I just discovered something.

bizarro (Spanish) =/= bizarre (English)

I had believed bizarro was the translation of bizarre all my life, and it turns out it's not just that they don't mean the same. They even have almost opposite meanings! Being bizarro is a good thing: it means you're gallant or magnanimous. It doesn't make you weird or eccentric.

God, was I wrong.

I personally blame it on the Superman cartoons' dub.

ETA: In other news, I need the shiny new FMA manga chapter, like, right now.

A mí me pasó exactamente al revés: una de nuestras canciones patrias usa la palabra "bizarría" de la manera oficial, obviamente me la enseñaron cuando era chica, y después siempre me pregunté cuándo cambió de significado.

... así que *no* cambió, todas las traducciones/subtitulados que halan de "cine bizarro" y esas cosas están mal. WTF.
