kun asks what's he saying, and he changes the subject, offering whatever he wants for tomorrow's lunch. He wants something with chesnuts. Kimi screams it's not the season, jerk. He sighs and asks for noodle soup. But, how the hell is going to pack soup in a bento!?, Kimi yells.
Who was the person who helped Watanuki? You'll have to see tomorrow. Join us for a wonderfully creepy, emotional flashback. Lots of things about Kimihiro's childhood will be revealed. I'll see you then.

It certainly looks that way... :/ I'm neutral to that ship, but I'd like to see a story where rivalry turns into friendship without getting to the "romance" part. Just for a change, you know.
