I was rereading the first volume of Tsubasa, and a couple of ideas came up.
1. I noticed this at my first reading, but the anime reminded me of that. Touya says Sakura is his heir to the throne. That makes me think, will Touya ever get married? It seems he's assuming he will never have any children, with a lot of conviction. Isn't his people complaining his king won't settle down? He should be... um, around my age (and I'm 22, almost 23), so he's still young but he's so certain he won't get his own heirs. Of course, my answer to that is the shipper's: he's not marrying because he's truly, madly in love with Yukito! <3
2. "Your father convinced mine that, if they (the ruins) are dug up, the history of Clow could be known."
You know... the idea of Fujitaka convincing King!Clow about something is interesting and disturbing at the same time o_o
3. Another Queen of Clow theory. What if... what if the real ruler from royalty was the queen? What if Clow was his husband? Wait, read the rest until you shoot me. It just occured me that maybe Clow was the high priest and he married the queen. Then she died and he filled the two spots. I've been thinking about it, since it seems King Clow had magic and however, Syaoran only knew of two people who could do special things: Yukito and Sakura. So there's not a lot of folks with powers in that kingdom. I don't know, just a thought. Until we don't get to know who the former high priest was, we're not going anywhere. But still, the fact both the king and the priest are dead/not around at the beginning of the story and Touya and Yuki had taken their places...
Oh and... we're having a blast making fun of the anime scenes, but the whole wings thing is almost exactly the same as the manga. Syaoran actually climbs the wall like Spiderman and jumps on Sakura before the wall sucks her in. And Fei Wan watches. Everything is the same. Except, you know, less bento and sunlight, more PGD and bad BGM.
And I think now King!Touya/Priest!Yuki are my official TRC OTP... again. There's something politically incorrect about them that makes them so subtle.
Bu-huh?

Obviously. Touya just isn't the kind of King who would marry a random princess and then get laid with his priest. And I do hope I haven't cursed badfic into existance with that.
2. Didn't remember that, either... Wow, I did NOT pay attention to the first chapters. XD I think that:
a) It *is* disturbing;
b) I'm not sure I *want* to know the history of Clow country, all things considered; and
c) If you dig and it sinks and you dig and it sinks in eternum, someone's probably trying to tell you something.
3. what if the real ruler from royalty was the queen?
Queen Yelan makes more and more sense by the second.
And if we get ruler queens, that's even more Númenor for you.Seriously, though, that would be interesting. And it would explain the infamous splash page with the staff...

Wow, maybe it is Yelan, after all.

...
Of course, that could come from Syaoran's dad's side, but... you know, creepy.

are you kidding me you spot that only now ? that's the very first thing I saw and immediately thought "it's ok I can keep reading, they won't ruin my CCS OTP"
> Queen of Clow
it does make sense if the guys were only interim. But the have the official title, so I guess Clow was really the king and not the husband of the queen.
But it's all about politics you know, maybe in their system, a king is fine for people but to have a strong government and people trust the regent had to be queen (and if possible with power to prove she have godlike ancestors or something) So touya inherited the crown because he's the elder. But to gain a more firm grasp on the population (and to elope with yukito), he probably plans to quit when she will be old enough to assume her function.

I noticed this at my first reading, but the anime reminded me of that.
Just wanted to say this because not enough people has pointed it out, like they should.
I admit I know squat about monarchies, but I still wanted this theory out of my head. God knows 99% of my theories make no sense.

It seems very obvious since everytime they wanted to explain the soul bonds concept they conveniently used touya and yukito as example. (plus they totally compare shaolan and sakura all the time with yukito and touya)
I don't know about monarchies either, but it works that way in the real world, while some branch of the royal family were ok to take over the throne, others were way better but not available at the right moment....
It would be very nice if the queen of clow was made to be a twist (or at least a amusing wink) but clamp's character are traditionally orphans. and we never get to know about their mysterious parents if not in the crack fic.

Hmm, but aren't there monarchies where there can be either a King or a Queen? Like in England: most were kings but there have been ruling queens once in a while (Victoria and the two Elizabeths). So Touya would be the actual King because he's the eldest, but maybe his mother was the real/only heir in the previous generation.
Then again, I don't know if husbands to ruling queens are actually *called* kings or have some other title. *tries to remember if it was mentioned in Victoria & Albert and fails*
...or maybe it has a completely different system because it's a different dimension and we're just thinking too much ;)

google says that elizabeth II husband is the prince, Duke of Edinburgh so no he's not the king. And I heard that camilla won't be queen either, she's going to be princess of something.....
we're just thinking too much
there's no such a thing as thinking too much.... if not there would be the fun ? *love to over analyze*

Ah, yes. I had a feeling it was like that as soon as I mentioned Victoria, but I wasn't sure.
And since you're right about the "no such thing as too much thinking"... what about this?
-The Queen marries Clow
-She dies while Touya is still a kid
-Clow becomes King until Touya, the actual heir, is of age
I'm getting so fond of this Queen Yelan idea, I'm actually hoping their mother will stay as a Mystery Character. o.O Wow, that's a new one...
